While not as strong as the last volume, the all out war is pretty entertaining.
The turtles team up with Fleabag and his group of mutants to stop Shredder and Krang at the same time. Lots of twist and turns, good guys going bad, bad guys getting screwed, good guys getting screwed. I did like how everyone hated everyone and so many plans at once that there were a good amount of surprises. The battles dragged on a little long for my liking and so many plans seemed built on the other person plan failing.
I really enjoy the ending and was in semi-shock of what happened and how brutal it was. I'm wondering where we go from here and if our turtles can recover. I also really liked the fights here. Shredder getting his shit wrecked was very very satisfying.
Overall, great stuff. While not my favorite volume it's really good. A 4 out of 5.

I think this was fine. Kind of surprised some people so harsh on it.
As a Swamp Thing book it's not really much about him. He's there in the overall presence but doesn't make his grand entrance till the end. Instead it's about the Holland brothers story of living their teenage life trying to be who they are. And it's kind of cool to see the comparison of people to plants and how we live and bloom similar to certain flowers.
This is a YA story if I ever read one. Kids being dicks, kids falling in love, lots of cursing, sexual tension. All the good stuff. As far as a YA story it's solid enough, characters act like teenagers I know. I also thought the art was cute when needed to be, and the display of the Swamp Thing was terrifying when it needed to be.
Not the greatest swamp thing story or anything but overall a fine YA story that includes Swamp Thing. A 3 out of 5.

Jesus the amount of craziness in this volume is nearly unmatched. This is Garth with freedom to say and do whatever the fuck he wants.
The first story stars Barracuda, a crazy hitman who decides to take a job from the rich mob family to fucking destroy the Punisher. The tale starts with Punisher taking out scum and saving one guy who was getting raped by multiple other guys. Of course this isn't a safe save as this guy betrays the Punisher and in comes Barracuda, one of the most insane, over the top, hilarious villains I've ever seen in a Marvel comic. I got to say, this arc was super fun, dumb as shit at times, but Barracuda is a awesome villain and brutal, able to go one on one with the Punisher was great.
The next arc is more serious where Frank goes to stop basically a warmonger who he didn't finish off before. This also leads to old friends, lots of betrayals, and some actual sad deaths. All of this worked and the ending to the arc was pretty good. A little long but good.
The final arc is about widows of all the people Frank murdered throughout the years. They want revenge. But when Frank gets a unlikely companion to help him finish off the woman it's this lady who becomes the new Punisher for a short time. Brutal, fucked up, and a super downer of a ending,t his arc was great and also dealt with racism in a different way than expected.
Overall, some great stuff all around. I was into pretty much all three arcs. Very different tones but they somehow all worked. Super Ennis can get wordy but least it's almost always entertaining. A 4.5 out of 5.

Rai might not have been my favorite hero of the Valiant lineup but I enjoyed volume 1-2 enough to check out more (I still have to read volume 3) But this reboot caught my eye for the art style and the idea of two, basically brothers, working together to hunt down creatures/robots similar to them in design to stop their Father from returning.
If you've seen things like Logan or played the Last of Us, you'll get similar vibes here. Rai and his (older, yet looks younger) brother Raijin embark on a quest to kill their father's offsprings. What starts off as a simple story decides to go deep into the meaning of life, purpose, and why we do what we do. Best part being that Rai is only half human and Raijin isn't human at all, yet they begin to show human like tendencies. By the end, after a major battle, there is no happy answer to this adventure.
And I think that's what worked here. While not always dour and sad, as Rai and Raijin have good banter, it has a sense of big epic adventure with a feeling of loss and unease. By the end I was wondering what Rai's goal was and when he said it to his old friend, it all made sense. I am eager to see where this series goes but for now, this is the best Rai story I've read. A 4 out of 5.

Holy shit...That's it. Chip has done it. This is a classic before even being called a classic. I haven't had this much love for Daredevil since I finished the Bendis/Brubaker run but this is just blowing me away.
Matt helps elektra do some dirty work. In fact, he believes it is to rob very rich people and put the money into the accounts of small businesses and people in need. But of course she has other ideas. This part of the story is so important because when the rich get things taken from them they aren't very happy. So what do they do? Send Bullseye and a bunch of other villains to fuck up Hell's Kitchen. While that is happening Cole has decided he has had ENOUGH of this cowardly shit and ask the cops if they really want to be cops or just useless fucks. Kidnapping of kids, churches being attacked, Kingpin deciding he must do the unthinkable...ALL of this comes to a head as the final two issues of this volume are so amazing I would argue issue 20 is perfection in comic book form.
And see that's just it. Chip gets it. He writes Matt SO fucking well. A character who always battles himself on what to do and what is the RIGHT thing to do. He writes the villains as they should be, pricks with too much money and power. He writes side characters with concern for their friend in a mask. He just writes everything so goddamn well that this is the accumulation of his run so far.
But let me talk about the art cause holy fucking shit is it just as good. The last two issues in particular are mesmerizing. The full display of destruction and scale of fighting is insane. I dunno if I ever seen it in a Daredevil comic but it blew me away. Like watching a movie the way it looked.
I am truly blown away by this volume. I mean volume 1-3 were excellent but this is top level god-tier shit. 5 out of motherfucking 5.

And so the conclusion is here. I personally wasn't expecting much from 3 Jokers, and for that, I think I enjoyed it more than people who were wondering the "mystery" behind it.
In truth it gives you a answer. One you might not like or already heard, but the reveal of the 3 jokers, many jokers, A joker, is all given. And the reason why too, just depends if you're satisfied with it. The push on for Barbara and Jason is also there, and while some might dislike it, I liked where it ended. The final punchline was actually given by Bruce this time, instead of the Joker, and was a nice twist on things.
Is it perfect? NO. But it was a lot of fun reading and to me, as strong as issue 1, with issue 2 being the best still. A 3.5-4 out of 5.

Half way point. Both sides have their Swords. Time to fucking Rumble baby!
Naruto does a bunch of training, Another user who had one of the two tails beast in them is hunted and must trying to survive, and a new mission for one of our major characters begins. Nothing over the top, felt more middle of the road volume, but decent bridge to the next big fights. A 3 out of 5.
Ever since Bendis left the Guardians of the Galaxy line, the series has been almost always good-great. Al Ewing, after the fame of his Hulk, decides to tackle the space fighters and for the most part, he nails it!
After the events of Donny Cates run, Rocket is now cool, smooth, badass operator. And when someone needs the guardians help, Nova asks them to join them, but only Rocket and Quill decide to go. The only problem is Quill goes behind the backs of Gamore and his other friends. This leads the small team of Guardians to stop a new, powerful, evil force but when their is a causality, and the guardians have to deal with the fallout, we have a lot of emotions running high.
The idea is fresh and fun. Having two guardians team basically split is badass. Having new members such as Hercules come in was a wonderful idea. Having the banter stay light and fun works well for what the guardians are known for. And the space adventures are damn fun. Sure, some of it feels like a big set up. The death is shocking but...not? And we know it is not the end for them. But the mix of the fun storytelling and stellar art makes this a easy one to recommend.

I love superman but these are just standard stories that none really link. Joe Kelly's probably the strongest of the bunch simply because he has a fun Clark Kent. I also liked some of Loeb storylines even if the characters lacked...something. Morrison's Superman is pretty terrible. Overall, not horrible but kind of boring. A 2.5 out of 5.
