The end and I have to say I didn't love how it went down.

Grell for most part had a pretty great run. Some slips but nothing major. This one starts off great with Grell letting Green Arrow feel the pain of cheating on Dinah. The thing is Oliver is a piece of shit, and he knows this, and it's what makes this story arc interesting. Not to mention we have everyone after him in this making a nice bait and switch half way through.

The thing is this collection ends on a "origin" of sorts as Green Arrow first becomes who he is. But it's nothing special. In fact it's really flat in comparison to the REST of Grell's awesome run. Which came to me as a surprise and disappointment.

Saying that I enjoyed this collection just sad it didn't end as good as some of the earlier parts in his run. a 3.5 out of 5.

East of West keeps ramping up and I love it so much.

So the chief has returned. The main man. My wolf brother. And together wants to work towards a better future. Death is mostly in the background in this title with his son. Then got Mao up and center, and I LOVE this woman, as she makes her first plans. But the fastest slinger in the west still has a couple of tricks up his sleeves. One of the major characters gets what is coming to them. So much explosive action.

Overall this is a fantastic volume. I'm being vague cause too much spoilers but we're in the end game now and going to war. This is seriously some of the best that comics has to offer. A 5 out of 5.

I won't lie the weird idea of this story is what got me to read it but it really isn't as weird as it sounds.

So a 30 year old woman is kind of bored in life, hating mostly everything about it, and annoyed, jealous, and a bit heartbroken working with one of her old lovers. One day walking home she notices a boy trying to play soccer. She begins to kind of mentor him and then quickly begins to feel a fondness for him. Not sexual, more like big sister, or maybe a mother? It's weird feelings, but it somehow feels normal and works for the story given.

The story then makes a interesting choice to focus on the boy's friend in school, a young girl learning how to be who she wants to be in life. While I didn't expect this direction it is welcomed to get a nice side by side of school life verses our main character's life at work.

The series somehow is very charming even with a weird headline. I also think the actual story is paced well with solid humor. I'm not sure where we can go with this story but I'm interested to find out. A 4 out of 5.

This one went back in time to give us some history with Hawkman and I really don't give a fuck about Hawkman in ANY comic. So that was a bummer. Saying that we get a really fucked up scene with Joker that's kind of great. So for that it was worth reading.

This one picks up where the last one left off. Aang and Katara go on their adventure to speak to the earth kingdom leaders. Toph trains her new recruits. Zuko deals with more political decisions with his father. The zuko stuff is easily the strongest bit, and getting more of his past is interesting. Aang stuff is good, funny here and there. Toph, who I usually love, gets a dull story here. While good, not as strong as volume 1.

This goes back to more standalone stories.

Which means we're going to having varying quality as you read through the book.

There's some great ones in here like Fear of Falling, which is a nice short story about someone not wanting to fail, but too scared of trying. I liked this one a lot. August is great tale of Ceaser's nephew, and a dark past, but we all knew this was coming. I also really enjoyed the main tale here of The Song of Orpheus which is probably the highlight to see Dream's son and his downfall. You know it's going to be sad but I wasn't prepared for how sad.

There's a few stories that miss the mark for me. especially the last one. Not a fan of the story, the structure, or the art. Kind of downer for me overall. I also didn't love the Marco Polo story.

But overall it had a lot more good than bad, and that's what I've come to expect of Sandman. A 4 out of 5.

This is the book to complete my reading challenge of the year. 450 books/graphic novels/comics/manga down! Surprised did this being my first year with my daughter but here we are.

So Batman and James have to team up to hunt down a serial killer. It sounds simple enough and we've seen it a million times in Batman titles. But this serial killer is hunting and murdering people who've touched, hurt, molested children. This makes it question if stopping him worth it based on the disgusting behaviors of the victims of the killer.

What I really enjoyed here was getting the mindset of both Bruce and James. Both feel defeated on their pursuit but you only see that when they're alone or in their mind. Outside you would never expect it as they both put on brave faces in their own way. I loved the family dynamic and watching Gordon deal with both his child and his wife was perfect.

The ending result felt a little predictable but the emotion ran high whenever Batman or James had to talk to the victims of the sexual abuse. Seeing some still confused of why their parent was killed while others couldn't even talk anymore.

I think this title did the subject matter very tasteful and it being less than 100 pages really made it tightly paced and well created. I hope to see more serious subject matters from time to time enter our superhero world. A 4 out of 5.

Took me forever to finish this series but man oh man, it was a great one.

Love satire series and Mark Russell is honestly the master of it. We have more commentary on religion here, money schemes, work force issues, racism, and more. Again, between Mark Russell's tight writing and the amazing art by Steve we got a fantastic combo. All the characters look great, it's funny all the time, and smartly written. My favorite story is probably about bowling, and without spoilers, it has so much heart.

I'll miss this series can could have gone another 2 or 3 volumes but this was great. Check out volume 1-2!

The most powerful nation now decides to look towards "peace" as a answer to all the terrible things happening.

The 3 horsemen are on their way to destroy the world. First they must find "the beast".

The beast is Death's son. Death and his son just reconnected and now are doing a lot of father/son bonding. However, Balloon, The Beast's companion, might have a different view on how to raise the boy.

This is a lot of moving pieces and only covered a portion of this trade. So much backstabbing. So much revenge. The Prince is in for a rude awakening. And people begin to get slaughtered one by one. This is the end of times and it's getting sad.

A 5 out of 5.

This is a bit more world building and emotional impact than I expected.

With the main idea of the story out of the way we go deeper into why these spirits are dead. I mean his new sword, which is a 14 year old boy, is dead already to be used as a weapon. But why? how did he die? We get clues and we see what happens here after people die and why they turn into these monsters. We also get another god on site. This one, with a big fucking lion as her weapon, want revenge.

This is actually a pretty well written series. While this volume didn't impress me as much as the first I really enjoyed the comedy and emotional bits here. The humor is funny, and there's some great lolz moments. I also think it helps the characters act pretty normal and their dialogue is pretty solid. While I think the actual plot seems to be missing here some, it was a nice overall build up to character development and world building.

Overall a 3.5 but I'll bump it to a 4.
