So this is John Wick with a Black Female lead. I'm very very very much okay with that.

So what's it about? Silencer (Honor) is wanting to live a normal life. She's got a kid, a husband, living in a nice house, just relaxing. It is the way most people want to live their life. However, that shit is going to stay that way. Killers begin to come after her, and when Leviathan comes into play shit gets more intense. So basically a bunch of killers hunting down Honor. Which is basically John Wick. Which is super fun. So...yeah!

Good: The action is pretty brutal and fucked up. People get murdered in messed up ways for sure. Silencer is a pretty interesting character and her powers are cool. The art ranges from great to okay. But when it's great (mostly action scenes) it's good. Also enjoyed the family Dynamic.

Bad: Some of the storyline is messy and feels like a sequel in ways but it's not...you just need to know Leviathan background as a organization. I also thought the art sometimes was pretty meh.

This was pretty fun. I'd probably put it at a 3.5. Enjoyable entry for the "New Age Heroes" for DC.

So probably the biggest "event' in terms of controversy. Captain America is part of Hydra! Is this the real cap? It this a lie? Who is who? The end of our heroes is here? Well no, this is a event, of course it'll all go back to normal with some new storylines for a few months.

So Hydra Cap has made the ultimate plan. The strongest heroes are stuck outside of earth thanks to a shield built by the greatest minds. So now that Cap Marvel, Guardians, and more are trapped there, the street level heroes are taken into a black hole of some sort so goodbye defenders, strange, and more. It leaves a few characters like the Champions, tony, hawkeye, black widow, and a few more. Hydra cap slowly takes over the world with the message of Hydra, and people are like "oh okay" because, well, look who our president is. Not hard to believe. And then...well you know what happens. The heroes come to save the day!

Good: I liked the start of it. The slow build up to how Cap took over the united states was great because it's pretty believable. The ending is also great, there's a moment to that's badass as fuck. I thought some of the moments, mostly with Antman, and Ultron, was great.

Bad: A lot of characters feel like afterthoughts. Mostly all the defenders or street level heroes. I also thought the middle dragged, and two issues left would have done wonders for the pacing. The art too can be hard and smudgy to tell what's happening.

Overall this was decent. There's some great parts, some bad parts, some okay parts. Overall it's a decent event. I think it could have been better but far from the worst I read. A 3 out of 5.

Divinity 2 is a direct follow-up to the first one. This time though we have a woman with the crazy powers of pretty much ultimate power. SO in other-words she can pretty much be a god of sorts, but luckily we have a god on our side now.

In the last volume we were introduced to three soviet soldiers who went into space and never came back. Well, we thought they died. However, one came back. Abram came back to earth and the Unity (avengers/justice league of this universe) went to meet him. While almost dying they were able to convince him to go into a cell and stay there to keep him from doing any harm to the world. Myshka is now here and she was the other solider who went with Abram into space and now is back to fix everything. Tus begins the fight for humanity with Myshka verse Abram.

Good: The art is great. Especially when showing different realities and going back and forth between time. I loved the hell out of the dialog between Myshka and Abram. Both upset, both making good points, both trying to do what THEY see is right. The build up story for Myshka was better flushed out this time and you can see her point of view.

Bad: The ending wrapped up to soon like the last volume. I was just getting into it.

Overall this might be a little rushed like the first but I actually felt for the characters and got to see their powers unfold. This was great stuff overall. A 4 out of 5.

Whoa, I had to triple check this was written by Lemire.

This volume is horrendous. Easily the worst of the series. While I ALWAYS felt this series lacked something it never became as glaring as it did with this volume. This was goofy as shit but in all the wrong ways. We had Logan team up with some monster squad, which was dumb, and it just flat storytelling. Then another story where he goes back to the wastelands, but not really, and he's really in space and...yeah you know what. Sounds dumb right? It is.

Good: The art?

Bad: The rest.

This is just a TERRIBLE volume that can skip because it's ALL filler TBH. This is a 0 out of 5.

For some reason whenever a marvel title has "Old Man" in it, just never seems to impress me ALL that much.

So most people now know what Old Man Logan is. Even if you haven't read it but you probably heard people compare it to Logan the movie. It's a reality where the villains win and all that's left living is a few heroes such as Logan in a post-villain world. This takes place 5 years prior to Old Man Logan and we follow our favorite Archer of all time. I Believe this is supposed to be a 12 issue mini-arc. This starts off with Hawkeye on a mission to hunt down and kill all the tunderbolts since they seem to be part of the reason for the death of a lot of heroes. With heroes showing up like Kate (hawkeye 2) and Logan, while villains like Bullseye and Venom take up most of the pages, we have a hunting game going on.

Good: The fights are entertaining enough. Something about a man jumping around shooting arrows is always fun. The bitter moments where they show Clint see the past is hard to watch. The moments with Kate and Logan are also solid. Also, Bullseye is still a asshole and that's wonderful.

Bad: It feels like it has less stakes. We know what will happen, or guess it, because we read old man logan. I also didn't find Red Skull to be the best "behind the screens" big bad. He felt kind of lame in here.

Overall this is fine. It's entertaining enough but it didn't blow me away. The fact that it has old man in the title fits with all my other ratings. A 3 out of 5.

Almost done with the Swamp Thing New52 series! After having a great last volume how does this one fare? Well...

Swamp Thing has brought some friends with him into the real world. In doing so he doesn't really know how to control them or if he should. These three, once avatar, people now must live a human life. On top of that the Sureen come into play. Who's that? Well they are the cult/religious following of the Green. Then we have a new group beyond the green, rot, and red called the Fungus...DUM DUM DUM! What will happen?

Good: Enjoyed Alec a lot still. He's really funny and charming in this Swamp Thing series. I also really enjoyed the art, the fight scenes, and all the stuff. I did like the Fungus stuff and the new ideas they were playing with there.

Bad: The two "bad guys" here are so meh I can't help but laugh. Like why trust them? Obviously these motherfuckers going to betray you. I didn't like the ending much either. I can start to see why this ends soon.

Overall I love Swamp Thing as a character but this volume is pretty uneven. Some good parts but nothing amazing.

I can't believe I'm reviewing a Mighty morphin Power motherfucking Rangers comic but here we are.

After the movie that came out last year (I think) it seems like Power Rangers is back in the spotlight. Here, Kyle Higgins (Writer for Nightwing) comes in and gives us the heroes we all grew up with (or least I did) and kind of a modern day retelling with the same cheese and everything.

The green ranger, Tommy, is having terrible visions. On top of that Rita, the evil bitch, is here to really stir up some troubles. So got some Megazoid action set pieces, some high school love drama, and a bunch of power rangers whooping butt.

Good: I had fun jumping back into the world of Power Rangers. I think the concept is pretty unique, the art is nice for sure here, and I thought Tommy dealing with his issues the way they did it was smart. Also, the ending leaves this series to go into something pretty freaking cool.

Bad: The dialog is cheesy. No one major is going to die. This isn't any "OH MY GOD" moments. And hey, that's power rangers. If didn't like them before they won't change your mind here.

Goofy, cheesy, but pretty dang fun. Power Rangers is something I'ma keep checking out. This solid good old fun 3 out of 5.

Brian Wood has been a writer I went from not really enjoying to loving most of his work. Then I heard about this, by the same team that did "Local" and I HAD to check it out.

So this is about four girls first year in college. However, it's mostly focused on just one girl, Riley, and her quest to break out into the real world. When she meets these four friends, they all work at the same place, and they KIND of become buddies but the real story is Riley and her obsession with her phone, texting, and then meeting a guy. This all comes to a twisty twist that you probably can see coming.

Good: I liked Riley and most of the other girls. Sure, a little one-dimensional but they all had their own quirks to make them interesting. I thought the pacing was solid and was never really bored throughout. The twist was pretty creepy and the ending shot even more so.

Bad: It's kind of a slice of life story but without any big "oh whoa" moments. It's on the edge of being kind of boring at times. I also thought the sister was a little "crazy" for the sake of it.

Overall a fun little story that I think could have been stronger. Better for younger teens, they will enjoy it, but Local is a much more powerful story IMO. A 3 out of 5 for this one.

Holy shit this is a pile of something all right.

So what happens when mix James Bond and his adventures with a ton of over the top sex, drugs, racial slurs, and more? Well you get Jimmy's bastards. So Jimmy fucks a lot. He's a unstoppable killing super agent. So then he got a bunch of girls prego and few years later out comes a bunch of his bastards ready to kill him. Perfect little story only Garth Ennis can make up.

Good: So yes, it's fucking insane. So it's entertaining to say the least...For that alone I give it credit and the art is fun.

Bad: It's fucking dumb. Like really really dumb. Satire is supposed to be funny or insightful (Flintstones) this is...neither. This is just using words like Trigger, Safe Space, and more to try and make a point. A lot of the jokes fall flat and some gross scenes do not save this.

Overall this is pretty terrible. I can't give it higher than a 1.5. So I'ma settle on that.

So...I finally found a comic/run by Brubaker I just did NOT like. I never knew this day would come.

Divided we Stand is basically a mixture of bringing back the old school feel of x-men with a bit of darkness splashed in between. I guess x-men got too dark with Messiah Complex (Which was excellent btw) and so they wanted to go back to more adventure feel of X-Men. In this one we follow Emma and Cyclops trying to figure out a secret plot and alternate reality thing going on. Wolverine, Nightcrawler, and more go on their own mission. Dunno why it's called Divided we Stand though...

Good: Some solid interaction moments with Emma and Cyclops. The colorful art is also a positive.

Bad: I thought the storyline was pretty dull and lifeless. The dialog between the villains and heroes is really bad. It feels like Brubaker was just not in to this series and this was his last go at it all.

Overall this was okay. Just like most of Brubaker's x-men stuff it's not horrible but I can't see myself ever revisiting this. A 2 out of 5.
