So this is the review of the entire Black Circle: Urban Knights storyline. This is issues 162 - 164 of Green Lantern and Issues 23-25 of Green Arrow.
While not great it's a fun little crossover of Green Arrow and Green Lantern. You've seen this before but this is about Oliver working with Kyle. This is new because Oliver just returned from the dead and found out what his buddy Hal did. So he's not too happy to working with the new kid. But when the Mafia and aliens starting mixing will these two be able to work together to stop them?
This is a servicable team up comic. Nothing great, but nothing bad. I actually enjoyed Winick's part since the dialogue was stronger and it was a funner storyline for the most part. But Raab isn't horrible but his slang is...something. Overall the team up is action packed, few twist here and there, and then the heroes work out their differences.
A 3 out of 5 for it all.

Super charming, sweet, and while framed in the 60's and 70s, it's very relevant in today's society.
When the KKK is trying to push out a family of Asian decent Superman tries to stop them. This is a mixture of a origins for Superman and his start up days as a hero but also a tale of acceptances of who you are and what you are. Culture plays a huge factor here and get to see different sides and races from all over and how they deal with hate. While the art is amazing and cute, it still deals with some dark subject matter. Mostly racism. I enjoyed this tale a lot and though it gets a bit on the nose at points it is still SUPER fun read. A 4 out of 5.

I think I really enjoy most of what Cantwell writes. His inner dialogue is especially strong. Also what helps is the extremely strong art here. Tony is just trying to figure out what the hell to do in his life now. He scales back and instead of some big adventure or fight he teams up with Hellcat and tries to rediscover who he is. A quiet issue with good characterization of Tony. A 4 out of 5.
Chainsaw Man finishes it's last arc with some insane killings as our main hero unleashes the beast once more.
But it's the next arc that really shines for this title. All of a sudden a mass amount of hits happen on our agents as the demons strike back. In a flash multiple agents are getting shot to death and even our main hero gets attacked. Will anyone survive?
Chainsaw Man keeps up the hilarity with solid comedy, brutal action, and this volume packs a pretty big surprise twist. I can see why people are eating up this book. It's fun, great to look at, and filled with surprises. This might be the best volume yet thanks to the second half. A 4 out of 5.

This was pretty damn good, but very dense at points.
The thing is I love black and white format. I read plenty of Manga. Grew up on it. So it's no problem. But when you have a lot of action/characters you have to make sure your artist does good on details. I believe this might have had two artist because the style seem to change. Half is really good, other half is not as good.
That's pretty much my negative. Hard to tell what and who is who sometimes. But the actual story here feels real. The plans of sneaking around, protecting your country, sending your agents to kill and pull them out right after. All feels like it's really happening. This feels very adult-centerpiece and worked really well.
I loved most of the interactions between the characters. While don't get a DEEP view into their life you get to know enough to care. The main character, Tara, is the best character and the deepest you get into it for character development but the rest all have their share of good moments. I'll be reading more of this.

While not as engrossing as the previous series the art is still top notch and the character work is great.
The central part of the dead returning actually had a more somber and sad experience to it verses scary. I enjoyed that part of it and watching some of our older characters grow up and see how they react to the world now. The ending leaves for some interesting future installments and while I didn't fall in love with this volume like most of the others in the original series, it was still worth reading. A 3 out of 5.

This was bleak as fuck, and I kind of loved it.
This is a story that starts with a warning from Jason Aaron saying this is the darkest tale he's ever written. I actually believe him here. We have Ira Rath, a piece of shit hitman who will do pretty much anything for money. The story opens to him slaughtering a family, including a baby, just to set the vibe of the story. When he's given a mission to take out a family member you don't even have to question it, he's going after him.
This is filled with brutal murders, quick pacing, and characters you don't like. But somehow I was captivated the whole time, wanting to know who will live, and surprised at how some characters meet their demise. A brutal noir tale of sacrifice and vengeance, with a bloody cycle of revenge that never really stops.
Not for the faint of heart, but if you're ready for some dark shit, look no further. A 4 out of 5.

Whoa, this was a lot more fun than I thought it be.
Aydis, our viking lead here, is shunned out of community for basically being gay. You think people are bigots now? Image back then. So she goes on a mission to free a god because she was imprisoned by Zues because that dude is a dick. So we have a fun adventure that eventually splits into two tales but both are equally compelling.
I really liked the dialogue here. Tight and fun, with it not feeling "ancient" because of the time but also cheerful when it needed to be. The art is amazing at points, in others it looks goofy but on purpose. I had no major flaws with this one except maybe too short? I was done too quick and wanted more background to my characters.
overall, volume 2 is needed.

Man Kelly surprising the hell out of me. The start of the run was horrible but it's gotten better and better.
This time Black manta comes out of the water to exact his revenge on Aquaman but he has a big ass suit of armor this time. So aquaman, alongside every new character and old character in this run come together to face off against the son of a bitch. On top of that we get a cute story about a lost dog as well as Mera dealing with her unborn child and complications.
This was fast paced, a lot of fun, and so "adventurous" it was contagious. I just had a blast reading this and the art helped a lot too. I hope this run finishes strong because last few arcs have been great.

Hickman delivers another great volume!
Similar to the last volume most stories feel disconnected in a sense but that's because Hickman is focusing on SO many X-men you give time to each one in each story. Issue 7, which focuses on the Resurrection process with Apocalypse, Issue 9 with my boy Broo, and issue 11, which is a tie-in but intense showcase for magneto in both his leadership and power are the highlights of this volume.
This isn't to say Issue 10 isn't good too, because it is, but you might not know the members and have less of a reason to care. Issue 8 is solid but it's more of a lead up for issue 9 which helps with a major twist at the end.
Overall, if looking for world building like no other, X-Men is the book you NEED to be reading. A 4 out of 5.
