Welp here it is, the first time I give Hellblazer a 4 out of 5. Garth is just a much better fit for the character.
So John and Kit are trying their best to figure out what they are. These are multiple storylines here, most being a one shot, two parter, or once in a blue moon a 3 parter. This helps flush out John as a person, really get to know the guy from Garth point of view. The stories that stood out the most for me were Royal Family, which is about crazy rich people summoning jack the fucking ripper demon form. The second is about a demon and a angel hooking up and having a kid. SO we see where he got the Preacher Blueprint from.
I also enjoyed the Holiday special, was pretty humorous and fun. Oh and the vampire king and John going back and forth and settling that they will be rivals at some point in the future while going through their entire life stories was pretty solid too.
The first story was good but it did get dragged down by the unnecessary amount of dialogue given. Also guest writer for issue 51 came along and wrote a weird story but one I just couldn't get into at all.
Overall this is a fine collection and the first time I was really into a Hellblazer title. Hoping it continues from here to be this good. A 4 out of 5.

Jesus, so many deaths and brutal fights. This volume is great and clears up any confusion from the last issue. Hoping this ends well but it feels like with only one more issue might get rushed? Hope not. Enjoying this event alot.
This is a great issue. While not as good as issue 1 I still enjoyed it a lot. Knowing Max is behind it kind of makes it like been there done that, but Diana is SO well written here, as is her neighbor and everything else. Charming, fun, and excellent fight scenes elevate this series.
Nightwing is back once more and he's ready to face his greatest foe, Shrike!
Well Shrike takes out pretty much everyone Nightwing fought the last few volumes to prove he's the best. But in reality this guy is just bitter Nightwing whooped his ass when they were kids and wants revenge for his "master. It's typical storytelling with some fun fights and Nightwing getting plenty of action.
The rest of the book just has weird mix of stories. Some solid like Nightwing being a cop and dealing with police brutality while also dealing with other issues like his partner. But the other half of him going back in time and such is all pretty bad.
A decent collection of nightwing stories. Nothing great. I can see Dixon was losing some steam in his otherwise really solid Nightwing Run. A 3 out of 5.

Sandman continues pushing into new territory as we get a confrontation I wasn't expecting. Lucifer and Dream.
See it starts off with Dream and all his siblings getting together. He reflects on his pass action of sending Nada, a mortal he once loved to hell. In doing so he decides he must travel to hell to rescue her. A typical mission of a "hero" on his way to save his long lost "lover" for condemning her to hell turns into a very interesting "Who rules what now" in a way I never expected.
The first half is great, but it's the second half that elevates this to new heights. When Dream has to decide who will take over hell. This creates a lot of piece of shit gods/monsters coming out of the woodwork to try and claim their right to the domain. This also leaves Dream to make some big choices and very interesting ones.
My only negative is issue 4 I believe, which felt so out of left field. I don't even believe it was written by Gaiman. It was about a boy who I believe could see the dead and gets bullied to the point of something happening. It wasn't bad but smacked right between two major arcs did it no favors and my least interesting part.
Still, this was amazing. A very easy 4.5 out of 5.

Jesus, this is one brutal Green Arrow.
I really actually like this volume. It showcases Oliver trying to get back to being a superhero while working with Black Canary and living his life. It's mostly two part or maybe 3 part storylines of him doing so. A old friend comes back into his life to ruin things. A murderer gets out of prison and Diana isn't going to stand for that bullshit after he raped and killed multiple people including kids. Also have a storyline about protesting which works well for today's events.
There's a lot to unpack here and it almost all works. While the copycat storyline is the weakest for me it's still solid. The loose ends of a major character in the last volume come to close in a brutal way. I really liked the honesty of this book as it feels like Oliver is just a normal guy trying to do good. It makes it a lot more relatable than most superhero books.
Overall, very much worth the read. This is one of the strongest runs in Grell's very good run. A 4.5 out of 5.

Whoa, I never ever HEARD of this series but it was a lot of fun.
So it begins with a girl getting bullied in class. So she finally gives up and calls a number on a bathroom stall that says hire them for help. A god comes and says he's there to fix all her problems. However, she doesn't believe him. Hilarity ensues. After that big first chapter we get much deeper into the God and his life but also the other main character of the series. Can they work together to stop demons and save people who is the god too much of a stuck up to do any of that?
This was really fast paced and fun. The fights were cool but it was the humor that worked almost all the time. Little slapstick but mostly just great reactionary humor. I also enjoyed all the characters, and especially the god, who's a piece of shit. I'll be checking out more of this series. A 4 out of 5.

Pretty cool to see Fantomex life in this issue. It's fast and fun, with exciting implications of whats to come. Also a nice call back to morrison's x-men. All in all very enjoyable. A 4 out of 5.
So my wife and I just finished Avatar yesterday (Yeah yeah yeah I know, I'm 10 years late or whatever.) And decided to pick up this part 1 since it was on sale on Comixlogy for so cheap.
Whenever comics continue the series it can go a couple of ways. Most times it feels cheap cash in to get the money flowing. But stuff like Angel and Buffy proved it can be done, and done well. So I was optimistic with this one. Especially with Yang writing it as I liked most of his stuff. How did this one turn out though, you ask?
Actually pretty great. We get into some political grounds as Zuko is tasked to fix the problems caused by his father. Kicking out the fire nation from places they invaded sounds like a reasonable thing. But what if people began working and living together because of it? Are we going to kick out them too? That's where Zuko and Aang come to disagreement that adds to some really cool moments and a great cliffhanger.
This is basically a episode or two of Avatar in one book and it was really enjoyable. The dialogue is great and snappy, funny when needed, emotional as well, oh and the art is wonderful which helps capture the spirit of the show really good. While a bit short this was well worth the read. A 4 out of 5.
