Superman: Action Comics Vol. 1: Invisible Mafia
by Brian Michael Bendis
For a comic titled "Action Comics" this is way less action than the main Superman line comic. Saying that, this was pretty great.
Supes is dealing with losing both his wife and son. Both went on an adventure with grand old papa and now Clark is on earth trying to pass the time till he sees them again. It's only about 2 issues in when the first twist happens that'll change everything. On top of that we have a new villain in town, Red Cloud, as they go around making everyone suffer. Can Superman stop this new criminal or will they be too much?
Overall this is great. Clark is most interesting when he's most human and this shows on display really well. Watching Clark deal with the loss of his family is great too. The actual moments between husband and wife works really well too. The art is fantastic too. Overall, some great stuff. The new villain, while interesting, comes off kind of one note on what they want but we'll see if we grow from here. A 4 out of 5.
