Blue Exorcist, Vol. 1 by Kazue Kato
3.0

A okay shonen, just average as expected.

A teenager finds out he's the son of the devil and the devil wants to now use him but he refuses. Instead he joins people who can exorcise demons to get revenge for his father like figure who was killed because of the devil. Between him and his brother they work together on a way to rid the world of demons.

The dynamic between the brothers actually works. Obviously they love each other but they also have issues with each other. The best part is them working out their differences and the fight scenes being pretty easy to follow. But the rest of the story is typical, no real weight behind the story yet. No characters that spark interest right off the bat. I usually give shonen's about 3 volumes to really impress me before dropping so I'll give volume 2 a whirl but this was decent.
