Another Orlando snooze fest. This guy writing is so boring. Solid art tho.
Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, Volume 10: New Mutant Order
Kevin Eastman, Tom Waltz, Bobby Curnow
This was fantastic. Watching all the mutanta team up in a fight was great. Awesome character development for Casey and April. Donatello doing his own thing was perfect. Just every storyline worked in this volume.
Sandman gets better and better as we return to Barbie, a character from Book 2.
This time Barbie is trying to live her life the way she wants. With her best friend she travels the streets of New York being free. However, the Cuckoo wants revenge and sends its creatures to try and get Barbie back into dream land. In doing so Barbie and her whole building of neighbors have to step into the dream world again to survive.
This is basically a rescue mission but with a lot of interesting twist and turns. People seem shocked Sandman is almost a background character but a almighty god is only so interesting, it's better he's the surrounding the main characters so he gives a bigger impression of "super" powered. I also really enjoyed the supporting cast. From two lesbian characters who are figuring out their relationship, a trans character who will do anything to save a friend, and a witch, everyone has time to show off their skills and background.
Sandman is a slow burn. There's not major fights or big climatic showdowns. Despite being in the DC universe, it doesn't feel anything like a DC book. It took me years to read this. In fact I read volume 1 around age 16 and didn't like it much. At 31 I appreciate the slow burn storytelling and deep look into multiple character's lives. This was a fantastic volume with a somber but touching ending. A 5 out of 5.

I reviewed all 4 of these issues (well issue 1 has two stories making it 80+ pages long) and I have to say this is the first time I'm REALLY enjoying a Wolverine story.
To sum it up it's basically wolverine trying to take down a baddie again. But this time he tries a new tactic. Maybe having his FRIENDS help him instead of always doing something on his own. This makes for new and exciting ideas. It helps that Percy has Logan's voice down-packed and the art is pretty fantastic. This is a great start to the new Wolverine story. A 4 out of 5.

I stopped reading Flash for a bit because this run has lost its way. This volume is better than the last but I still feel like Joshua is missing something.
So Flash is learning about the other "Forces" like Strength and so on. And in doing so he's going around the world trying to unite them all so they can take on whatever is coming. At the same time two thieves are running around being annoying little shits killing people because they want Flash to suffer as always.
See the story here isn't bad. I actually like seeing Barry and Iris team up and take down baddies. The dialogue ranges from solid to WAY to much exposition. The villains range from pretty cool moments to corny as hell. The best thing that's happening is Commander Cold storyline in this book but it's the background noise of it all.
While not great the ending sets up what happens to Wally in heroes of crisis. For that alone I give it a bit higher. A 3 out of 5.

Shame how this is packaged, because some of it is great, some good, and some boring as shit.
Let's talk about "The Price". This book starts off with Flash Annual 2 where Godspeed comes back. I like him so this was refreshing. More so we have Barry have to deal with the fallout of losing Wally. He's so caught up in a fight that he can't even process it yet. Not till the final pages where he goes to see Iris. Then we deal with Barry and Bruce working together through the Heroes in Crisis time period. Obviously both riddled with guilt as to what happened and working through it...somewhat. Then the next is Green Arrow and his story I already read but was really solid tribute to Red Arrow. Last but not least is a 3 parter Green Arrow story that feels SO out of place and not very good.
So there you have it. A great starting issue, a really solid Green Arrow issue. And also a good 4 part "The Price" story that revolves around Barry and Bruce dealing with loss. But then in comes the horrible 3 part green arrow story which drags this overall collection down to a 3. Sad, I was about to give it a 4.

Green Lantern, Volume 3: Brother's Keeper
Philip Bond, Rodney Ramos, Dale Eaglesham, Mike McAvennie, Judd Winick
Wow, this took me by surprise.
So the first half is pretty fun. Have the return of a villain who just HAS to get his revenge. Turning almost everyone against Kyle. It's silly, over the top, but pretty fun and a surprise ending. Then we get into a fun story of Kyle having his girlfriend Jen and his mom meet for the first time. They also go to a school reunion. All of this was top notch and very enjoyable.
Then we get into the best story of the bunch. A two parter about a hate crime. Terry, Kyle's assistant in drawing is beaten badly by a bunch of guys simply because he kissed his boyfriend outside a club. Filled with guilt and anger, Kyle tries to find out who could beat a 17 year old kid for something so small. This sends Kyle off on a rampage and confronting multiple people.
The last story is easily the strongest one. Hitting home since a lot of hate crimes DO still happen. So it was well told and well done. I also enjoyed seeing Kyle with his mother and girlfriend, all the dialogue feels very real. So for the second half it's a easy 5 out of 5 for me. But the first half isn't great and I can't give it more than a 3 . It's pretty forgettable. So I'll settle for this collection at a 4 out of 5.

Ah damn it, how did I NOT see that ending coming? LOL.
But still, very intrigued. I've never been a fan of Maxwell but they're doing some interesting things here with him. Diana is scared, but the way she puts on a brave face, makes me love this character. Another slam dunk for Mariko and the art here is fantastic with some stellar emotional moments. A 4.5 out of 5.

The three jokers has been teased for like 5 years now but we finally get some answers AND some resolution real quick.
I believe this is only 3 issues, or 3 parts, so they ain't playing around. This is fast paced, brutal, and pretty damn entertaining. Joker has effected a lot of people's lives but the big three (Bruce, Barbara, and Jason) take center stage on trying to locate the 3 sons of bitches who ruined their lives. With their actually being some big mystery, the biggest being their plans, what are the Jokers up to and how are there 3? Why? Where did they come from?
There's some amazing shots in here, my favorite being Bruce and his scars moment. No spoilers but it's powerful and really well done. The dialogue is pretty solid, and I love seeing Jason a asshole so he worked well here. Barbara gets to shine and I can't wait to see where she goes. Bruce is by far the most unhinged but I can't wait.
The ending is a blast and I want more. A 4 out of 5.
