A average revenge story with pretty good art and some fun moments. Basically a guy's wife dies, a woman's boyfriend dies, together they team up to take out the people who killed them. A few predictable twist and turns with some fun shoot outs but nothing great. Just a decent revenge comic if that's what you want you'll get it here.
We're getting so close to the end now. So much revealed here. Deaths that I guessed would happen but still shocked and sad when they did. People putting their lives on the line to stop a evil that may just be unstoppable at this point. A ending that left me on the edge of my seat wanting to know if the doctor will make it in time. I'm not sure how it'll end but Monster is already a classic in my book at this point.
One of those trickster style books where everything seems happier than it is till shit goes down.
Except unlike Made in Abyss, this one didn't hook me emotionally. We have a group of people in basically a sand type world who find a girl and they bring her back to their village. It is ALOT of world building and to be honest the exposition dump seems endless at points and I was bored. Luckily the art itself was solid to make me finish and of course the final chapter, which is probably what most people will be talking about, is shocking and brutal. But I don't feel it was a 100% earned. Not horrible but didn't do much for me. Might check out second volume down the line.
A 2.5 out of 5.

I thank Guyver for getting me into anime in the early 90's. Even before DBZ this was probably my first VHS tape ever for anime and I loved every minute of it.
Re-reading it basically 25 years later it still holds a special place in my heart. The dialogue is toned down here for Viz release back when they did so almost no cursing is here despite people getting their arms, heads, and legs crushed and ripped off. Also, it surprised me just how fast shit escalates in this manga that I forget so much happens in this one volume. Main characters die, plot progression feels like it's speeding through, and I was in shock by the end we already got to a major point that I had remembered happening in a different order in the anime both OVA and newer anime in 2005.
Either way though the idea of it, the brutal moments, ballsy deaths, and so on all work for me. A 4 out of 5.

A okay shonen, just average as expected.
A teenager finds out he's the son of the devil and the devil wants to now use him but he refuses. Instead he joins people who can exorcise demons to get revenge for his father like figure who was killed because of the devil. Between him and his brother they work together on a way to rid the world of demons.
The dynamic between the brothers actually works. Obviously they love each other but they also have issues with each other. The best part is them working out their differences and the fight scenes being pretty easy to follow. But the rest of the story is typical, no real weight behind the story yet. No characters that spark interest right off the bat. I usually give shonen's about 3 volumes to really impress me before dropping so I'll give volume 2 a whirl but this was decent.

Another zanny, extremely sexual adventure, with our favorite horny guys/gals. This time got a Joe/Gakuto bromance/romance going on. kiyoshi ends up BACk in Prison. Shingo tries to make his move but obviously that goes bad. Andre trying to find his BDSM torture lover and may just find it in a new woman not Meiko. This is stupid as hell still but man is it fun. But can it go on for another 8 deluxe volumes? I dunno!
Teenage years suck. Why? Because you're going through so many emotions, and so many thoughts are flying through your head, and on top of it all a lot of the times sexually motivated or frustrated. Author Inio Asano decides to cleverly depict teenage life through depression, loss, sex, and more.
Now the big thing here before jumping into this is understanding it's pretty raw. In the sense that these kids heavily talk about death, suicide, and of course there's a ton of sexual moments. I'm talking full on blowjobs, fucking, and so on. So if you are uncomfortable seeing teenagers depicted in such a way this might not be for you. I'm pretty lax on it all and even I was kind of shocked at moments, but more so with the outlook on death/depression instead of the sexual acts of teenagers. Why? Because teenagers like sex as much as adults usually. So no shock there really.
Now on to the story. This focuses on Koume and Keisuk. Koume is shown to be a girl who was rejected by the person she originally had a crush on after a sexual act. She then moves on with Keisuk, who is a depressed boy who just decides he wants sex. So Koume and Keisuk begin their sexual adventure together. Which is mostly just pure sex, at home, at school, wherever and whenever.
But see this all has a purpose. The sex is to shield them away from the pain they're both going through. Koume seems lost in life, unsure of what she wants, and maybe even a bit ashamed of it. Where's keisuk story is deeper, and a lot darker, especially when find out what happened to his brother. Together they basically are two miserable people and they clearly show a distaste towards each other at points that mirrors depression and anger.
What I found so interesting was how real the dialogue felt. Instead of typical romance/drama stories where they end in huge fights or get together, this ended extremely normal. Without spoilers, there's no happy ending, but it's not a sad one either. It's kind of just "normal" and that is what makes it special in a way.
I can probably keep blabbing on and on about this one because the more I thought about it the more it stuck with me. The feeling of loss and wanting to die is something I think everyone at one point goes through and can relate. I think this book shows it in the most honest and truthful way. I think the sexual acts might be tough on some due to the ages of these teens, but I think it was done in a way to show how hurt they both are, and how lost they really are.
If you can get through a dreary story filled with sexual moments I think you'll enjoy the more human moments here with the characters. It's not a easy read but I personally loved it. A 5 out of 5.

I didn't love this issue as much as everyone else. Some cool moments and Dylan being a badass but I didn't really get/like the whole spirit of light thing.
Easily the best issue so far. Easier to understand and follow, gorgeous art as always, and getting to see the Phantom in action was pretty badass. Also, love the way King writes his Joker. Such a little fucking bastard he is in this series.
This was a bit better than last volume if it feels too similar too. What helped was Ichigo feeling hopeless in this world, grimjaw returning, and Quincy and Renji teaming up. All of that worked for me. Sure the story beats are really similar to the Soul Society arc so no huge surprises but least the pacing is quick.
