This puts the romance on more of the backburner here as we get to see the life of the two main characters and how they got to where they're at.
With Akira we go back to see what happened to her old friends. While some things change, others don't, and the result is kind of bittersweet. It's about growing up and growing apart and most people can relate. While Oizumi is dealing with a similar situation his feels more about resentment and remorse, which older people like myself can feel 100%.
I think the little chapters with romance mixed in with more slice of life stuff works really well. Gives more reasoning to care for these characters but also gives us a reason to understand how both can eventually, possibly, get together. I think having two characters with such a different view in life yet similar can work really well.
It is a slow burn book for sure but romance/slice of life fans will find a lot to enjoy in volume 2.

The results of the last volume push this one forward.
This does feel like a big set up but it works for the most part. Getting all the turtles riled up after what happened to Donnie. Shredder wanting his revenge and plotting it. Every character growing in different ways till it all comes to a big "Should be final showdown" moment at the end. I didn't love this volume as it felt more build up than payoff but it is still solid as always.

Really solid start to this series. If I didn't read either one I'd just assume it all works in the same universe. And while we're given far more questions than answers it leaves me intrigued where we go from here. Also, the art is amazing, some breathtaking shots here.
Much better volume than the last.
We get to see Takemichi really strive to save his friends here. A little bit more hopping back and forth give a lot of context to who these guys are. Little clues to where it all goes wrong. The series picks up intensity as it unravels itself to leave the last few pages on the edge of your seat before shit is about to go down.
I was much more intrigued in this volume to see where we'd go. It helps the characters are flushed out more, giving us a deeper looking into multiple characters including Sano and Ryuguji. I really liked the comedy this volume too, far better and funnier. The pacing worked well and it was much better than the last volume in that sense.
A really solid 4 out of 5.

Mr. Hellblazer brings a group with him to get a powerful weapon and promises no one will die...not easy to trust, huh? Death and carnage and a new powerfully ally are born. Two more issues to go!
This to me is when the series begins to excel.
When Science Dog shows up on Mark's front porch he has to deal with heading back into space to find out what a race of aliens needs with him. Once he gets there he finds a huge surprise. On top of that we now have a new family member joining Mark's family so this should be fun. Oh you think that's all? A old villain returns and it really gets brutal as Mark has to deal with this son of a bitch going after his family.
Overall, this is everything I wanted in a comic. Great dialogue, life lessons, brutal fights, people actually getting hurt or dying I care about, solid all around pacing. This is Invincible when firing on all cylinders. To me the best superhero comic ever when it is at the top of its game.

Spy x Family continues to give us all the fun we want in this silly family adventure.
This one luckily focuses on Anya, who is just the most adorable character ever. This time it's more episodic in nature where we go on fun adventures in her school life. From her trying to pass a test (And getting lessons from her Uncle results in some funny as hell scenes) and then her helping a boy who thinks his life is in ruins, to trying to build a doggie out of paper. It's plenty of fun times to be had mixed in with a little spy adventure here and there with Loid.
Overall this series continues to be extremely enjoyable. Funny, great pacing, good characters. Only think I want more of is Yor and her missions since those bring in some intense fight scenes. Everything else is awesome.

This is probably one the weaker volumes for me.
This is a lot of exposition on what these monsters are and how some of them feel like they're near immortal the way they take hits and just regenerate. But soon into two battles we get to see they aren't as invincible as they all claim. With this mostly focuses on our main ninja warrior and the two brothers.
This is another brutal volume with plenty of badass fights and deaths. I loved learning the history of the girl newcomer and why she's so important. But the exposition dump was a little too much and the pacing felt disjointed in this volume a few times.
Still solid but not great. A 3 out of 5.

As a huge nightcrawler fan I was super excited by this and for rhe most part it delivered. While bit slower paced than expected and repeating themes shown in other series, we got a nice look into nightcrawlera views on the deaths of his fellow mutants. The series poses more questions than answers but that was actually a enjoyable part of it. I also think the ending can lead to some great storyline.
Whoa, it's been FAR too long since we had an amazing Nightwing comic. Hell, just this first issue makes me think we'll get his best run yet.
Dick is back to having his memories back after the embarrassing Ric storylines. What Taylor does well is establish who Dick is and why he fights. Stopping a bunch of criminals from hurting a puppy seems small time but shows how cruel this town is and how much of a good person Dick is. The final few pages with Dick reading a letter from Alfred brought me to tears.
Overall, if you're a fan of hopeful superheroes and Dick this is for you. A 5 out of 5.
