This was venturing towards a 2 for me.

This volume had some interesting moments. You get to see the other Demi-Humans a lot more. You also get to see how the demi-humans are setting up to take down humans. However the things that really took it down for me was the bad translations, the boring talks, and the weaker middle part of the book.

However that ending was FUCKED UP. It boosted my score to a 2.5-3. So for that final few pages alone this made me excited to grab another volume.

Everyone knows who Superman is! NOOOOOOOO!

Wait. Brah, you're a super saiyan powered badass without parents and mostly everyone in your life dislikes you with the exception of Lois and Jimmy. So who gives a fuck? Just put them in hiding.

It just felt really odd reading this because the stakes didn't feel high when the reveal happened. The final issue of this volume where Superman is learning the consequences of being revealed cause but it doesn't have the weigh behind it. Also Superman little threat felt out of place for me.

On the flipside I enjoyed the start of this a lot and loved him dealing with his new powers. Learning how to control them. Watching Superman grow is always a interesting concept, better than throwing him against big bad foes. So the first half was good, the art solid, but the ending was meh.

A 2.5 out of 5.

Well it ain't no Jeff Lemire run that's for sure.

You've seen Arrow the TV show? Okay take that, more comedic moments from Oliver, and you get this Green Arrow run. Andrew Kreisberg was the showrunner of Arrow so it makes sense the feel of it is similar, yet not as...batmany? Even though Batman is here...twice.

Oliver begins to form a team, the one that he has at the start of the TV show. This kind of comes out of nowhere, and doesn't feel earned, and honestly it's the weakest part of the volume. The more exciting moments come from Oliver having fun being Green Arrow, teaming up with Lantern, and all the other heroes at the end. Things like that work real well, and are super fun, but when it tried to be like the TV show it was less than fun...it was boring.

Overall decent read after a great run by Jeff. 3 out of 5.

If only the second half was as good as the first half...Hmmmm that seems to be the same goddamn problem with every Superman comic I've been reading.

First half deals with a Superman with a lot less powers but a lot more to do. Sure he can't fly, sure he can be hurt, but he still feels like he must protect people. I also like how he has some traits from his original run at the start, that he gets angry quick, and it makes for a interesting and fun story. Especially when he gets into town.

But then we get the Wraith storyline. Which is decent at the start but by the end we have Superman facing off against Frankinstien. YES....you read that right. Yes...I nearly shut off my phone when reading that shit.

So the less said the better. For first half alone it's worth reading. 3/5

Kind of let down with this volume. I guess I expected more? Before we get to the bad let's start with the good, cause there is some great stuff.

The design of swamp thing is badass. The main villain of this, a crazy little kid with the power of Rot in his blood, is horrifying and kills without blinking. Scary. Also loved the more horror/mystery feel of it. Also very easy to get in to even if you never read Swamp Thing before.

The bad start with the slow pacing at points. Also things feel dragged on, and the time it takes to finally see the swamp thing takes far to long. We could have cut around 20 pages here. Also the panels being all over the place make it hard to keep place of what you're reading.

Intriguing start but nothing to go crazy over. As it stands I give the first volume a 3 out of 5, solid, but not great. Let's hope it gets better!

2.5. I don't know if I like this or not. Like I like Dick (HAHA) but I don't love the actual characters around him. When the story is focused on him only (Issue 2-3 being the best of the bunch) it's very interesting. His talks with Bruce are also great. I can't hate on the art either, it's all clean and nice.

However on the flipside the boring side character, exposition out the ass, and the silly end game there hinting at in each issue seems so "James Bond" but not in a good way. It's just a bit over the top. So check it out but it's nothing to write home about.

So it's a very solid 3. I'm going to talk about what I liked first.

The art is GREAT. Love the styles changing, and everything had it's own flare. I was surprised when I saw it was one artist. I also enjoyed the stories, especially Alfred's and it made me feel so sad for Bruce in those moments.

My main gripe is it's feeling is a bit shallow. I wish we got more stories from the character, make us feel the impact of losing Bruce. Instead it just felt like it wrapped up to quickly. I enjoyed the idea I believe more than the execution.

Still some great moments, wonderful art, well worth reading.

This was...okay? Issue 4 being by far the best issue. The five issue volume covers Gwen dealing with Peter's death, fighting the vulture, learning how dangerous Matt is in this universe, and last but not least Spider-pig. Oh and the Mary Janes...yeah...we'll get to that.

So what did I like? The talk with Gwen and May parker was handled real well. The loss of Peter should be as impactful as the loss of Gwen for Peter in 616. So to see that played out, and well done, is always a plus in my book. Another plus would be Matt being evil. He's not just "hahaha I'm EVIL!" He's a lawyer, who's evil, and smug, and merciless. Everything that he is in 616 but used for evil. This is what makes him interesting in this universe. Also the art for most part is solid.

Now the bad. Vulture's fights, or the fights in general, are kind of generic and boring. None have the regular flair of the great Spider-man fights we've come to see and love. Also what the fuck was with Spider-pig? I guess to give some humor but it didn't work well here. Oh and the Mary Janes...this idea is terrible. Basically Gwen's band....and it just feels so "hipster" that it hurts me reading it.

Overall it's decent start. I'm sure as it goes on it'll get better cause it's laying out alot of good seeds, but let's see if it grows to something worth reading. 2.5 for this one.

3.5. I almost went with a 4 star but there's some story elements lacking. Probably if I read all his history it would make more sense but yeah.

So what's Scarlet Spider? Well if you read Clone Sega from Spider-man back in the day you'd know. He's a very bad, evil, clone of Spider-man. But more than that, he was dying. So this is a story of him restarting his life basically, with the same memories, but trying something different.

But still, he thinks like a asshole not a superhero. This is what makes this volume so much more fun. The nonchalant way of Kain is just so refreshing. His blunt ways to people he saves makes an enjoyable read. The best comes with diffusing a bomb. When you read it I dare you not to laugh.

Overall very enjoyable and worth reading it.

Hey, you, reading this right now. You like mystery? You like "real" characters? You like twist and turns? Well shit, I think we found the book for you. This is if you took IT, mixed it with secret government hidings, little bit of Lost on top, you get 20th century boys!

The main character of this story is Kenji. He's running his store, taking care of a baby his sister left, and dealing with the death of a friend. We get various flashbacks in here of when he's a child with his buddies all playing, building secret forts, and being kids. Fun times! Except we get flashes of the future and something is not right. Something bad. Yet Kenji and his group of friends saved the world? What the fuck!?

What makes this story work so well is really getting to know each character. Each person feels like they have purpose, and none of it feels rushed (Which is slight negative, can drag a bit at points) but it really gives us a natural human feel to each character. I love getting to know each one and the big mystery keeps me intrigued throughout.

Will continue to read without a doubt!
