This is it! The reunion of Bucky and Cap we've been waiting for!
Cap and Sharon go stay in a quiet town, but it's not so quiet, as they are attacked right away. Crossbones and Sin have set a trap and the two fall right in to it. On top of that Bucky is on his own mission to take out the person who has been controlling him the whole time. While both stories seem to be far away from each other eventually they all collide and everyone is at each other's throat. By the end you get some over the top fighting as Cap and Bucky take down a giant Nazi Robot! What more can you ask for?
Brubaker continues his stellar work on building Captain America, Steve Rogers, into a true icon. Not only do we get a calmer, and few more jokes, Cap but we get some relationships building up in nice ways. Bucky is written well and you can feel both his pain and determination. The ending leaves some big moments up in the air.
I really enjoyed this volume, maybe even more than the last since it was more off the walls and fun. I really hope this run just stays this good. A 4 out of 5.

This was a interesting title since Captain America is only in 1 out of the 4 issues.
The first one with Sharon, and getting a deeper look into the character, and her love for Steve was interesting. It's a well told tale, and also the ending is building up to a big moment in Captain America's future. I also thought the Winter Solider one was pretty interesting. Get to see how much of a spy he is and a little bit more story on Nick. The Cap issue was kind of meh actually and not all that interesting. Finally, the Christmas Story with Winter Solider was great with a ending that hits hard.
I think what Brubaker does with Bucky is kind of amazing. Makes me really like this character which I usually don't. I think the way he structures this story to build towards the famous "Death of Captain America" storyline. Funny enough the weakest issue was Captain America issue. Overall, some good stuff, not amazing, but good. A 3.5 out of 5.

When Bendis jumped to DC he was able to start his own line "Jinx" which not sure if co-published by DC or just his own, but it was his own work getting published. I was actually pretty excited for this as I usually enjoy Bendis own work even more than big two sometimes. Cover was the first one I read and enjoyed it a lot, so I decided to pick up Pearl next.
It starts off simple enough. A girl name Pearl is an awesome tatto artist. However, her life gets mixed up with the Yakuza. When her life spirals out of control after a certain someone dies, she goes on the run. The first volume mixes a crime story with some drama about Pearl's past and how she became who she is.
This was pretty good. The art was fantastic most of the time and the vivid world was something special. I also liked Pearl and her relationship with the guy in here and her father was pretty great. Everything else though, the actual story, was a bit jarring in it's storytelling way. I also thought the pacing needed to be worked on.
Overall, good, but not great. I'll still check out volume 2 though, if for nothing else, the art is awesome.

Ah much better than last one.
This is Matty back in the center of conflict. I love having him there, even if I don't always agree with him, simply because his reactions work for story purposes. And here we have DMZ voting for their first, would be, president. High tensions are starting as Delgado might be the next leader but not everyone agrees with his ways. This leaves Matty's relationships with multiple people, family included, strained.
Overall, much better made and paced. Giving us plenty of meaty storyline and a lot of twist and turns. Some big questions you get to answer, and a political mystery I can get behind. I didn't love the reactions sometimes Matty had, too over the top, but the ending was strong and got me excited for the future again.

This was the first book I've read of Flash to make me like Wally (New52 Wally) but damn it, I did haha.
So Flash is still running around being Mr. Flashly Flash. Cheesy things like "That's A Flash Fact!" and all that. However the key plot point in here is training kid Flash (Wally New52) and getting him to learn about himself. Actually, I'd argue this is a bigger growth volume for Wally over Barry. We get to see New52 Wally meet Pre-52 Wally and kind of learn a bit more about how to be a sidekick. On top of that we get a adventure with Shade! Yeah, nobody cares about him but it brings some lessons and new powers for New52 Wally. last but not least we get a day where Barry is taking out Iris on a date and Wally handles the street side of things.
Good: I liked Wally! He's starting to really grow on me. I didn't like him at all in New52 run but here, him growing into his own unique character, is really nice. I still love Pre-new52 red head Wally the most (even more than Barry) but the character growth for Kid Flash is good. I also enjoyed that Barry and iris decided to try to work this relationship out (and my boy got laid! Woot woot)
Bad: The art is really inconstant. I also don't know if it's the same artist as volume 1, which I enjoyed, but this seems a bit more sloppy. I also didn't care for the middle storyline, the main one, because shade is kind of a boring character. Kind of felt slower paced and not good for a Flash story.
Overall not a horrible story but I liked volume 1 better. Kid Flash is growing on me but we can do a lot more with Barry. We must! However this is good for what it is. A 3 out of 5.

Flash continues it "solid" and "fun" run. I'll say right now this run is better than New52 for sure but it's not hitting the highs it did for volume 1.
Volume 1 to me remains the strongest. Art wise, story wise, villain (Godspeed <3) and more made it all worth really well. Volume 2 was cheesier but felt well done for Kid Flash. This volume has some great moments otherwise mixed with okayness.
So Barry decides to take on the rogues once more. You think they will outsmart the Flash! Well they almost do but this is the Flash people so come on. Also we have more about kid Flash. He wants to learn about his father. If you read Suicide Squad you know his father joined the team and like the name of the team did die protecting kids. It was actually a solid ending to a otherwise meh character but it leads into Wally figuring out who he is.
Good: The stuff with the rogues was fun if not a bit predictable. The stuff with kid flash was solid and I like the path the boy is going on. He's trying to figure out who he is and what he is and in doing so goes through ups and downs. I also like the direction for Barry and Iris for sure.
Bad: The art is starting to look a little funky. Especially the faces. Also while both storylines are fun they lack impact. I thought volume 1 had some impact that shaped up the run, this felt little too "every week episode on tv" type feel.
Overall this is fun volume that I suggest for Flash fans. If you've been enjoying this run this will continue that for you. If you're looking for something new this doesn't do that. A 3 out of 5.

Well...this was different than what I expected.
I've been wanting to sit down and finally read some Hellblazer. For years I heard good things. I've read other stuff with the mystical fighter in it but never his own series. So I decided to buy volume 1-5 of the Hellblazer series on sale. Is it good? Well...
This is broken into a few different stories. It all mostly revolves around John trying to come to terms of what and who he is. He's done some terrible things in his life and in this story we get a few glimpses of his past. It also talks about a story of a crazy religious cult, political issues, and a guy getting stuck into the world of the internet. Oh and there is a bit of demon play here but not too much.
Good: The art is solid enough. I like the atmosphere and feel, it gives a very British style. I also thought some of the stories were well told, really dark twist, and John is a complex character. Not the typical hero you would come to expect from the DC world.
Bad: It's very heavy, and at times feels more wordy than it needed to be. This is a major issue I have with wordy writers when they give so much writing and don't let the art do their job. This is a big example of that.
Overall this is a interesting first look. I won't lie, at times I was bored. At times I was really interested. It's a 50/50 go. Overall a 3 out of 5. I will keep going though as I hear it gets better and better.

Probably one of the best arcs for Buffy in awhile.
What happens when a dragon flys through a city and destroys it? Well, the world reacts of course. Putting all demons, magic users, and more into containment camps. Sound familiar, huh? And so with that Buffy tries her balance of protecting her friends inside the camps as well as trying to run the outside of it so no one gets hurts.
This is a interesting take on the world events and also pretty good pacing. Buffy feels more contained, not as stretched out, and the plotting way better. Some funny moments in a otherwise serious situations. This is what I've been wanting. A 4 out of 5.

Whoa, after a disastrous last volume I nearly just gave up on this series. I'm glad I didn't.
It took a bit but I think Fraction found his path. While most people love "Most Wanted" storyline, I think this is Tony at his most interesting. After the events of Civil War and Siege, the guy is broken. He's done some really fucked up shit if you don't know. On top of that, he can't remember most of them. The good and the bad. This is his chapter in his life where he's trying to do better but of course it isn't so simple.
What I really enjoyed here was a more Somber and insightful Tony. Not so many cracking jokes, being a asshole, and getting away with it. I really liked him dealing with what he had done but also still not changing his mind on certain subjects. I also really enjoyed the whole "media" angle and new villains being smarter than average "bad guy' and playing the long game seem well earned here. The art was funky at times, and some characters (thor) are drawn horrible.
Overall, this is what I wanted from a Iron Man comic. Actual character growth. A 3.5-4 out of 5.

Wow, this was not as bad as I expected.
I mean, don't get me wrong, other people beyond Gail can write birds of prey. But this is the first one I actually enjoyed. This is the story of the girls working together to stop bad guys. Simple enough but when the first mission goes wrong and someone dies. This leaves the team shattered some, Superman checking in on them, and new villains rising.
It's pretty fun story. if nothing else, I really liked Misfit here. I thought she acted like a Teenager and her powerset is cool. I enjoyed Huntress and Oracle here too, think Sean knew how to write them well. The rest of the team kind of forgettable here and of course the ending builds up but Sean leaves the run so...that's it. A 2.5 out of 5, but I'll bump it to a 3.
