Whoa! Talk about knocking it out of the park. I was pretty excited to check this one out after my friend kept telling me about it but I was so blown away when I finished this one. You guys want a great horror comic? Look no further!

So what is Sink? Well, it's 5 different issues that all have their own tale to tell. It's actually pretty great because they somewhat connect in different ways, all leading back to Glasgow, but very different stories as they go. The first story introduces you to the mean streets but also Mr. Dig, the mascot of the series. You might notice him since he has a big Fox head, which is just magical by the way. Then the next story is about a cleaner who takes care of dead bodies with a super interesting twist by the end. Issue 3 focuses on a Trans character heading back into her old life but will it work out in her favor? Issue 4 deals with 4 kids wanting to get revenge for their missing friends and beating the shit out of the "Clowns" who basically psychos running around hurting and killing people. Last issue is about a girl losing her dog but then decides to go the Kingpin and...well some interesting things happen.

Good: Holy smokes issue 4. I can't say enough good things about it. I loved this issue so much it might go down as my favorite single issue of the year. It's epic, it's chilling, it gets you scared, yet it makes you cheer at times. It also begins to connect the dots to other characters. Issue 2 is also amazing in a depressing way. The ending is tragic but in a surprise way. I really enjoyed the remaining 3 issues as they all go for brutal horror to more tension filled horror. It balances it really well. To top this all off the art is wonderful and it gives the series dark/gritty feel it needs.

Bad: Honestly nothing.

This is easily one of my favorite comics of the year. John Lee has a knack for creating believable characters that you get attached to very quickly yet still give you chills and dark moments throughout. Sink is one you should be checking out! A 5 out of 5.

Batman Arkham reborn is all about building Arkham Asylum back up after it exploded.

Silly huh? I think so. Most of the characters in the story are on the same page. Why rebuild something that never works. But Dr. Jeremiah Arkham is on a mission to fix things. At the start it actually is working. Most of the villains that scare us are starting to show a better side to themselves after treatments. However, the further it goes we have someone manipulating the system and destroying the Asylum from within. Who will stop it?

Good: I thought the start was pretty solid. A interesting idea even if you knew it wasn't going to work. I also thought the moments with the inmates trying to do better was cool to see.

Bad: The big bad reveal was so obvious it hurt. The characters, especially Jeremiah, were to on the nose. The "evil" was too obvious. The planning was silly and the destruction of the place from within was easy to see even Batman seemed to roll his eyes.

Overall just a meh story. It's not horrible, and it's pretty different from the normal Batman story, but I know David Hine can do better. A 2.5 out of 5.

Anytime I see Cates name on a title I get super excited. However, after reading Death of Inhumans last, I lowered my expectations. Luckily with Venom, both Cates and Stegman are on top of their game with an exciting first entry into the world of Venom.

Venom has been back with Eddie for awhile now. After the events of Space Knight Venom the symbiote fused back with Eddie and left Flash Thompson. We had a pretty atrocious run with Eddie and Venom for the two years and so I was hoping Donny could fix up this character for how popular he is. Well, Eddie is having a hard time dealing with venom as of late. He's breaking down, having nightmares. Who knew that was possible? Then Venom goes out of control more than usual and nearly kills someone.

Rex finds Venom, a old vet who has once had a symbiote just like venom back in the war days. He explains to Eddie that he has to rescue his friends who also had symbiotes just like them. So when Venom goes to free them a creature, the creator of these symbiotes, is instead unleashed. Welcome a HUGE venom like dragon, Miles, and more!

Good: I love the art. Ryan Stegman has to be top 10 artist for me right now. His big action set pieces, his emotion on people's faces, his backgrounds. Everything is always so good (plus he's super nice dude! Met him at comic con). Donny really has fun here with the big epic storyline for Venom. The threat feels very real, and very big, and that's refreshing. The relationship is fun, yet sad, and it feels like there's a ton of history without having to read other venom stories. I also really dug the miles and venom fighting and teaming up. All really well done.

Bad: I felt sometimes the pacing was a little frantic. Things went to quick and to crazy, and not much time to absorb. Also, as much as I love the art a lot of the time, when it was raining too much it was hard to tell what was happening.

So Venom actually has a great series again. Sure, it took a few years but we're back. This is my favorite Venom since Rick's Venom run. I'm hoping it stays this good for awhile. A 4 out of 5.

This is kind of a arc I've been waiting for. Soule is a actual lawyer in real life so it was nice to see a whole arc revolving around Matt Murdock taking on the court system.

Matt is doing something he's been wanting to do forever. Have it that a superhero, still fully masked, go to court and testify. This changes everything. One, the superheros won't lose their secret identity. Two, this will help so many cases and villains get locked up for good. So we see Matt do his best, as daredevil, to win this case. Then the last three issues here focus on Blindspot. What happened to him and why he left the scene.

Good: Really enjoyed all the court stuff. I always felt we needed more of that in a Daredevil comic. I also enjoyed the heck out of blindspot story. Sure, a little cliche, but really fun anyway and we get Daredevil's sidekick back. The ending was great too.

Bad: The villains here seemed a bit undercooked and not who they usually are.

Overall a really fun arc with some big moments for Matt himself. A 4 out of 5.

Well I called that ending a million miles away.

So this is the story of Olivia, who used to be a child star, become a adult TV star, and then gets fired. However, 15 years ago she had her youngest sister gone missing. Have never found her she had a strong urge to take a case to find out what happened to all the girls who have gone missing on the "Dark Road". Doing that though may lead to places, and people, she never wanted to know or see.

Good: The Olivia character is pretty interesting. Her self doubt but strong will to find the truth is interesting. Her past is both horrifying and a bit odd (get to that later). I thought the pacing was solid, with very little filler, or any boring parts. The dialogue was also pretty strong, never feeling too forced.

Bad: That ending. It's so obvious around 1/3rd of the way there but it's the open ending part that is annoying. I don't mind a good mystery, I do mind a mystery without ANY closure, no matter the statement. I also thought most of the side characters were just okay, or boring.

Overall, a fun, neat, somewhat dirty, murder mystery. It's worth checking out if like the genre, but it's nothing mindblowing. A 3 out of 5.

Harrow County continues it's dark and moody adventure but this time we take a little side step into smaller, self contained stories.

This is where we learn of the evil that might be plotting against our hero witch. It actually centers on Skinless Boy running around while the mysterious man tries to either trick him or force him to turn. Then we have another story about the Snake Lady! It's almost fairy tale like and the ending gives a character more meaning. The last issue really focuses on Emmy going to a house to see if she can help a family but when it all turns against her we get a little clue on where the next arc might go!

Good: The skinless boy might not talk much but just him following around the new big evil is pretty great. I also enjoyed the Snake Lady tale which leads to some interesting moments and a little bit more background of why everyone hates witches.

Bad: The art isn't the same throughout and sometimes it looks pretty poor in comparison to the regular art. I also thought the last issue was just okay and while the ending was neat it didn't blow me away.

Overall a solid, good volume but the weakest so far. A 3.5 out of 5.

All-New Wolverine is hands down the best wolverine series I've read (Not that I read THAT much wolverine but damn this is good).

So a little alien girl crash lands on earth. Right when Ironheart finds her the virus inside her spreads, and everyone around her begins to get sick. Right before she dies she has the name of Laura on her lips, and Wolverine is scooped up to try and find out what happened. When she gets to the infected island she realizes the situation may be worse than she thought. When the greatest minds around the world figure out how to fix it, will it be in enough time? Oh yeah, that's just the first half. Second half is into space with the guardians of the galaxy!

Good: The character development for Laura is outstanding. Especially from reading her X-Force stories and X-men stories, it's wonderful to see her grow into her own person. I also love the side cast, especially Gabby. The first half of the story feels like actual stakes are there and the solution is actually pretty great and touching moment. I loved the hell out of the guardians and wolverine reaction and Gabby and Johnathan the Wolverine joining the story in space is wonderful.

Bad: I didn't love the art at times. Made people look really odd. I also thought the 2nd half of the story in space was really fun but also really rushed. Another issue probably balance that.

Again, All-New Wolverine proves to be a fantastic series. It's no wonder it went over 30+ issues. To me, Laura is the best Wolverine ever. A 4 out of 5.

Daredevil and Kingpin are at it again.

You'd think by now I'd be tired of Matt and Fisk going to war, but I never am. It's because they play off each other so well. So the big twist of the last volume was Wilson Fisk became the Mayor of New York. Because no one with a criminal background who focuses on hate to run their campaign could EVER become someone of importance (wink wink).

Anyhow, Daredevil won't have it. He is arrested by Wilson Fisk and when Daredevil escapes the whole city is after him. Then, Daredevil decides to strike back in a new way. At the same way Muse escapes from his prison but this time Blindspot decides to take him on.

Good: The pacing is a rush. Way quicker than the last volume (Which I enjoyed) this is a lot more action packed. Daredevil on the run, Blindspot verses Muse, and all the street level heroes teaming up. This is a big volume for who can take down who. I also thought the art was a step up and the fights looked great.

Bad: It ends on a interesting but "I saw that coming" note.

Overall, another really strong volume for Daredevil. While Soule hasn't written my favorite run I still think it's on par with Waid's run. A 4 out of 5.

This wasn't as good as the previous three volumes but still a lot of fun!

So Laura goes on a rescue mission after Draken, the son of wolverine, and basically her brother, goes missing. Instead of finding him she finds her mother. What's that? Draken breaks free of the Orphans of X, a evil community hellbent on killing all the wolverines for the murders they committed. When he comes into the picture and meets up with Laura and Gabby shit goes down, people get killed, and then the war between the Wolverines and the Orphans of X is on.

Good: I like the banter between Laura, Gabby, and Draken. The mystery of the Orphans of X and hell, even their meaning and why they do what they do, made sense. The feel of loss and change here works well, especially for Laura, who continues to grow in interesting ways.

Bad: I thought the ending kind of lacked the punch it was going for. A little to heavy handed even for me. I also thought the lack of stakes didn't feel real. Even when characters die you know they'll be fine.

Overall a fun, solid volume, but didn't have any huge moments I loved. A 3 out of 5.

I'm on a Marvel Reading kick for 2018 before I create my top 10 list of the year! So I decided to switch from Tom Taylor's All-new Wolverine to his X-Men Red series!

So Jean is back. Trust me, I was the last person who cared or wanted that. I've never been a huge fan of her but she is now back. This time though, instead of being all Phoenix and destroy the world, she's here to save it. She wants to fix all the hatred around the world, all the racism, and live in peace. A pretty hefty task but with her and other X-Men joining her like Namor, Laura, Gabby, Nightcrawler, and more, things might be looking up for the X-Men for once.

Good: The return of one of the most vicious villains the X-Men have ever known is a good idea. She's scary and what she does here is brutal. I also enjoy this take on Jean. Far kinder than ever before, and also powerful as heck, this is the Jean I was hoping would return. I love Nightcrawler as the heart of the team, plus his jokes are win. Gabby and Laura are perfect additions to the team here.

Bad: The actual story is a little heavy handed in political nature. I don't mind a good political story but it feels a little "in your face" style going on here. I also thought the pacing was a bit sluggish at times.

Overall, a very solid start for the new team. I'm hoping the next volume will flush out the cast, give us more reason to care about the new guys. I enjoy seeing Jean get some good character development as well as Nightcrawler and Laura/Gabby but want the whole team to get that. Still, a 3.5 out of 5, I'll bump it to a 4.
