Holy fuck is there a lot of blood, nudity, and the word "nigger" thrown around like it's nothing. Oh wait, it's by Garth Ennis. Oh but of course then!
Punisher is a character who will fuck your shit up, in anyway possible, and you will no doubt die. This book is broken into three parts. The origin of Frank, him dealing with past "friends" and then the Irish. To be honest, the Irish was probably my favorite. Because of how insane it was, and how much shit was happening at a good pace. The middle part was okay. I wasn't a huge fan of the art, made Frank the ugliest motherfucker to ever exist. The origin was fine, if you like military stories you'll like it more, I just found it "okay."
It's over the top for sure, so much cursing, but do you expect less with Punisher? Nope. So a 3/5 seems right. Wasn't amazed but entertained throughout.

So this was a pretty good graphic novel. Well, the first half anyway.
So this is after year one, Batman is still getting use to fixing up his city. Who comes along? The JOKER! Oh Snap. He claims he'll kill people and sure enough no matter what Gordon and Batman try to do he kills them. Goddamn tricky son of a bitch huh?
The second half of this book is a boring ass filler story that I nearly fell asleep reading. So less said about it the better. The man who laughs is the only reason to read this graphic novel anyway, just try to prepare yourself for whatever the fuck this filler piece of shit at the end was.
So if you like Joker, and you love Batman, and wanna see a inexperienced Batman handle the Joker for the firs time, pick this bad boy up. 3/5.

Grayson, Volume 2: We All Die At Dawn
Steven Mooney, Tom King, Carlos M. Mangual, Mikel Janín, Jeremy Cox, Tim Seeley
I liked issue 5 and 8, but fuck issue 6 and 7.
Okay to break it down Grayson is getting deeper into Spryal. I have a feeling that if you enjoy spy movies or books you'll enjoy this more. Basically the big bad, isn't really the big bad, and the huge reveal at the end is suppose to be "OMG" but honestly none of this interest me.
The only reason i read this still is because of Grayson. Dick has the ability to make you super intrigued. And for the women, he got a ass you'll die for. But for me it's his honest personality and determination to always do good. Something to root for in a person.
Still this book feels like it's thrown together and placed in a event I don't know (and don't care to) read. Ohwell, I'll keep pushing on!

I love 90's art. Fuck you if you don't.
Kidding. I know most dislike 90's stuff in general in the comic world. Especially the art, which is just big muscled guys and ass shots on the women. Still, something about the more cartoony feel makes me just love it soooo much more.
So this volume is 300+ pages of Batgirl. Not Barb but Cassandra Cain. Right off the bat (no pun intended) I really dug this character. She barely speaks, she's a trained assassin, and fights like a motherfucking badass. Think Damien Wayne, but not as much back talk. Also her costume is on f'ing point, I love it so much.
So through the issues we see her begin her days as Batgirl. Batman follows her around, trying to harness her skills, and throughout you see the mentor situation which is always a highlight for me with Batman and his underlings.
Another great part about this volume is she doesn't always win the situations. She loses fights, she loses people, and it makes this character grow in unexpected ways througout the first volume. I was surprised how much I grew to really love her as Batgirl.
Should you check this out? Well it's 10 bucks for 300+ pages of awesome 90's funness. I'd say YES very much so. Hope you enjoy it as much as I did.

I don't know if I'm going to read past this.
I love moments of Grayson. In this volume the moments with Grayson visiting a Bruce (who doesn't remember him due to End Game events) or Jason, Tim, or Barbra were all very well done. My favorite one was with Damien, which was such a wonderful reunion.
On the flipside, the second half, all the Spyral shit or whatever is so boring, convoluted, and messy. I don't care about any of it. It feels like a shitty Bond or Mission Impossible script. And it makes me not want to sadly finish this series.
People who are up to date, is it worth it? Should I finish it? Do we get more human character building moments with Dick or more Spy mehness?

This was a interesting read. Never judge a book by it's cover!
Because this a ugly fucking cover. So I almost didn't read it :P
However I sat down and flipped through page after page and actually got pretty engrossed quickly. The idea of Batman running around in a shitty future (think like Robocop almost) while fucking up some bad people with some weird uglish art going on, and you got something special (or at the very least unique).
Batman, who we don't know if he's Bruce Wayne or not, is going around trying to uncover something. As he always does, right? You got the supporting cast here with Jim and Robin, but the weird part is this isn't the Robin you know (or the Jim I guess, though he looks a lot like him?) You don't even know who this Batman is (and slight spoilers you never really find out).
It's very odd, and never answers questions you probably are wondering. Is this like a What If? Is this the future? What the heck is this?
Which is where the negatives come in. Too many unanswered questions, mixed with some pretty ugly face art, and wraps up too neatly.
On the flipside I enjoyed the art at the action moments cause it ran sooooo smooth, and looked great. I also love the Batman in here, for he gives no fucks, and he never backs down. Also he's scary as all hell with those teeth like a vampire put in.
So overall and enjoyable time with this one without much answered in the end. A 3/5.

Max Landis is someone I respect, but don't love all of his work. I also don't always agree with him on subjects.
Saying that Superman: American Alien is the best Superman story I've ever read.
What makes this 7 issued collection so great is they feel seperate yet all flow so well. We start with Clark as just a kid, then teenager, young adult, aspiring hero, and a true fucking badass by the end. Not badass in the sense he beats the living shit out of baddies, which he does, but badass in the sense he begins to conquer life in general. To show you no matter who you are, where you're from, you can overcome ANYTHING.
I really loved most of the art. Issue 1 and 3, and the last issue all have stunning art. The others are either just good or almost great. Which is still good, because I usually hate sketch type drawings, they usually look lazy to me.
I freaking LOVED the dialog. It hits home, and it makes Clark so relatable. Which he should be. This is a alien, true, who almost can't die, but he is just trying to make it in life. Trying to love the right girl, trying to keep us his job, trying to just have purpose in his life. It's so well handled, with great human moments with Clark's friends, parents, and even enemies.
I can gush over this over and over again. It's truly remarkable how well it's done, how it flows, I give two thumbs way up. After watching the horrid BvS I'm so glad we got something like this to really show the young generation why Superman can be written so well. Give us a Superman like this so we can fall in love with the character once more!

I was disappointed with the second half of this.
The first half places Kain with a group called The Rangers. It's a silly team up but makes for some very very funny moments. Also Kain is still a badass and the fights are always fun to watch. It's spider-man, but giving less of a fuck, so more brutal.
The second half is interesting, especially the whole "becoming a actual spider" but it didn't have the funness. And to be honest that's easily the best part of the first volume. It's funny as heck. Less funnies make this more generic.
So a 2.5 out of 5.

Every once in a blue moon you read a graphic novel that blows away any expectations no matter how much good you heard about it. Earlier this year it was American Alien. The Vision is the second Graphic Novel made this year to blow me the FUCK away!
Vision is building a home for his family. His wife, his kids, all he's trying to do is be normal. It's simple, for humans we try our best to achieve great things. For Vision he's saved the world a bunch of times and now he wants to settle in and stay normal. The whole time you hope for the best but this gloomy fee.l from the start is telling a different story. When the first major twist happens you're in for a treat. By the end...you're jaw is on the floor and you want to quickly read the next volume.
The story has a narrative by a mysterious person. As they're showing you the view of The Visions you get to see it all unfold through the events told and the further down the dark path you go the worse it gets. It's like Psycho meets Breaking Bad, and in all the best ways.
I want to talk more but everything would feel like a spoiler so I urge you to pick this up and quickly get sucked in then wait and wait for the second part to come out. Truly a one of a kind story in the Marvel line up, don't miss out!

I'll give credit to the "idea" of it all. Watching a more realistic Joker is never a bad thing. Well, unless it's boring. In which case this book is.
SO we start off with a low level thug picking up Joker from prison after somehow getting out on "good behavior" or "not insane" anymore. Cause that's how it works in Gotham. If you killed hundreds but promise to be good from now on, you get out...right...
So we go through the daily routine of Joker the gangster. Slapping up some people, using his people to force other gangs (two face) to back down. Killing people because he can. This is a broken man, a man who relies on pills, who falls to his knees for Harley, who is just a weak man. Not at all like the Joker I wanted, not the master of chaos and destruction, but a bitter man who can't seem to get what he wants in life.
The overall story is pretty meh. There's some great moments (the flaying, the final two pages) but the rest seems "dark" just to be "dark" and "edgy" and it lost me a lot of the time when I expected something surprising but instead was returned with generic mobster movie/book moment.
A 2 out of 5 for the good art, and some wonderful moments, mixed in with a lot of weak storytelling and predictable story overall.
