Pretty solid start to an event I had no interest in. I think the ending brought the score up for me. Also hulking as a King is amazing.
After Krona sets his sights on the entities he unleashes hell on the Green Lanterns as he mind controls 99.9% of them. Who isn't effected? Well the green lanterns infected by Paralax back in the day.
So John, Hal, Kyle, and Guy must work together to tackle this Guardian who's pretty much wiping the floor with his mind control and unimaginable power. So each of them has to use a new ring that isn't the Green ring so it makes for some fun moments and explosive action. For a mini-event this is pretty great and a lot of fun.
The ending leaves the reader off in a shocking manner and gives way to the New 52 run. I enjoyed watching Johns, Peter, and Tony work together to give us a good event. While not as good as the War, or maybe even Blackest Night, it's still fun. A 4 out of 5.

This might be my favorite Giant Size so far.
It's just a small tale of Magneto doing a favor for a friend. I think it shows how Magneto is now days, very different than back in the day, yet still gives you the sense of fear at all times even when he smiles. Enjoyable self contained tale worth reading. A 4 out of 5.

The first half, or majority, is just one giant fight scene between Hiro and Inuyashiki. It's a bunch of missiles, explosions, and flying through buildings. I'll be honest, this is probably a lot better in the anime adaptation. Here it was hard to follow half the time and just lacked the "action" feel of the earlier volumes. Luckily the last portion is pretty strong with the feel of loss at first in a realistic way. But then something new happens and it can lead to the final two volumes in a interesting way. But for now it's a 3 out of 5 for this volume.
Deadly Class ramps up as it closes out it's second year.
So if you thought all hell was going to break loose...well you're right. Actually, the start of this volume had me a bit worried. The last volume, while good, didn't blow me away. This volume consist a lot of Marcus kind of being a depressed asshole and I know I'm used to it by now but it's slightly annoying at this point. BUT THEN...those final two issues kick in and shit goes bonkers.
Some of the greatest fight scenes in the series take place here. Some good funny moments, some emotional bits, and some MAJOR freaking deaths. Characters I didn't expect to bite the bullet did while others are somehow STILL alive. The ending especially leaves it up the viewer to wait for more and it is said to be awhile before we get another issue.
While not the best volume it ended pretty damn great. A 4 out of 5.

War of the Green Lanterns: Aftermath
Tyler Kirkham, Ron Frenz, Peter J. Tomasi, Scott Kolins, Ransom Getty, Andy Smith, Daniel HDR, Miguel Sepúlveda, Joe Prado, Tony Bedard, Bernard Chang, Chris Batista, Freddie E. Williams II
This wraps up Emerald Warriors and Green Lanterns corps run in a decent way, though nothing special.
After the big events of the last event, Green Lantern War, we have a few casualties, status quo changes, and this is wrapping up two big series at the time to make way to New 52. While it's not the best way to go out since they all feel like small individual stories and nothing major, they're still well written, especially Peter's. The last issue in particular I like a lot and the first with Kyle and John and Guy. The rest is okay. A 3 out of 5.

Ichigo and crew finally make it to Soul Society!
Or do they? Just as Ichigo shows off his new skills and lets a Giant know he needs to get through the gate a Captain shows up. Gin. And let's just say Gin doesn't play around as he quickly handles the Giant. All the first half is thrilling and fun and exciting. The second half? Not as much. Self proclaimed Soul Reaper hater is here and he's over the top stupid. Not to mention it felt almost like Filler as everyone just sits around waiting for the next plot point to go.
With a strange halt pacing this volume was heading for a 4 star but landed in a 3.

Did this come out around same time as Full Metal Alchemist? Because the tone/character design reminds me of it a lot!
So we have these demons who live inside people's bodies and use them to feed on people. It's nothing new. And we have a guy who decides to be a exorcist. Seen it all before. However, the tone, design, and overall pacing works well int his manga. I was instantly enjoying the main character and was actually shocked how fast certain characters died or were taken out. I believe that helped pushed my enjoyment on something that's done before. A 3 out of 5.

Reading this as part of my Omnibus read but figured since I'll be reviewing all the volumes one by one after 3 I'll start with volume 1.
So anyway, this is the story about how Sinestro is now a Green Lantern again. Remember the Nazi-like piece of shit who killed thousands and wanted to run the galaxy? Well he's back on the good side. Or so he claims. And him and Hal must team up to safe Sinestro home Planet from his very own corps. While that's happening the Guardians being their sneaky little selves are planning to create a whole new corps. Because...well they're kind of pieces of shit and they cause more problems than they ever do good.
I enjoyed this a lot for the most part. The first five issues have Hal trying to figure out what's important to him. Sinestro not being a complete piece of shit. And plenty of great art with awesome fight scenes and deaths. The last issue is build up to the next art but the art is pretty awful, or the coloring maybe, but it took me right out. Also, the guardians making more problems is starting to get old.
Overall all though a good start to New 52 GL. A 4 out of 5.

There's indie comic art and then there is this....
I'm really not sure I can even give the art 1 star. It's so awful, muddy, ugly, and hard to even understand what the fuck is happening. The story itself isn't the worst thing though the twist been done a million times. But thankfully this was 90 pages, very short, because this was pretty hard to get through.
