For some reason I just can't get into Tokyo Ghoul Re like I did the original series, but saying that, this is by far the best volume so far.

It mainly focuses on Shu and his depression. After believing Ken Kaneki was dead he just couldn't go on living anymore. So this time, the "mouse" has given Shu's right hand man the tools to make him come back. With Shu ready to to get his friend/lover/creepy obsession of Kaneki back what will he do to do it? On top of that Rose, the kidnappers, make their move but the CGC is on it and Kaneki and his team are lethal now.

Overall, this is pretty good. I liked the focus on Shu and getting to the point of getting out Kaneki back. The CGC is flushed out more, and I did enjoy the main core more this time around. I'm not digging a lot of the side characters and feel the author introduces so many for almost no reason other than he could. The art remains strong, and while I don't love some of the character designs looking too similar, the actual battles are getting better and better.

While not at a 4 yet, it's an improvement over volume 1-3. A 3.5 out of 5.

Well you can tell this is Oshimi first work. Probably the weakest he's done, yet still interesting.

So our main character is 30 years old, his wife is pregnant, and he's wondering what he's doing with his life. He begins to think back on all his past relationships, if you can call them that, and remembers in middle school a girl straddled him when the lights went out. So he for some reason has that on his mind as his 5 month old wife yells at him for not quitting smoking because...SMOKING KILLS YOU FUCKING DICK. Okay so I have no sympathy for this guy at the start. One day he's walking by a internet cafe and decides to stop by. Guess who he meets there? That girl from middle school. So they begin catching up but as they're about to leave there's a flood. And then boom, everything goes wrong.

I don't have to love a main character to enjoy the book I'm reading. so I got passed that but it was harder to like him the more I got into it. Especially when he's becoming a horn dog to this girl while his wife is at home, upset, with a baby in her belly. But then the story shifts more sci-fi and we get thrown into a weird place which I won't spoil. There's some shocking moments with the slow build up, and the ending is what the fuck. The dialogue can be pretty awful too, while the story itself can be interesting.

It's a conflicting manga, one I'm not sure I'd recommend. I believe his newer works are far better. But if want something weird, check it out. I will mention as a warning this does contain rape and some gruesome violence so be prepared. A 2.5-3 out of 5.

Dull, boring, retreading same storylines from the past. I think I really gotta just stop reading Iron Man comics. None have blew me away...ever.

A stronger outing than volume 1 but not up to the greats yet.

This series gives me heavy Bleach vibes mixed with maybe Yu Yu Hakusho in some ways. Basically our main character dies in the first chapter in this book. It was semi-spoiled in the last book as the title suggested "SOMEONE WILL DIE NEXT VOLUME" and so he does. But he's our main hero, and he has to come back, right? But the demon makes a deal with him that might not be worth coming back to life afterall.

Overall, it's pretty fun. The series lands on some comedic moments pretty well. The characters feel slightly cliche but I'm starting to warm up to them. The art is pretty solid and some of the fights are fucking awesome looking. Also the actual plot is starting to form and it's thanks to that this is a stronger volume than the last.

A 3.5 out of 5.

Geez, this is not a good book, yet I can't stop reading.

So if thought the shocking events of the last book were bad, this one piles it on in the first few chapters. Now we got the big hulking massive dude coming to the girls rescue. Knocking out the two people who tried to rape her. A hero! Oh wait, no, he just wanted to rape her himself...that's the start of it. The next few chapters are equally uncomfortable as this hulking moron just makes demands and somehow becomes the "leader" of this group in some of the dumbest ways possible. The plot itself moves at a snails paced and we don't get any closer to the truth.

The thing is, this series is just weird. It's weird because characters act as plot points to move the story. But I'm not sure what the story is? Don't cheat? Don't look back on your past? Don't trust anyone? I mean 3 out of the 8 or 10 guys are rapist already. Then got the main character who can't even throw a punch. Tono has powers...I think...atleast enough to stop being raped?

I dunno why I'm reading this. Maybe because I do like Oshimi's other work A LOT and hoping this gets better. It's a bad manga but it's somehow entertaining. A 2.5 out of 5.

The start teaser something more grand, and more interesting, than what we got. Still, the adventure was wacky as shit but some fun moments and awesome art as spots makes it worth reading. Was a tad disappointed though.

Cable makes his appearance in the Ultimate universe with a neat twist. We learn some secrets of Xavier which are kind of just creepy. This volume is pretty good but it feels like Ultimate X-Men line was getting pulled from a bunch of other series and can't figure out the new status que. The ending leaves it up for some cool ideas to revisit but this is kind of messy. A 3 out of 5.

Man, this was going to be a 5 star, but then a section really drags it down for me. Still, we got something pretty damn good here.

I've read a lot of Oshimi now, some really good "Flower of Evil" and "Blood on the Tracks" are both great reads. Where's the oldest stuff he's written, Internet Cafe, is pretty bad. But this? This is pretty damn good start.

We have our main character, Makoto Ozaki, as he's basically unsure what to really do with his life as a middle schooler. He's bullied and treated like shit by all his classmates except one, and he seems kind of bored with life. Then one night he's attacked by a vampire and she offers to let him live or kill him, and he doesn't want to die. So now HE'S the vampire.

This has been done many times before. However, this time the ascent into being a vampire is pretty bad. Hates sunlight, makes him weak, blood drives him mad, and he can barely control his urges. He soon learns walking around crowded classrooms in his school that a lot of girls his age have their periods and this makes him sick. Usually I'd say most of Shuzo Oshimi work involves some type of sexual moments but this felt more like a actual interest plot. I also enjoyed Ozaki as a character, which he is a coward at times, and brave at others. The artwork is top notch too and it's a really easy fast read.

My negative comes with another character who is introduced to help Ozaki. And while she's okay it's her introduction and the next 30-40 pages that just feel kind of dull and cliche. I didn't like this part of the book much.

But, this is a interesting start. enough to make me order volume 2 and 3. Hoping it continues to get even better. A 3.5-4 out of 5.

Live Forever is a webtoon that you can read online completely free, and that surprised me because this is pretty great.

Sarah loses her mother in this story very quickly. She can't really come to terms with death. It's scary and something she never wants to go through. So she visits her neighbor Samuel to find out if he's a vampire and to get his blood for immortality. What sounds simple turns into a complex theme story of love, loss, death, and acceptances. By the end of this 53 chapter story I was kind of shocked how many different turns and genres we went through to get to the end.

What worked so well was the theme of loss and death. It's never ever easy to talk about. I hate death, it scares me, and anytime I'm sick or going to the doctors I get worried. Because there's so little time in life and we all want more, so listening to Sarah and what she's been through and going through is great because you can relate.

It also helps the rest of the characters are well done and interesting. Mixing genres might not work for some but hitting some big supernatural moments made me intrigued to keep reading. I also really enjoyed the art work, the mix of black, white, and red colors is an amazing idea and really shines.

I will say some of the dialogue can be a bit on the nose. Like we got the themes or idea but then it is spelled out for us. But saying that the author was going through a tough time in life and I understand this was a book that made her get through it.

Overall, this is pretty great, free or not. Well worth checking out. A 4 out of 5.

This volume almost completely focuses on Hiro, and it makes it the most entertaining volume since 2.

The first half is Hiro losing his mind even more. After the horrible events of his actions in volume 2 it seems he might be having a breakdown? But then when trolls online keep taunting him he decides to kill them all. Better watch what you post on Redit and 4chan! Then the 2nd half kicks in and we got a storyline I was not expecting. Maybe a change of character?

I really liked this volume because of how fast paced it was. Also how brutal it was too. The best part is easily the change half way through to give us a new future for this character Hiro. Also that cliffhanger ending is "HOLY SHIT" good. I can't wait to see what happens next.

This is easily my favorite volume since 2. I hope it continues to be a crazy fun ride from here. A 4 out of 5.
