Buffy gets rebooted in time for the remake that's supposed to come out in the next couple of years. WhohoooOOOOOooo!

Actually, I'm just about done with Buffy's comic series that was a continuation of the TV show. While it wasn't always great (Fuck you 2nd half of season 8) it did have some great moments (season 10-11). This is a complete reboot. The first issue even feels a lot like the TV shows first few episodes, but quicker paced, but hitting same notes. Notable changes like making Willow gay right away, introducing Spike a lot earlier, using modern day slang to replace late 90's. Overall, it feels like 2-3 episodes mashed together in 4 long issues.

Saying that, it mostly works. I'll admit the first issue was intriguing but not super impressed. I was worried it would follow the show too close. Not give itself the freedom to try new things. As it went on, clearly that changed. Sure, most character's stayed similar but there were a TON of new plot points and a great ending twist. Also, the art, THANK YOU. This art looks much closer to show, way better, and more vibrant.

Overall, I'm hooked. A 4 out of 5!

This was fun as hell.

Funny enough while some of my favorite writers (Snyder) are going into heavy exposition and overly long storytelling in their stories, Coates is scaling back and learning how to mix actual comic pages with dialogue. After how good Coates Captain America was I had to give his newest Black Panther a chance. So glad that I did.

This is over the top fun space adventure. Our favorite Black Panther hero has lost his memories. He decides to fight on, break out of his prison, and become the hero (and king) of space. After learning the Wakanda empire spreads further than Earth, T'Challa decides to start his own revolution in space and fight back.

This is over the top as hell and fun. Watching awesome sweeping space battles, T'Challa whooping ass, and the art all being pretty solid everything there works well. The storyline is a bit silly and it takes a second to even understand what's happening. The villain is lacking though.

This is overall pretty solid. It's a big step in the right direction. A 3 out of 5.

This...this is a hell of a way to end things. All about family.

So FF to me remained quality through almost its whole run. A few misses here and there, and even in this volume, there is a issue that didn't work with me. However, for the most part it's been good-great. This volume is mostly broken up stories, first starting with a little Peter and Johnny dispute and friendship moment. I read this before but enjoyed it again here. Then we get a space trip with the kids, which is pretty adorable. We also get some build up with the Inhumans and black bolt returning to earth. Last but not least Franklin (adult version) teaching his younger self how to create universes while also saying goodbye.

I liked almost everything here with the exception of the inhumans stuff, it was a little fuzzy and not that interesting. All else ranged from super fun and enjoyable to downright cry moment with Franklin saying goodbye. This touched on what Fantastic Four is about, family. A easy 4 out of 5 for this one.

This was a nice breezy read, some funny moments, and some brutal deaths. It's all about the world after the internet is basically exposed, and everyone's darkest secrets are shown. Now there's people who go full analog, and do some intense thriller shit. The first half was a ton of fun but the 2nd half kind of got a little too wonky. Overall though it was solid. A 3 out of 5.

This was...fine?

The thing is Legion of Super Heroes is fun but nothing much more than that for me. I enjoyed the moments with the characters, Mark waid has a lot of funny moments to spread here. The space adventure feel is pretty fun and getting to know the characters was pretty interesting. However, there's SO many fucking characters I felt like I was in season 4 episode 2 of a TV show. Also...it was kind of cheesy at moments. Overall decent, and wanted to learn more about them, but probably won't read more of this series.

I'm so sad this is the last book (right now) that Kelly Thompson will be writing for Jessica Jones, because she's got her voice down.

The last volume ended with Jessica Jones daughter turning purple. This brought up a lot of doubt. Is purple man still alive? Is the baby still Luke's? Did purple man do something to Jessica? It's a great build up and also let's us see the effects of what Purple Man did to his victims including Jessica. Who is behind it all? That you'll have to read to find out.

The build up is great. Looking into the mind of Jessica is great and a wonderful insight to it all. I also enjoyed the fighting moments, both brutal, and show off what Jessica can do. I thought too the art was pretty spot on. My negative would be the reveal, which I guessed, and didn't love. Everything else worked. A 4 out of 5.

The famous "death" issue of Captain America and the first part of the 3-parter after his death.

Cap has thrown in the towel after the Civil War. He's ready to go to court but outside the court house he is sniped from behind. The bullet isn't fatal but it makes the crowd go crazy and that's when the bullet that would finally kill Captain America happens. The next 4 issues following are Sharon, Bucky, and Falcon dealing with the aftermath of the attack.

This volume is a pretty emotional driven arc. After the death we have a lot of character's dealing with his death in different ways. Bucky's is one of the hardest to read as he just got his friend back and now he lost him again. Falcon and Sharon eventually team up, but agent 13 plays a HUGE part and it's pretty great read. All the moving pieces begin to come together. The only negative really is that's its only a part of the big epic.

I can't wait to dive into the next volume but so far this is pretty great. A 4 out of 5.

The Flash War is here, and it's Wally and Barry at each other's throats.

This was building up for awhile. I kind of love that Wally has been having his memories slipping back into him. After the loss of not only his wife but kids, we need some freaking story for that. This isn't a simple wipe the slate clean. So when his memories return he is going crazy and every single time they come back into his head he begins to have these speed force mini explosions. Which help put Heroes in Crisis in a newer light for me. ON top of that we also have Barry trying his best to keep his family together but it's not so easy.

This is high end action packed adventure with a lot of cool moments. The art is sketchy as always but works well in action. Besides the last issue I enjoyed the art a lot. On top of that watching Wally get a lot of the spotlight was nice since he is easily my favorite Flash. The ending is also a big "OH SNAP" moment. The exposition dumps were a bit annoying at times though and the villains kind of came up a little on the disappointing side.

A 3.5 out of 5, almost a 4. I'll bump it to that because believe Flash is in a good place.

Was a solid ending but didn't blow me away. Gage does a great job with the dialogue but the pacing drags a bit here and the ending wrapped up too nicely in the end.

Well it's better than the last volume. SO that's good news. Bad news? It still kind of sucks.

This volume is basically a mishmash of trying to be light hearted fun with some weird magic shit going on where two worlds, or realities combined, and now we have Martian Girl on the team with half the teen titans like beast boy and raven. Together they solve it all. The second half is dealing with Nightwing getting shot in the head and the team reeling from the events.

This whole thing isn't great but it's not horrid. It's borderline saturday morning cartoon episodes...however I did like to get actual emotions out of characters after losing their friend and also some funny moments before that. Saying that, still not great or even good. This series hasn't been good at all. A 2 out of 5.
