This one was just okay. It's basically clark finding his way in his late teen years. Going into the Military, forcing to kill people, fighting underwater for Atlantis...none of it really is all that interesting though. I did like the art tho but that's about it. A 2 out of 5.
I was actually more excited for this than house of X, but I have to say...this one didn't blow me away.
The start is interesting enough. Watching Xavier try to enjoy life was nice. Then a mysterious woman sits near him and we jump through various timelines of X-Men or mutants and what the future might hold. A new terrifying villain? X-Men that look like other X-Men might know and they might be their children? or grand children? Lots of mystery, set up, and...that's pretty much it.
I wanted to love this. There's some cool moments and solid art, but nothing really got me that excited to read the next. Good but not great. A 3 out of 5.

Well this is the true ending to Jason Aaron's Thor run.
Was it good? Bringing back King Thor, facing off against the God Butcher AND Loki. I mean, how much more epic can you be? This is really one big long battle which ends in a bloody showdown for the fate of...well every single god and pretty much everything. With King Thor using his final stand with his daughters and Loki, will it be enough to end GodButcher for good?
The first two issues are fantastic. It's one big super saiyan like fight with Thor and Loki going at it, and then Thor and Godbutcher. It shows the relentlessness king never bowing down to no one. Then we have the final two issues, which slow down a bit, and a unexpected last issue which is actually bitter sweet. I enjoyed issue 4 a lot too, but issue 3 suffered for me in a lot of ways, and I wasn't all too thrilled with that issue. However, with a nice wrap up and two fantastic opening issues, this is still very much worth reading. A easy 4 out of 5.

This was a mix bag. Some fun stories, especially the Spider-man stuff. I liked almost all the stories in there for him. There's also one shots here and there that worked really well. Then some that were dull and did nothing for me. All mattered which story. Either way worth reading for the accomplishment of getting to 1,000!
Despite being the weakest entry in the series so far, it still remains highly entertaining.
We have John Lynch on a journey across america finding all his old comrades, or experiments, and warning them what is coming will end them. It's actually small stories of each character that push this volume to the next level. On top of that we are pushing the building blocks to the all out war that is about to explode by the end of this volume. We also building up the Authority to return. Everything is coming to a clash but this is the build up to that.
And being that it is a build up, it can feel a little slow and also feel a little "empty" in the sense the big "moments" don't happen here. Saying that, the stuff with John Lynch is amazing and emotional, even though I don't know most of these characters. I feel that reading old Stormwatch and Authority will help make this series even better. However, the ending is a great "oh shit" moment and the art remains great with some of the best fight scenes in comics.
Overall, still a great volume. Weakest on of the series but saying that it is still a 3.5-4 out of 5.

For a comic titled "Action Comics" this is way less action than the main Superman line comic. Saying that, this was pretty great.
Supes is dealing with losing both his wife and son. Both went on an adventure with grand old papa and now Clark is on earth trying to pass the time till he sees them again. It's only about 2 issues in when the first twist happens that'll change everything. On top of that we have a new villain in town, Red Cloud, as they go around making everyone suffer. Can Superman stop this new criminal or will they be too much?
Overall this is great. Clark is most interesting when he's most human and this shows on display really well. Watching Clark deal with the loss of his family is great too. The actual moments between husband and wife works really well too. The art is fantastic too. Overall, some great stuff. The new villain, while interesting, comes off kind of one note on what they want but we'll see if we grow from here. A 4 out of 5.

Growing up I was never a huge Superman fan. I guess when young, or teenager, you're always going to be more into the ultra violent "badass" superheroes. So Supes was scratched off my list really early on in my comic reading days. As I got older I started to be more attached to a guy just trying to do the right thing. Then when he had a kid, and I am now a father, I relate even more.
So Peter had been killing it on the main Superman line in rebirth. Sure, some arcs towards the end got wacky but the family moments really hit. I loved everything with Jon and Clark and Lois. It all worked really well. Then came Brian Michael Bendis, and one of the first things he does is age Jon 7 years, making him a 17-18 year old teenager. Twitter exploded, and I'll admit even I was taken aback. People loved this new kid Superboy, especially Super sons with Damien and Jon together. So why go and ruin that?
Well this is the volume that actually proved to me age really doesn't matter. The reason I loved Jon, besides his innocence, was his eagerness to prove to his dad he's a hero but also a good boy(man) and always be respectful. This Jon here hasn't changed a bit. Still filled with eagerness to prove his worth while protecting those who need it. We still have Superboy in his prime (no pun intended) just a tad bit older.
This volume focuses on the return of Superman's son but we get to learn why he aged. The story is actually sad and it made me worry for a huge twist but luckily it didn't go a bad way. With that we get pretty much the entire house of el, and more, teaming up to finally take out the crazy son of a bitch who keeps trying to kill him. On top of that Superman has to figure a way to bring all the space communities together.
Overall, this was great! I truly loved everything with Jon. I also enjoyed the dialogue a lot with Jon, his father, and mother. It rang true, it gave us emotion, and the feelings hit you all at once. The art is pure bliss, as each fight scene is bigger and better than the last. Bendis builds a universe around these characters and it all works so well.
My one negative was probably the way they stop the villain. It all happened a bit too fast.
Overall, I truly enjoyed this chapter. This might be my favorite Superman story since the first arc or two in Superman rebirth. A wonderful comic for Superman fans! A 4.5 out of 5.

This was pretty bland.
Basically Green arrow lives in a forest, bad guys come, he has to stop them. Then he has to go after his mother because she is now queen bitch. That's the entire storyline in a nutshell with some weird white lantern stuff happening in the background due to brightest day event.
But the thing is this story isn't interesting. It's not very fun. Oliver comes off panicking ALL the time and it's annoying. The fights are cool I guess as is the general art, but nothing really feels like it matters. Just a Green Arrow story inbetween the Black Canary/Green arrow series and New52. Atleast not as bad as first few volumes of New 52 but nothing worth picking up.

Wild Storm has been one of the best surprises from DC, and I'm happy to say it ends so damn strong.
While the first half of this volume is building up the big climax, it does so in a much faster and more interesting pace than the last volume. With Skywatch and IO about to go at it, our heroes all finally come together. We also get Midnighter and Apollo in the picture, and they are by far the cutest couple ever. Together the heroes have to work together to show these two mega corporations that they won't stand for their shit.
The art is so GODDAMN good. The fights are some of the best in comics IMO. Also the emotional bits with characters I hardly really know is still great. The pacing is frantic even despite a lot of information being thrown at you, which makes it a crazy fun read. The end result is great and builds up to future stories if Warren would be so nice to continue one day.
Really, the whole series is great, but this volume is the best. A 5 out of 5. I hit my 600th book of the year on a high note.

Death in comics is never really permanent. Least in the big two. However, if you're going to do it, hit me with all the emotions. This issue does just that.
A suicide mission has all our favorite X-Men go full on ahead with their attack. They must stop a plan from going forward that'll end mutant kind. It's brutal, it has heart, it has stakes, and most of all it has emotion. The deaths of characters matter and the ending will give you chills. I can't wait for the next issue now.
