This was awful.

All the characters making rash and dumb choices. Art is a step down somehow from the past. The storyline itself into lights out is SO boring.

I REALLY disliked this one enough to give up and sell my collection of this series.

A 1.5 out of 5.

I read this like a week ago but for some reason, I forgot to put it on my reading list.

But it was cute!

Kuroe Akaishi is a girl just trying to get through high school. Bad enough high school is already a bitch to get through but when she starts crushing on a guy it becomes even harder. But wait, you thought that was bad? Suddenly she grows a tail and spikes out of her back and becomes a gigantic Godzilla like Kaiju!

This is over the top and silly. The idea isn't fully explored yet. The idea of her during into a Kaiju is pretty cool but people sure don't act like it's THAT crazy, which is weird. However, the humor is cute and the relationship works so far. I also think the art is really good, especially when she becomes a Kaiju.

So I'm not 100% amazed with it but intrigued enough to check out volume 2. I'm giving this one a 3.5 right now.

I am always floored when I read Aaron's older stuff because I'm blown away with how GOOD it was and now he churns out Avengers...a flagship title but with NO flavor, nothing that made Aaron stand out as a writer, and I just don't understand it.

I mean to be fair Wolverine fits inside Aaron's wheelhouse. A dark and moody person who is very good at murdering people...this is perfect for Jason. Especially back then when that was all he wrote really. But picking up the Omnibus that collects the first half of his stuff I was a little surprised at how mixed the stories were. From more serious, grounded stories, to over-the-top wonky adventures. This was a nice mix.

The stories that stood out the most for me were Get Mastique, Man in the Hole, the standalone issue of Wolverine coming to terms with the passing of Kurt, and I actually enjoyed the terminator like story at the end a lot too. These stories range from grounded, somber, and over the top sci-fic adevnture.

I also enjoyed the start of the Weapon X story with others just like Wolverine hunting him down. Though it felt a little dragged on at points the end result was great and some really fucked up foreshadowing for Draken that comes later in Wolverine's life. I thought the Mad Scientist bit was the weakest of the bunch. First, the whole dream sequence, am I really crazy, was my life a lie? Has been done to DEATH and better. It was just okay here. On top of that, the villain was way TOO goofy and he got away with shit way too often.

But overall this is a great collection. I REALLY enjoyed around 75-80% of this. Way more than I expected. So much so I picked up the second half of this run in Omnibus form. Pretty excited to get to it one day.

A 4 out of 5.

While not AS funny as volume 1 I still really enjoyed this one.

Less on the outrageous humor this time around and more on actual diving. Which works well because the artist really gets to showcase their talent here. The underwater parts look FANTASTIC. There's some really cute moments and emotional bits here. Of course add some gross out humor, partial nudity (Mostly male) and you still get some great laughs. This time the boys are forced to dress like girls to enter a contest to win cash. But the girls also get to join in the fun. Also have some great diving first time moments that work really well.

Overall another really solid, funny volume, that is becoming one of my favorite series ever. I already bought up a few more volumes.

What in the world happened to Green Lantern titles after Johns and Peter left?

This is pretty bad. John gets to be the leader of the corps, kind of, and tries to show why he's one of the best Lanterns...but oh my he comes across SO boring here. On top of that, Hal is even dumber here than the norm. Kyle's mission is...actually I didn't even fully understand what the hell he was doing here.

The story is disjointed and by the end I just kept thinking...who cares?

Probably the weakest volume for me so far.

So first half is Kazuya trying to talk to Chizuru about what is happening with Ruka, another girlfriend to rent. But then when Ruka shows up at his place, all hell breaks loose, and you find out the real reason she's being so pushy. She LOVES Kazuya...of course she does. Anyway you get some background on Ruka, which is actually pretty good, and then we get a little Christmas special. Which in itself is a cute idea with a nice ending, but the idea of Kazuya stalking Chizaru is pretty creepy.

But yeah a messy volume. There's good bits here and there and moves quick but also some dumb choices some of the characters make and do is questionable. I really disliked how stupid Kazuya was in this volume, and while sometimes he is a bumbling idiot, in this volume he was shown to be even more insecure than usual and a stalker, ew.

Anyway, it was still solid with good comedy bits, but not great. a 3 out of 5.

Shazam returns with writer Geoff Johns to go along with the movie being a hit and...it's okay.

This very much feels like a script for Shazam 2. Got characters who show up in the first movie, Billy dealing with his father returning, the magic lands being run by a boy who can't seem to grow up, and Black Adam and Superboy thrown in just because.

This wasn't bad. Some of the art is amazing, the humor sometimes works really well, Billy's growth here is solid, and most of the family moments with Mary and the rest work. But the villains seemed forced, the Boy King is a lame villain, Black Adam is a tool, and then we finally get that crazy fucker Superboy back but he's kind of defeated so easy.

So yeah a okay story collection all together. Drags on at points and not amazing but decent enough read. A 3 out of 5.

HOW YOU GONNA LEAVE ME HANGING?

But yeah this was a pretty great volume. With Akira finally figuring out what she wants in life things are starting to fall in place. Especially looking back on her running, and what made her feel who she really is. Kondo also gets some good character growth as he comes to terms with his feelings and thoughts. Also my girl Yui finally making her moves while Kyan decides she won't just sit and wait forever for her friend to talk to her again.

Overall this was a really great volume. Maybe the strongest yet. People making choices, focusing on their dreams, and coming to realize their own faults and wants. I love when characters grow, good or bad, because it changes the way you view them or relate to them. This is a pretty great volume and leaves a lot of paths of where everyone can go for the 5th and FINAL volume.

A 4.5 out of 5.

While not nearly as fun as the main series this was a pretty cool story. Basically it continues after Aliens the film and has a character related to someone from there. That part and the art are great. But it wraps up so far and it feels so quickly done can't connect to too many character. A 4 issue mini would have made a better story.

So it comes to a end, and I will miss this series.

I think this series had a lot going for it. The idea, or the plot, seems simple enough. Someone loves someone, and someone else who loves them is trying to help them get with that person. It's been done a thousand times. However, the unique twist here is the fact that these characters feel like actual people and not just plot devices to move a romance plot forward. They grow, make mistakes, are confused, and can't decide just like anyone else.

So with the final volume Itachi has to make a choice. It's not a simple choice. He loves both people in his life very much. He's trying to come to terms with his feelings and choices. Trying to decide if he wants to stay with Futaba or maybe actually be romantically involved with Toma. And what's what makes it so compelling, it doesn't feel forced, mixed emotions and feelings are at a all time fly and we do get some solid answers in the end.

The ending is probably going to leave people divided. Some may think it comes out of left field (I did not, I saw the signs throughout the entire book) some will love it, some will want MORE of it. I'm in the later two camps. I wish we got more of the relationship that was finally settled on but what I got, made me so happy, I didn't care.

And I'm trying not to focus much on the plot cause obviously this is the end and it'll give too much away but for me this hit almost all the marks.

I'm most eager to see what Kaito (The author) comes up with next. This was great.
