DMZ finally picks up steam after two good, but not great volumes, I get one I really enjoy.

Matty goes deep undercover to try and find out more information about a terriost group. This chapter gets pretty dark as he has to let terrible things happen to learn more. Betrayal, sex used as a weapon, beatings, and more all occurs here and it's probably one of the more uncomfortable volumes but that was the purpose of it.

I actually enjoyed the plotting in this. Nothing over the top, and a little predictable, but somehow felt more reserved. Not as much cursing, or edgy, and I began to feel horrible for a lot of the characters. The ending hits a homerun with the feels and does a great job of showcasing freedom in a place like this.

Overall, very solid, and pushed it into the great area for me. A 4 out of 5.

Whoa, I dunno what I'm more shocked about. The fact I am LOVING a Wonder Woman series OR if I love a Azzarello book. Either way, I love both.

So Wonder Woman is still protecting Zola and her baby. At this point you'd think you would be bored of this type of storyline. However, The First is now tricked...or more, bought in to helping one of the gods against Wonder Woman and her crew. On top of that another god makes an attack to finish Zola and her baby off. What happens when the first come forward and decides to strike? Can Wonder Woman hold him off? Who is Orion and why is he so powerful? You find out a whole lot in this volume and you can't stop reading.

This intense, well plotted, solid dialogue, and great art really takes this series to a new place. While good at the start and building up, this volume takes the word EPIC and splashes it all over every page. From the fights, to the stakes, to the deaths, to the new hope. Everything is well crafted and done so well, I wanted more and more. This is a fantastic volume, one of the best wonder woman stories I've read, and I need more now.

A 5 out of 5.

This was pretty goddamn epic. This might be my favorite of the 3. Though I am confused as to what happens next as I know Michael Stacynski leaves suddenly so I guess the next volume might be a bit of a mess. Luckily, this volume does not suffer one bit.

Thor is exiled and trying his best to find Sif since she is still lost. His band of warriors is also trying to find Thor himself. While that's happening you have Loki plotting with none other than doctor fucking doom. While this is happening you have the new king being betrayed by his followers and you expect to hate him for exiling Thor but you really don't. All the moving pieces from the last volume all come to a head here in a awesome way.

Art is on point here as it really gives Thor that epic vibe. The art really gets to shine with the environments as we go from desert, to a icy area, and you get the atmosphere nailed in each scene. I love the pacing here as it feels like someone could die at any moment, and oh boy do they. The dialogue works real well and Michael nails so many characters.

Loki sudden change back to a man was a bit weird. Also, doom seems to be a bit of a fool in this one for working with him. But besides that great stuff. A 4 out of 5!

After two amazing volumes we leave off Hickman's run on a "good" note.

A lot of these stories are building up for the future. One big one is Wakanda visit from Reed and family and Black Panther becoming the king of the dead. This becomes a big moment for the New Avengers run later for Hickman. The other stories wage from saving a loved one to fighting doom, to learning a alternate reality that went really bad, and more. It's a big volume with tons of stuff to chew on.

While there's a lot of content, none of it is amazing for me. Some great moments here and there but mostly single one shots that are building future plot points more than telling a complete story. I enjoyed the art and dialogue but nothing blew me away. A 3 out of 5.

The storylines begin to build once more in this volume as everyone gets set in place.

While Wonder Woman is trying to find her place and calling, you have The First Born getting tortured by Apollo, and everyone else moving their motives forward. This is one big fast paced race to whoever can get to power first. However, the crazed Kratos like god is not having it and the first born goes fucking berserk. Will Wonder Woman step up?

This is a great volume. It feels a little undivided in attention to certain characters since they're moving so many pieces. However, it remains highly entertaining and I can't wait to see the final chapter next. A 4 out of 5.

I read this a few years ago and really enjoyed it. Reading it now, guess what? Same views.

I grew up with Ninja Turtles so they hold a special place in my heard. When Eastman said he was coming back to write I got excited. Fresh new art and new storylines? Sign me up.

This is basically a new universe for the turtles. A updated version for the fans of the 80's comic. It's violent in ways, but not overly done, and it still has the staples you love about the original. A lot of the character's personalities stay intact and the storyline moves at a nice pace. The dialogue is strong, and having characters like Ralph and Cassy meet so soon and become bros is nice. The twist of the turtles not first growing up together is interesting too.

The art is solid but little fishy at times. Biggest issue is all the characters wear the same color headband. Overall though I had a blast. A easy 4 out of 5 for a turtle fan.

Another solid chapter in a good-great season.

This one mostly focuses on Buffy still trying to deal with relationships, this time with her friend and willow and also her sister moving on with her life. Still, it all comes down to protecting the portals and making sure the baddies don't get through. However, when they have to make a huge discussion and someone, or multiple people, have to stay behind in hell, choices will be a lot less funny and more serious.

Overall, it moves at a nice pace, the dialogue is solid, the art is good, everything works. It's not mind-blowing, no huge twist, and nothing earth-shattering but not every volume needs to be. A 3.5 out of 5.

Moving closer and closer to the mystery. This issue really focuses on Wally talking about his past a bit and what happened. This also gives a lot of attention to Blue Beetle and Batgirl watching their friends fight. I found that portion pretty boring if I'm being honest but the ending was nice. Also the return of a character was pretty whoas. A 3 out of 5.

The big reveal is going to leave a lot of people divided.

So we find out who the killer was, the motive, and how it all happened. With that happening it also leads to some major moments in the end. I think the reasoning actually makes sense. The exploring of loss and loneliness actually makes sense. The execution there worked well for me, though that may vary with the reader. I also liked the art again because it is amazing. The twist of how to alter things or change things seems a little cheap though.

Overall a heavy chapter that will divide fans. I personally enjoyed it though. A 3.5 out of 5.

I believe in the end King's run on Batman will be my favorite of all time.

So this is a 3 issue main plot arc to continue after cold days. This is the Penguin coming out of prison and making a deal with Batman. Telling the Knight about Bane's plans to destroy him and take over Gotham. Batman is cracking, or I should say Bruce, and after almost losing his adopted son he can't contain it anymore. Going after not only bane but every single villain to try and get some goddamn answers to what Bane is planning. Sadly, things aren't going to be that easy.

The other two issues in here are secret files and annual. One written by a few writers, annual written by Tom Taylor (Another great writer!) So what works and what doesn't?

Good: Finally a story I like the Penguin. I actually felt sad for him for once. Then we have an amazing twist at the end that is going to build some great future moments. Bruce dealing with everything and breaking is interesting and for once I like Bruce. I also think the annual is touching and very well done, and gives a lot of heart to both Bruce and Alfred.

Bad: The secret files, except for King's very short one, is just okay. Nothing really worth reading.

Overall, great shit. Not as powerful or nail-biting as volume 8, but it's still damn good. Keep going King, you are killing it! 4 out of 5.
