A dark and twisted tale with some really fucked up imagery and haunting story to go with it.

So it's not every day you read about kids turning to a cult leader to face off against the Cartel but here we are. Let's back up a minute and talk about our main character here. Conrad is the center piece of the story. He was one of the great DEA agents ever but somehow lost himself in Mexico and became a cult leader. His daughter decides to go there and try to change his mind...or stop him.

Good: The pacing is pretty solid. It goes quick and in very dark directions that turn situations into hard to view. Killing people is already tough to watch but when kids begin to murder, or get murdered, it becomes even tougher. However, it's not really done for shock or anything as Justin, the writer, clearly state the mind-frame of these characters. I also enjoyed the twist on cult leading and the mixture of horror in a police-like story.

Bad: The art didn't do much for me. It felt out of place at times in this dark moody storytelling. I also couldn't get past the eyes, something about the characters eyes made me question the stylistic choice on this storyline. The ending also is abrupt and a little bit more of a fleshed out story would have helped.

Overall, a dark and moody story with some really interesting ideas. Didn't blow me away but I did enjoy it for the message and story it was shooting for. A 3 out of 5.
