Okay better than the first two volumes.

Then why the same rating? Well this is a solid 3, the others were 2.5.

.5? THAT'S THE BIG DIFFERENCE ?

Yes. I have to be honest, so far, The Flash has been just okay at best. The best part is easily the art, which looks fantastic in action. I love the way Barry moves, attacks, and the effects all look stunning. This also feels better put together. We start with King Grodd taking over, and it's interesting, until it's not. Which is right around the second issue.

After Grodd storyline we get to see how the ones stuck in the Speedforce are gaining their new powers. This is a lot more fun, villain of the week type story, and I had fun with it. Also the cliffhanger actually made me want to read the next volume. More than I could say about the previous volumes.

So keep running flash, get a little bit better, I know you have it in you.

I hope...

I hate space stories.

Well, hate is a strong word. I don't find them interesting for the most part.

So I heard a lot of good things about Omega Men and I figured I'd give it a try. I liked Red Rising book series, Enders Games, Mass Effect video games. So I figured I'd try it out.

This is one depressing ass series. I've never read anything related to Green Lateran, and maybe that wasn't the best idea, cause first few issues I was lost. Luckily the story picks up rather fast and by issue 4 or 5 I was in to it pretty quickly. The Omega Men isn't really trying to tell a story of good vs evil. It's very in the middle, and picking sides is silly to do.

Sure there is a very sick individual who likes to kill a mass amount of people, but our group of Omega Men do some horrific shit too. Very much like the best stories out there it makes you think past just the simple story of who wins and who loses.

Before the last issue I was on the fence if I should give this a 3 or a 4. I went with a 4 thanks to the final issue, which I could see would divide people. If you want a simple answer in the end, wrapping up with a little red bow, you'll be disappointed. This story wraps up with you having to question everything about what's right and wrong. Who's to blame, who's right, and why we do this.

That's what makes this story pretty special, it makes you think once you're finished. The only negatives for me is I found it confusing at the start and sometimes a bit dialog heavy at moments where the art could speak for it. But overall, very much worth reading.

Also the art is fantastic.

Okay I'll shut up, go read it now!

I wasn't sure how I felt at first. The first 4 issues just kind of felt interesting, but not all that gripping. Like I just didn't care, but I enjoyed the art enough to keep going.

So I was sure this would be a 2.5 for me. Maybe even a 2.

Then the last two issues happened. And I loved it. I especially think Issue 5 is fantastic. Just really well done fights. With issue 6 being a lot of fun with the dialog to show how sad people are to become another.

Overall, it's weird, and sometimes makes little sense, but it's fun and the ending gets you pumped. Check it out for something different. Also, the art is great.

This wasn't easy to judge. I know it's Legendary status, I know people swear by it, and I know it's super respected.

Saying that I didn't love it, just enjoyed it.

The idea of having all the old heroes "retire" or "retreat" and having the world overrun by new heroes who are violent. I believe when written in the 90's it was talking about the state of all heroes becoming gritty in the 90's, which is nice to talk about it, but not all that important in this day and age. Anyway, I was let down by the big reveal or twist towards the ending and felt very cliche. I also didn't love the art. It's nice to read at the start, very different, but then it becomes meh as it goes on.

However, I did really love some of the dialog. Mostly anything with Superman and Batman was handled very well. The ending was sweet, and really made my score jump almost a whole star. I liked the bond you get from all these old heroes, and the fights are entertaining, but overall was kind of disappointed with this one. It's solid but I couldn't help but think certain aspects could have had more impact. More dialog with the original heroes, instead of just really having Superman and Wonder Women being the only two talkers.

SO yes, it's good, but I've honestly read a lot better.

So sad that my scores have dropped into the 3's for Snyder's run on Batman. Because Court-City are great, and so in Death. However Zero Year, this, and even End Game don't live up to it.

SAYING THAT I do still really enjoy them. They have a little to many things that annoy me, or distract me, from the overall story to love it like the first three arcs.

The big thing with this volume was the answer to a lot of people's issues. They said all Snyder did was do one big arc after another. Never doing small individual arcs to slow down. That's what this is, just a bunch of individual stories all gathered in one volume. They're fine, nothing special, and I personally enjoy the bigger arcs but hey that's me.

You need a Bat fix? You'll get it here. Just don't expect anything beyond that.

Brian is my favorite writer of all time. He's wrote two of my top 5 stories of all time, and now this is a third that might reach that by the end.

Volume 5 leaves off where 4 did. This one slows down a bit. Yes, there's a somewhat major death near the end but this gets far more down into the dialog and character development. I enjoyed it but wasn't mindblown like Volume 1-3. Keep it up Brain, I have a feeling the ending will be as powerful as Y the Last Man.

I AM GROOT.

I Am...

I...

Okay it gets annoying after awhile. Like, I do enjoy the character of Groot. To have someone actually always look on the bright side and also to have someone who can fuck you up but choose not to is always interesting concept. I also like Rocket and Groot's banter most of the time.

However the weakest parts of this are the action pieces. They aren't all that interesting and I didn't find this very funny. Like at all. I didn't laugh once, and I know it wanted me to. Which is a shame.

On the flip side I was surprised how much I enjoyed the nicer moments, filled with good character motivations, and some heartbreaking moments. The backstory of how Groot met Rocket, Silver Surfer issue, and the final few pages made this a worthy read. All the rest was just meh but luckily those three things I mentioned add up nearly half of it. So for that it's a 2.5 out of 5. But I'll go with a 3 cause I did have fond memories of the ending.

First Black Science Volume to hit the three mark...

NOOOOOO!!!!!

Well it was bound to happen. I enjoy Black Science for what it is. I think it has broken characters and mixes them up very well. I also enjoy the art a lot, which is a surprise, because I usually hate art that tries too hard to be "too" different.

This volume is really about your past and accepting your future. Which for the most part, I love the idea. We all have secrets, scars, that form who we are today. We all live to be a better self of our past. So to see Grant's past, both childhood, and adult life, was interesting. I really enjoyed the second half, as getting closure on Rebecca was needed big time.

On the lower half of my ratings is the first half, which felt like a acid trip. I got Grant Morrison vibes, with drilling your mind with the same fucking thing and theme over and over again. As I've posted many times, Grant is usually a man with great ideas but shitty execution. This is what I felt reading first half of this volume. Neat idea, but done horribly. It should have been a single issue that was dragged nearly 3. I got the point by the first issue, sometimes less said the better.

Overall though I still dig this series for the sheer insanity that comes with it. It sounds like the next volume will kick this series back into high gear, which would make this "okay" volume fine as long as this is the weakest it'll go.

3.5.

I know, how could I? All the top reviewers shit on this volume. HOW CAN YOU DO THIS!?

Because I found this volume nearly as fun as the first. Something that is missing from a lot of comics is the fun and heart. They're either overdramatic, slow paced, or "epic" in the sense everything is going to come down to a big brawl of the gods. I like stories like this that don't take itself seriously and have fun.

The biggest moments of this volume are Ghost Rider vs New Ghost Rider and learning more about Eli. His past is a neat twist and I enjoyed learning how it contacts to Robbie. I also really love the relationship between the brothers, it feels real, and heartfelt, and it's enjoyable to see.

Now the art. Some seem to hate this volume's art, while I didn't. Yes, it's very cartoony and over the top but it's still fun. That is until the last two issues, which look lazy and half assed. I'm sure it's because they were rushing to complete it but man oh man this art at the end felt so damn weak compared to the entire series and sad the way it left off.

Which also left me mad because it felt like we got the origins out of the way, let's do something even better, but we never will. Because everyone hates this series. So to that I say FUCK YOU ALL. Just kidding...but I do enjoy this series a lot and will miss it.
