This is probably the best volume so far.
The first story is mostly about Skinner before he became a vamp. Him and a group of men are trying to attack a troop of indians. Of course the indians go to summon something they can't control, a vampire with massive power, but mostly this is the story of Skinner being a complete piece of shit even before he became a vampire. Then the next story is all about Kidd. Who's that? He's a badass elvis looking dude who kills vampires for a living. It's really high end fun. The last story is a two parter of another person we know from the last book. Don't wait to spoil it but we seeing the last American Vampire and what they are up to.
Overall, fun. That's the word this volume would be. Skinner is a piece of shit and he's on full display here. We also get Kidd, who I hope returns, because he's the best character next to Pearl for me. I loved how the plot moved forward to despite these being so different from each other. The last story is the weakest part, while still good, isn't as interesting as the first two.
This is a nice 4.5 out of 5. Just a ton of fun. I can't wait to read more.

A terrible design? Check. Kicking out two of the outlaws to make this a solo Red hood story? Check. Lobdell still on? Check. This could only go bad, right?
Somehow this isn't terrible. Red Hood is now by himself out in the world trying to find his calling. After Bruce beat the living shit out of him for nearly killing penguin he decided to leave his friends and travel the world his own way. In doing so he goes back to being brutal as possible. This title basically becomes a Punisher title. He even sticks things up people's asses when he really gets pissed off. All of this happening while he's hunting down criminals, so basically like the original Red Hood title when it came out.
The thing is...it's pretty entertaining. If nothing else the pace is nice, going quick and brutal through most issues. I still actually like Jason's inner thoughts. I also enjoyed the fights, they were pretty great. Also, the ending leads up to something interesting. The dialogue doesn't always work "stick this up your butt" comes to mind. I also think some of the designs are horrible, like Red Hood. Oh, and Lobdell can NOT write Batman...at all.
Overall, it's good. Not as good as the outlaws but not the train-wreck I expected. A 3 out of 5.

This chapter didn't fully capture me. It's a lot of focus on Matty but he's dealing with mostly a military off base and it's kind of just okay. None of the character's really spoke to me or had anything interesting to say. The second half is Matty choosing what to do to get the upper-hand and the good graces of the "new" president. It also deals with Zee being on her own which is the best part of the book. Overall, this one was just decent. A 2.5-3 out of 5.
Predator Hunters is exactly what it says, get a group of people who faced off against predators before and send them on a rescue mission/kill predators.
While on this mission we have a bunch of stereotypical characters working together to take out the predators. Got the macho guy, got the cool dude, got the Spanish old kingpin boss, got the woman who survived and refuses to stop fighting. You've seen these all before, nothing new there. Then when they get to the Island to kill the Predator, a twist happens, and now who is being hunted?
Let's talk about the good. The art is freaking great. The fights, the brutal kills, the designs for the different predators are all great. I also enjoyed the pacing as it didn't get bogged down with dialogue too often. The characters? All meh. They basically just shit seen before but not all that interesting. Also, on top of that, the ending is kind of fucking dumb.
Overall, it's decent. A 2.5 out of 5 but I'll bump it to 3 for that art.

Holy Smokes Batman! Do you smell that? Is that...is that dog shit? Oh no, it's Nightwing "K"NIGHT terrors (Fuck you).
I though the last volume was awful, but this is REALLY bad. This might be...no...I take that back. THIS is the WORST Nightwing comic I ever read. Dick-- I mean RIC. Oh yeah guys, didn't you hear? Dick is now Ric because...well I don't really know. Oh no, not Rick. That be semi-fucking-normal. But Ric. Just Ric. I don't even know anyone named fucking Ric. Anyway Ric has lost his memories after getting shot in the head and now he's trying to rediscover himself. But not his old self, as he stated, but his new cab-driving self.
This has to be one of the dumbest stories I've ever read. The idea isn't even horrible. After suffering a head injury to have Dick build himself back up could be inspiration and well told if done right. Except they handed it to Scott Lobdell...
The way Dick...I mean RIC acts is so off the charts weird that it makes no sense even with getting injured. On top of that he decides he wants to be a cab driver and that is the life...to be a driver...after years of training and being a hero he becomes...this. Then got a awful subplot with cops deciding to wear Nightwing's old costumes and become like a Nightwing fighting force...I shit you not. No. This isn't a joke. No, it's not some bad fan-fiction. This is really happening.
A big Fuck you out of 5.

Whohoo guys another retelling of Superman!
And by Frank Miller...old Frank Miller...so...oh no?
This actually isn't bad. We open up with the destruction of Krypton. New twist? Clark remembers it all. He sees the events of his father and his mother saying goodbye and getting him to safety before their deaths. Once on earth he slowly grows up in a small town learning to be a good person. He deals with bullying, racism, sexism, and violence including a attempted gang rape.
So let's get the controversy out of the way. There's a scene in which Lana Lang is nearly raped by a few high school bullies. These same bullies are pieces of shit who have beaten up kids simply for being "nerdy" or "colored" so we know they are pieces of shit. However, Lana is attempting to report them to the police and have proof and when the boys find out they try to shut her up for good. This is a Black Label title. Meaning DC gives more freedom for cursing, violence, sexual content and so on. Frank Miller is no stranger to rape in his story as a plot device and he put it in here. I'm not a huge fan of this scene (I mean no one should be of rape) but it didn't upset me as much as other scenes of rape in his other work or other comics I read. I think it could have ended without the scene of them grabbing her legs and maybe just with the threat was enough but still...
Getting back to the story itself. I thought it was solid enough. It's a very slow burn and gives a deep look into the background of Clark and what shaped him to be who he is. It goes from childhood up to late teen and him heading into the Military. I really loved the art here, and Romita can be a huge miss, but he does his thing here. I also thought the ending leaves from some interesting ideas.
Saying that, there were things I didn't love. The rape scene felt forced and kind of unneeded and this is from someone who usually doesn't shy away from violence in a movie/book/comic if it is important. Also, no MAJOR changes to the background. It felt a little safe at times.
Overall though I am interested to see what comes next. I didn't "LOVE" this title but I thought it was a good start. I think the next book/issue/volume or whatever you call it can be great. Seeing Clark go through the Military can be really interesting. This is a 3.5 but I'll raise it to a 4 just for the art alone. I dig this style a lot.

This was eh...okay?
There's moments that worked well. Some deaths I didn't see coming. The moments with Jean and Legion was pretty cool. I also think the fights are big and they look pretty good. On the flipside this is just one big fight with lots of set pieces and not much character development. Just everyone arguing without much meaning and the end...is weird as shit. Least it sets it up for a better future. But this? This is a 2 or 2.5 at highest.

Damn, this started so damn good and then...meh.
So this is the second part of Stark Resilient arc and it begins really good. Tony is not doing good. The villains are pushing him to the limit. Publicly he is becoming a joke and also his work on his new car (technology) isn't doing well. Then, when it comes to showing it off, the villains decide to step up and Hammer is gonna take what is theirs. This ends with a big chase, a little bit of robot on robot action, and maybe a new plotline for our Iron Man?
Overall, this started off pretty good. I liked the villains weren't just mindless bad guys and they both try their best to outsmart Tony. Also, the start of Tony losing it and getting frustrated at things is pretty damn interesting. The ending chase is long and boring and the final moments of the volume fail to build up something interesting.
This would be a 4 if it kept it's stride up but as is, can't give higher than a 3.

X-factor remains super fun and interesting.
Jamie is back from the dead. Whohoo! But coming back isn't without consequences. Right off the bat they blame Layla since she now can bring people back to death and Monet and others aren't too happy. On top of that Jamie now has to work with Havok to run the X-Factor. Last but not least we have the villains behind the scenes building towards something real bad.
I enjoyed almost all this. The dialogue is sharp and fun as always. I also enjoyed seeing the team back together and bickering. The villains are okay so far, probably weakest part of the volume. The extra issue is useless. Overall a 3.5 out of 5, but I'll bump it to a 4.

Goblin slayer continues to be what it always has been. Big brutal battles, some rapey goblins, and more death. This one has our famous Slayer get a little background and take down a HUGE Goblin King or whatever, or least damage him. The rest is building towards new monsters and then another cliffhanger ending. Overall, was decent fun quick read. A 3 out of 5.
