Kind of a middle bridge. Finding out what went wrong in the past. Who the piece of shit is now who ruins everything. However, when our hero goes back into the past he's sent to be a undercover agent for the rival gang. But maybe someone else is already there? This is a pretty cool set up for the next major arc.

Ah we finally get to see Shinra vs Arthur, that was badass.

So Shinra is being controlled by some chick convincing him to destroy everything. Arthur decides to help him by beating the shit out of him. A good old fashion duel that ends in a cool way. We then quickly learn of a new Pillar that is coming, the 5th, meaning Shinra is his fire company have to get to her before the crazy Evangelist get their hands on her.

This means a few fire houses have to work together leading to a badass brawl between them and the Evangelist. Shinra goes head first half one of the big guys and well, this is a fantastic back and forth battle. On top of that Arthur goes for the main evil girl we've seen before. And this new chick, who can sense when fires are going to happen, is a bit batshit insane.

As always, highly entertaining. I really enjoyed this volume, probably one of the best ones so far on the action side of things. I'm eager to see how Shinra is going to win and also what this fifth pillar chick is going to do. A 4 out of 5.

Great art mixed with confusing and honestly boring storytelling. I dunno if Niles is just not the writer for me.

First I want to say, RIP to the legend that is Kentaro Miura.

I can't really sum up the way this author changed my life. When I was getting into anime at a young age I never quite came across something as monumental as Berserk in terms of adult-like anime. I mean sure, I got into Guyver and such but Berserk was on a different level in terms of storytelling. When I was 11 or 12 (Around 1999-2000 I watched this anime and was blown away. A man who was told he was nothing, used, and abused found a family in a band of misfits and whom he thought was a brother, and when he finally was proud of himself he got it all torn away from him.

The story of Berserk itself is violent, dark, fucked up, whatever gritty dark word you want to use for it. But it is also about acceptances, love, overcoming fear, and much more. And while the anime changed my life it was the story itself by Miura who really got me into the dark fantasy genre. Without him I doubt I'd ever give things like Game of Thrones or Dark Souls or many more in the genre a chance.

So anyway, back to volume 3. Volume 3 explores Guts realization that he MUST move on to become his own person. Before he's ready to leave the band of hawks he decides to help Griffith take what he wants. But working with him once more they fight a brutal war that gives Griffith the chance to become something bigger than just a Mercenry leader. But when Guts is ready to move on, things get dicey and Griffith must face his greatest fear, not getting what he wants.

The last few chapters is what really worked for me in this volume. Don't get me wrong, the battles are wonderfully drawn, brutal, and work really well. Watching Guts and Casca work together was just amazing. But it really is the fall of Griffith and his decent into madness and Guts rising up to be a person he is proud of. Of bearing his soul to the woman he loves and letting her see him for the first time ever fully.

Nudity is done with such purpose in here I love it so much. It isn't just "Fucking" it's love making, it's pain, rape is not used for you to enjoy or even hate the character but to deal with the PDST after, and so many sadly can relate to it. The love making is beautiful, messy, and scary, and again, so many people can relate as well. And this is hands down one of the best ways to handle it all here.

But yeah, Berserk really shines in this volume and I remember as a kid I kind of got it but the brawl, the fight, the killing was my main "whoa so cool." and now when I'm older it is the silent moments, Casca holding Guts, Griffith looking into the abyss, that really resonate with me as an adult.

Fuck...I feel sad just writing this knowing Kentaro Miura wrote this and he won't get to finish his epic. But I also smile, because he wrote something that can resonate with me so much, touch me in my soul, and it might sound corny but I just can't help but think it speaks to me on some level. You will ALWAYS be a legend in my mind Kentaro, and probably millions of others. I mean to be relevant piece of work 30+ years after creation says enough.

A obvious 5 out of 5. RIP to one of the GREATEST writers/artist of all time.

This is a brutal volume so be prepared.

With Rick now back at the prison they all are ready to regroup and figure out their next step. The first half is actually a bit more on how to function as a group once more and be decent people to each other. A lot of it works, and even some funny moments throughout. The second half is insane chaos as the Governor makes his move to take the prison that Rick and his people worked so hard for and it is now a mini-war.

Brutal in exactions, this takes out serval key characters. I always admired Walking Dead for killing characters off so quickly and in surprising ways. It never feels like shock value, and the story reminds you how close to death they always are, so when they do die it is more "Damn it" than NOOOOOOOOOOOOOO. Which is a huge plus. The art remains strong and gets better as the series progresses. The final few pages are horrifying and brutal to watch and end this current arc on a super high note.

A 4.5 out of 5.

Geez, Denji is having a rough go.

And I thought the last volume was depressing. This volume is basically what happens when you lose the will to live. Makima makes such a awesome, evil, sadistic villain. Pochita gets to shine a bit here too, miss my dog. Power's surprising events are...well fucked up. The last couple chapters really push this into the what the fuck, holy shit, oh my god zone.

How will this end? I have no idea. I'm here for the ride though.

This was pretty boring with lame jokes and a bit...rapey? Yeah not for me.

God I love this series.

Maybe because I'm pretty Otaku. Or maybe just a big old nerd. Maybe the fact I love to read manga as much as I like to game. Or I should say I gamed more back in the day (used to be a reviewer on Youtube, 20K+ following too!) but nowdays kind of just sit back and enjoy reading more. But I can relate and feel SO many of these characters because I am them!

From them finally going on their first date, to almost advancing to a actual kiss, Hirotaka and Narumi are making advances. I really loved the chapters with Hirotaka's younger brother and his realization the person he now games with is actually a girl. That should be fun. Hanako and Taro relationship is super cute, and learning how they met was great. I think the only weaker side of it was the fact it is taking forever for Narumi and Hirotaka to even kiss...come on guys you're adults. Bang already.

But yeah this is such a cute, funny, and well made series. A 4.5 out of 5.

Ooooooh we get to the hot and sexy part again!

I think the fact this is trying to be two genres is interesting yet it hinders it at points. Being a police precaudal is interesting enough but it has a lot of scenes of characters talking about what they will do and how to do it, instead of just showing it. And while I appreciate it taking a more grounded and adult stance it can be a bit boring at points. Doesn't help there's a TON of characters and it can feel overwhelming.

Saying that I can't help but be interested in all the characters I do like. I love Taira and Anzai. They're super cute together and their "almost" sex time was hot no lie. I also really enjoyed the twist with someone's mother, super intrigued with that. As always too the art is fantastic and worth viewing each page.

A 3.5 out of 5. I'll bump it to a 4.

Chainsaw Man ends up an extremely high note. With a lot of quite moments that really add into Denji as a character. The insane last page of the previous volume goes right into this and a return of a character to push Denji to come back from his hell is both powerful and well done.

The last few pages give a very hopeful feel despite all the darkness around it. I'm assuming it will continue due to the final page but man, what a great fucking ending.

A 5 out of 5.
