Watch the Girls
by Jennifer Wolfe
Well I called that ending a million miles away.
So this is the story of Olivia, who used to be a child star, become a adult TV star, and then gets fired. However, 15 years ago she had her youngest sister gone missing. Have never found her she had a strong urge to take a case to find out what happened to all the girls who have gone missing on the "Dark Road". Doing that though may lead to places, and people, she never wanted to know or see.
Good: The Olivia character is pretty interesting. Her self doubt but strong will to find the truth is interesting. Her past is both horrifying and a bit odd (get to that later). I thought the pacing was solid, with very little filler, or any boring parts. The dialogue was also pretty strong, never feeling too forced.
Bad: That ending. It's so obvious around 1/3rd of the way there but it's the open ending part that is annoying. I don't mind a good mystery, I do mind a mystery without ANY closure, no matter the statement. I also thought most of the side characters were just okay, or boring.
Overall, a fun, neat, somewhat dirty, murder mystery. It's worth checking out if like the genre, but it's nothing mindblowing. A 3 out of 5.
