So the soul society arc ends. This is around the time I hopped off the anime train. So what's to come is pretty new to me.

This volume is like a relief after the intense fights we just have. More relax and laid back than the previous 5 or 6 volumes. Some pretty funny gags at school, Ichigo and friends just relaxing, and everything seems to be going back to normal. But just then of course a HUGE hallow shows up and things go bad. A guy comes face to face with Ichigo and offers him to join his team. Ichigo father plays a...interesting role. The quincy's seem to be playing a bigger part afterall.

A solid followup to last arc but nothing mind blowing. A very "bridge" volume. A 3 out of 5.

Fantastic issue and part 7 of the Sword event. Shows not everyone is so excited to fight for their life. When a mutant has to decide to fight and has friends wanting to protect him in their own ways, will he find his calling? One of the most personal issues but very well told. Nice send off from Brisson.

Hulk decides he has had enough of Xemnu and his mind controlling shit.

The first half is a solid matchup between Hulk losing his shit and the whole world thinking Xemnu is the new "Hulk". It's a pretty entertaining match of the minds. Then we get another old foe coming into the picture. Gets you a nice little updated origin story and what he's going to do to Bruce Banner. It's a sinister, fucked up plan, but could be very interesting in the future.

I didn't LOVE this volume like the last few but there were a few standout moments and a interesting build of what is to come. Immortal Hulk remains a very strong title still, and while this is a weaker volume, it's still solid. A 3 out of 5.

We went from recovering from PTSD to a volume all about torturing and finding out the truth.

This is some sick twisted shit. Yukiko can't catch a break as she makes her way to this cult like family following their leader who slit her throat just a few years ago. When she confronts him he plays it off as a nice dude who has turned over a new leaf. But in reality we all know better. Without spoilers, the following events range from me getting pissed off to feel disturbed I'm viewing this. WHY CAN'T Yukiko BE HAPPY!

Overall, this series tends to play with my emotions. And while the last volume was a great look into the mind of someone, this goes more back to the root of this story...happiness isn't given to people. And in comes plenty of torture and fucked up moments. How will it all end?

Wow, I might like this more than volume 1 and I found the first volume really enjoyable.

We find out who the white hair man is right away. His name is Lee, and like our main character Anzai, he is a half devil as well. Lee gives the man some human blood, but unlike Lee, Anzai doesn't use blood, and so he becomes unstable and tries to lash out. This leads to Anzai not wanting to see Tsukasa anymore to keep her safe. Of course Tsukasa wants to see him and with the help of Lee she might get her wish. if it's not for the Sniper and her people putting their plan into action.

This is a nice world building volume but even more so, it's a pretty fucked up one with plenty of twist and turns. Just when you think you know who is good and bad you find out it is the opposite. With a big bloody massacre at the end, and plenty of people in the cross-hairs, we might have some major characters dying soon if they can't figure out how to escape.

Overall great volume with plenty of moving pieces, lots of great moments, and even some comedy bits. I like the new characters introduced and want to see where we'll go. A 4 out of 5.

This is a super fast paced volume.

Right away it picks up from where it ended. The daughter is almost completely turned into a tree now. Mother and son are trying to stop it. Grandpa is dying but he won't give up till he sees them safe. This hidden military like group trying to stop the growth of the tree. In 4 issues SO much happens when it's only like a hour of the time. It's pretty intense.

I actually enjoyed this more than volume 1 and excited to see where it goes with hints and some flash forward scenes sprinkled out in this volume. A 4 out of 5.

I've never read the "New Avengers" after Siege so was kind of cool to read this and it be all new. I did a re-read of the New Avengers line and read the majority in my teens so was nice to go back and read the rest I never did.

This has the "new" avengers team which is basically Luke Cage, wolverine, Spider-man and more. Maybe more street level type of heroes basically. But right into being more street level we have Voodoo, who is the new sorcerer supreme, attacked by strange, who isn't really doctor strange, and right away thrown into a huge threat that can DESTROY the entire world. So much for more street level villains, huh?

The art is pretty solid and there's some really good banter. Mostly with Spider-man and any other team member. I also liked the end result and was cool to see Iron Fist actually get a somewhat interesting storyline. The story itself is decent, but a little dragged on and the whole end of the world thing happened in volume 1...I'd like more street level fun first.

But overall not bad. If like the banter in the movies for avengers, and them working as a team, this works. Also a good jumping on point. 3 out of 5.

Nailbiter goes full blown batshit crazy in this volume.

So I made note the last time I read volume 6 (The end of the original series) That I enjoyed the series but thought the last volume was kind of a dud. This one, is thankfully, better.

So Alice and Crane are still our main characters here but we can't forget about Warren. We learned what happened to our faithful anti-hero here. But the end of the last volume had Warren jumping out to kill the love of his life! No it was a fake out, that shit happened. But how could it if Warren is actually somewhere else? Lots of twist and turns here. Pure chaos, some sick ass kills, and neck-breaking fast paced action.

This is just fun. This is what Nailbiter needed. I'm not saying it's great but it's way better than I expected it. The art is goofy cartoony fun making the kills even better. The action flows real well too. The story itself is so dumb and absurd but you take the campy corny feeling because it's a story about legendary serial killers.

Overall, sign me up for more.

Give me a Red Hulk going head to head with "The Hood" with the Infinity Gems in here and you got me a volume I kind of loved?

This is excellent fun over the top Avengers stuff I love. After The Hood escapes from prison he finds the location of one of the Gems in a Inhuman temple that was left. With that he uses it to retrieve the other gem from Reed while using the reality gem to trick him. With the Power Gem he visits Red Hulk and decides to lay the fucking SMACKDOWN on his face. This leaves the Red Hulk running to the Avengers to warn them of what is to come from this lethal beast.

While I wasn't a huge fan of Romita Jr. art in the last volume I enjoyed a lot of it here. Some excellent fight scenes and great emotions displayed. Watching Steve lose his shit over finding out Tony and his illumanti gang having been doing shady shit is wonderful. I also loved the Red Hulk doing, well, some badass shit here. Oh and how great was the ending with Steve? Some great comedy bits too.

The only negative is the last issue, felt super tacked on, and just a prologue for Age of Ultron. Kind of lifeless.

Starbrand is a decent story but man oh man is this run just feel so...pointless?

Jason Aaron is a solid writer. Some of his indie work is amazing, and I enjoyed Thor, but this...is so boring. It's just the avengers going on big adventures without any heart, just a couple of banter moments, and almost NO growth as characters. This avengers isn't a horrible run, and this volume is actually one of the better ones with Starbrand being reborn and the avengers going head to head with the Harolds, but...I just can't get behind this run much.

A 2.5 out of .5
