After the epicness of the last 3 volumes we slow it down here.

We get to see our hero learn some new moves and work with the swordmasters. It was actually pretty great to see their side of things more and learn about them. We also get the villains finally about to strike back and it's not looking to good. The book ends on a mega cliffhanger and sets up volume 14 to be fucking fantastic.

Also the faces in this are perfect.

Not as good as the last 3 volumes but still great.

Young Justice keeps up the fun antics of the basically teen titans replacements during this time.

The thing that works about Young Justice is everything is really fun and cheerful. Never too serious. They did do serious plotlines before but this volume is just a mix mash of a bunch of small stories. Got one where the Young Justice face off against a alien race for earth. Another where Lobo joins the team. Another where Robin's girlfriend and secret fight and so on. There all fun little adventures with our young heroes.

While nothing is mindblowing it's nice to see no crossovers here. Reads far better. A 3.5 out of 5.

FINALLY! Tokyo Ghoul is starting to return to it's former glory.

With Shu's family under attack we get to see the CGC really attack and terminate an entire family of Ghouls. One of the strongest in fact. With Shu and his servants making a last stand will they be able to survive this onslaught? Not to mention Kankei's mind is breaking and his past is starting to come back to him. On top of that this is a blood bath as multiple characters are fed to the slaughter here.

This is by far the best volume in RE so far. Mostly because we get to see a lot of old characters again, but also the fact Shu is presented in a new way I enjoyed. I also loved most of the fights, they're brutal and there's an amazing shot of a sacrifice I won't spoil. The only negative is sometimes the fight scenes can be a bit jarring, or the faces too similar to another character.

But THIS is what I wanted with RE since it started. Now we're getting somewhere! A 4 out of 5.

Dead Dead Damon has a interesting enough setting with Aliens coming to earth but kind of just not doing anything right away. Kind of like Trees. However, the main story is about Kadode and her life as a teenager.

Inio at this point is one of my favorite slice of life writers. He puts really interesting situations with just normal everyday things. While the aliens being on earth is a great background setting it's really Kadode and her best friends story that's interesting. Life goes on even with a major event like Aliens coming down and while they might effect certain plot points its watching the characters grow that is the best part.

I really enjoyed this book. Kadode is a interesting character with a lot of charm but also going through so much. On top of that her best friend is too funny but also a great secondary focus in this story. The storylines themselves are interesting from loss of a family, to love, to taboo love even. It's all here, and it's presented really well. It also helps the art is great.

I can't wait to read more. This is my favorite work behind "The Girl by the shore" and well worth reading. A 5 out of 5.

Kind of disspointing. Just basically a recap of the events of Dceased issue 1 and 2. It's cool to see the outside look of it not being Superheroes but still nothing special.

While this volume wasn't as good as the last it is still a step in the right direction.

This mostly deals with the end of the Shu family. Or atleast the extermination arc for them. Kankei makes his grand return, or so you think, and it might end up going a different way than expected. We also have Kankei's crew dealing with a vicious villain and it might not turn out too good for them. The second half deals with tracking down the One Eyed King. Do we have the answer? Well...

This was a intriguing end that boosted it for me. When it ends I was like "Oh fuck where do we go now?" and I also liked most of the wrap up with the Shu arc. I still have trouble telling who is who, mostly based on faces kind of blending at times or action scenes being too busy sometimes. It's so odd because sometimes the scenes are clear as day and wonderful to view, and other times the action is far too messy. Either way when it was good, it was great, when it was messy, it was harder to like at points.

But overall another solid volume. I'd go with a 3.5 but I'll bump it to a 4.

This was pretty tense for a lot of sitting around and waiting.

The boys are back together and this time they push forward to create a detective manga. This gives them something to fresh to work on and they most compete with two friends who are also putting out work for the new shonen gold cup! After they all get good ratings they are forced to wait to see who gets picked up for a new series.

It's tense, funny, charming, and well crafted. You get to see a lot of the behind the scenes stuff about making manga and I love almost all of it. The negative is sometimes it is overly wordy at moments but honestly it's easily pushed away for the characters are so well crafted. It helps the love stories seem to actually be getting better too.

Maybe the best volume yet, this series continues to impress. A 4 out of 5.

Fish out of water with a conan like character, what could go wrong?

Jeff Lemire tells a interesting tale of two men who are basically broken inside and unsure what to do but come from two very different eras of time. It's through this tale of loss for both of them that they somehow become friends? It's so weird yet somehow Jeff Lemire weaves the tale to tell it well. The art is great, with it able to showcase both emotion and brutal action. While I thought the series wrapped up FAR too quickly it was the tale to get to the end that made it enjoyable. A 3.5 out of 5.

Another highly suspenseful, fucked up, and so goddamn well written entry into one of the best Manga I've ever read.

This time we mostly focus on a Private Eye called Richard and he begins snooping in on our killer. While doing that we get to learn about him and his situation and family. At the same time it also begins to link to all the characters we know and love. By the end I was in awe how it all came together.

Monster feels so different than most manga. It keeps it's atmosphere and characters so down to earth, so much like real life, it feels so different compared to most manga. I'm blown away by the character development and pacing. I try my best to read these deluxe editions slow but I still speed read through them because there so good.

Obviously a 5 out of 5.

A nice little horror story about a prince on the run from killers while also trying to survive the apocalypse. Apparently this was the inspiration for the show "kingdom" on Netflix. Never seen it but this was pretty fun, exciting, and brutal. I'd say it ends a bit on a weird note, like it just ends. But I liked what I read and would have read more but it seems it was just a one and done.
