I just couldn't get into this at all. The stories are well written but the coloring on these stories is all washy. I can't really get behind the style for the art. Garth Ennis really does write his heart out, and it shows, the research, and the maturity of these stories compared to a lot of his other stories. However, I didn't really connect to any stories. It may be because Military stories usually don't do much for me. So I believe this isn't bad at all, just not for me. A 2.5 out of 5 for me. But I think most people would either enjoy it or love it, especially if like Military stuff.

Daredevil returns under the new writer Chip Zdarsky! I've enjoyed his Spider-man and Fantastic Four Johnny and The Thing spin off. So figured I'd give this bad boy a try. I usually wait for a whole volume but figured I'd grab issue 1 at the local comic shop to try out. I'm so glad I did!

So I still have to finish Soule's run so I'm little confused on what's happening with the start but it has Matt deciding to put the costume back on. After the last events, it left him nearly dead it seems. So after dressing back up and becoming the devil in hell's kitchen once more he begins to jump around the city to let people know he's back. While doing that we get some past events of him at the church as a kid and then when he first put on his costume. The final moments lead to something very interesting as Daredevil might have crossed the line without knowing.

Good: The art is great. I get a real nice vibe of Brubaker's run or Bendis in the art department, so big plus there. The story and pacing work real well. My biggest worry was Chip nailing Matt's voice but he does it pretty flawlessly. Just like Bendis, Brubaker, Waid, Soule, Chip comes with the voice of Matt we all love. On top of that the pushing factor of the ending is great and makes the next issue a hard wait.

Bad: The only negative I can really think of is the flashback of him as a kid. I guess I'm just so used to seeing it on the TV show it gets a little old.

Overall, a fantastic opening to a new run. This will be hard to wait for the next trade but I shall. A easy 4.5 out of 5.

A really strong first half sadly shifted to a okay second half due to event.

So what's it about now that we're in the 7th volume of birds of prey? Is it still fun? Well yeah, duh, it's written by Gail Simone. So we have the birds all working together once more to take down the mob. Yes...the fucking MOB. Even Batman gets involved and he isn't too happy. We also have Gordan find out the big secret of who Barbara really is. Next up is the one year time skip which leaves Black Canary and Shiva exchanging lives and trying to be each other's style of life for awhile while protecting a certain doctor's daughter from getting abducted by one of the most vicious villains out there.

Good: First half really is fun. The feel of family with the team is special that don't get in other titles. The art is a nice improvement here. Not so many ass shots, a bit more cartoony, yet the action stays super high end and fun. Also the year time skip isn't all bad, I like the switch between Shiva and Black Canary a lot.

Bad: But the pacing of the 2nd half feels off. As if we just got back together the team in the first half and now they are kind of broken up here. Also, the dialogue abundance at times in fights still is a bit much.

Overall, another great collection. Sure, still too much dialogue at times and the shift of the 2nd half is a bit much, but it remains fun and entertaining throughout. A 3.5 out of 5.

What happens in Vegas stays in Vegas. Am I right?

Okay now that you read my annoying headline, how is X-Factor in it's 11th freaking volume. This is about the half way mark and I'm VERY happy to say it's still fucking great. Like really, I am just having so much fun reading this series.

So Jamie is alot more competent as a team leader now. He decides it's time to take some cases and when Hela, dressed up as someone else, comes in asking for help he gladly accepts. They need money after all. When he sees this mission isn't...what it seems, everything gets a lot more epic and even Thor shows up to help. On top of that we have a ton of relationship stories rolling out and most of them stay interesting. A return character, Renee, comes back into the fold with a little surprise. Everything seems to be happening all at once and Peter David easily does multiple, interesting, storylines.

Good: The relationships, and there's a lot, are all interesting and well done. Dealing with Homosexuality, pregnancy, and much more, the series is NEVER boring. The Thor coming to talk to the X-Factor and help is just great. The art stays consistently good now and the fights and such look fantastic. The ending is building up to something really screwed up if my guess is correct.

Bad: Layla seems like the odd duck out now. With her powers being still fun but her being there feels almost out of place in a way but maybe just getting used to her being back.

Overall, loved it. X-Factor is like everything I want in a show/comic. Fun characters, fun storylines, and you can both laugh and cry in the same issue. A 4.5 out of 5.

A dark and twisted tale with some really fucked up imagery and haunting story to go with it.

So it's not every day you read about kids turning to a cult leader to face off against the Cartel but here we are. Let's back up a minute and talk about our main character here. Conrad is the center piece of the story. He was one of the great DEA agents ever but somehow lost himself in Mexico and became a cult leader. His daughter decides to go there and try to change his mind...or stop him.

Good: The pacing is pretty solid. It goes quick and in very dark directions that turn situations into hard to view. Killing people is already tough to watch but when kids begin to murder, or get murdered, it becomes even tougher. However, it's not really done for shock or anything as Justin, the writer, clearly state the mind-frame of these characters. I also enjoyed the twist on cult leading and the mixture of horror in a police-like story.

Bad: The art didn't do much for me. It felt out of place at times in this dark moody storytelling. I also couldn't get past the eyes, something about the characters eyes made me question the stylistic choice on this storyline. The ending also is abrupt and a little bit more of a fleshed out story would have helped.

Overall, a dark and moody story with some really interesting ideas. Didn't blow me away but I did enjoy it for the message and story it was shooting for. A 3 out of 5.

Damn sure when Peter J. Tomasi enters a title I get fucking excited because man oh man, he brings it almost always.

So Kyle is back after the events of Sinestro War. He's trying to get back to his regular life as a Green lantern. Guy and Him decided to leave earth and live within the OA. In doing so they will be on a lot more space adventures while John and Hal stay on earth. In doing so we get Mongul going around the universe collecting all the yellow rings to use as a power source to...well rule the world because he is insane. So now we get multiple green lantern characters, with the two main focuses being Guy and Kyle.

Good: Loved the hell out of Kyle and Guy's character development. David did a good job last run making me like Guy but Peter gives me a reason to really embrace the character while keeping true to his obnoxious ways at times. Kyle easily fits into the partner role for Guy to make two very interesting main characters. The art is great, and the universe and fights never looked so good. Oh, and how awesome was it to see the Lanterns go all "FUCK OFF" and blow a villains head right off? Yeah. This is the Green Lanterns I've been waiting for.

Bad: Sometimes I got confused who was who again for the Lanterns. There's so many, and some get so little screen time, that when something horrible happens I just go "Who was that again?"

Overall, great stuff. Very fast paced, fun, and a lot of heart. The fights are bigger, bloodier, and more badass than before. I hope Tomasi run stays this good! 4 out of 5.

Birds of Prey heats up as Black Canary and Huntress with the help of others face off against their biggest threat yet!

So poor black Alice is trying to be used once more, but this time by bad guys. We knew this was going to happen so Black Canary tries her best to convince her she's a good person. We also deal with Black Canary trying to be a mother figure to Sin. Misfit shows up as the new Batgirl! Last but not least we have a member leave and a few new ones enter. The biggest, and most badass one, is Big Barda. How well does this crazy collection work?

Good: The art stays pretty solid throughout. I liked the pacing, really never boring on this one. The Big exist for one of the team members is both touching and very well done. The new team is pretty interesting, especially including Big Barda. Probably the most entertaining addition as well as good chemistry with the team.

Bad: The second half takes a bit to get used to. What used to be a three woman team grows almost double the size so it doesn't gel right away.

Overall, a very solid and fun addition to the series. While Birds of Prey never blew me away it always remained good to great. I'm excited for this new team. A 4 out of 5.

Whoa, something Morrison wrote that I can follow without wondering what drug he was on.

Animal Man is one of Morrison's oldest work but most beloveded as well. What he did for Buddy, creating him into a interesting character, and giving him real family drama, is all very respectable. However, was it good? We have the main 4 part arc at the start that introduces Buddy as animal man into the world but also getting a villain to go along with it. The next few issues are either a two part series or one shots. Ranging from alien invasion to chilling with Martian Manhunter in the desert. You never know where this series will take you.

Good: The comedy. Morrison nails the humor in this series, with a few chuckles every few pages as well as some laugh out loud moments. I also thought the family drama, though a bit dated in dialogue, works really well here and feels like a actual family. The idea of animal and his powers is always awesome and him trying his best is really respectable and interesting.

Bad: The art is dated, and more so the fight scenes look pretty awful. I also feel the collection is a bit confusing, especially with the invasion storyline there.

Overall, I was super surprised by this. I don't know if I'd say it's one of the best comics ever like some are but I was pretty happy with 80% of it. So for that it gets a 3.5-4 out of 5.

Not horrible but not memorable at all. Basically, it reminds me of Exhile. A bunch of what if characters go into a bunch of what if stories, while also dealing with stopping the evil "Xaviers" and meeting other versions of each team member. Silly and over the top, nothing really worth mentioning but nothing flat out bad. A 2.5 out of 5.

Updated Review: So I still agree with a lot of what I thought before. It's a interesting enough idea but just not fully realized. I think my major issue is not getting connected to any of the main characters and so it's hard to hear. This volume still good, it's moving at a decent pace, but nothing is really grabbing me and making me go "MUST BUY". So My 3 out of 5 remains.

Old Review: There's parts of this volume that are exciting (Especially final issue) but the rest is just eh, not all that entertaining. I find myself skimming through a large portion of dialog because it's either repetitive or holds little importance to the overall plot.
