Fables volume 4 is probably the longest chapter so far, but easily the best of the bunch.

So what happens when Little Red Riding Hood comes strolling into fabletown. I thought she was dead? Least Boy Blue told the story of the fight of his life with his solider buddies before the Advisory and all his minions came to fuck shit up and force the fables to retreat into our world. However, not all is what it seems. Bigby right away knows something is up but will he be too late to uncover it all? Will the evil of the red riding hood convert everyone against the wolf? The mystery builds as does the war.

Good: The fight is really great here. Bloody, some unexpected deaths, some screwed up torture scenes, and some heartfelt, sad, and broken moments for each character. The ending too leaves a lot to be excited for. Also how great was the backstory to their world and how damaged our poor fables are? I loved all that.

Bad: It felt a little long in pacing. A issue cut here would have done wonders because sometimes I wanted to skip ahead some of the fluffy dialog that got in the way.

This is the strongest volume yet, giving us a lot of great moments, both fighting and dialog. I only hope the series continues to deliver in this quality. A 4 out of 5.

Well I'd like it alot more than 1 so that's good.

So after the death of a main character we have the rest of the women trying to find their role and still break out of this hell hole. The story doesn't skip a beat, throwing you right into the background of a main character and learn why her ultimate fate ended up that way. Then we jump into present time trying to build all these characters up for the big revolution. The escape. Do they do it? Well it wouldn't be fun if they didn't try.

Good: The art is easier to follow in this one and not as many crazy off color panels. I also thought they flushed out a few more characters and we got to know them. The ending too was pretty epic and fucked up, but worth getting through. The background story was sad, but needed, as it helped build why everyone is so upset.

Bad: The mass amount of characters will probably make you stop and re-read volume 1 or go on Wiki. It's hard to keep up with them all and then when they show up again you're like "Who are you?" also the pacing seemed off. What happened in 5 issues could have happened in 3.

This was much more enjoyable than volume 1 for me. I don't think it's "great" like many do but this is a solid, interesting, and well put together volume. A 3 out of 5.

Well I won't lie, this idea is pretty interesting, and it's also very adorable little manga.

So this opens up with the death of the main character's grandpa. We then find out the old man had a kid, a six year old kid, and now the grandson decides to take care of her. So I guess the grandson would be taking care of his aunt? Weird huh? Either way this really feels like a father and daughter type story, the way it builds up, and how to become the man you need to be in order to take care of the ones you love.

Good: The art is simple but honestly perfect for the atmosphere and feel. The characters are well established and interesting most of the time. The cuteness level is at a all time high (she's adorable) and the way he tries his best to be a good dad is great. Also his sister is nuts and that's the funny parts.

Bad: The pacing can be dreadfully slow. Adding in monologue that can be done in a page or two to cover 6 to 9 pages worth of it. I had trouble caring sometimes about the characters cause the pacing got in the way and took away my enjoyment.

Overall this is a cute, fun, and adorable story might want to check out. I'd give it a 3.5 out of 5 for being very enjoyable story. Check it out!

Ah my first doctor strange solo book. What did I think? Not bad.

So Strange is living his life. You know, taking care of demons on a different level than ours so we can't see or know about them. The supreme sorcerer really does have to work hard to protect us all. The story has a young girl come to his mansion for help taking demons out of her head, and then grows into something bigger, someone, or something, coming after the whole world of magic to take it down. Basically starting war with the magic users by the end.

Good: The art is really fun and well done. I loved the fights, the way it looks, just everything about the art spoke to me. I also loved the relationship of Strange and the new girl as they build it well and a non-creepy way. The ending also was great and made me want to continue the series, what every good first volume should do.

Bad: The storyline can be a little jumbled and a lot of talk of magic and spells that might not be all that interesting if haven't read strange before (raises hand). I also thought the extra pages of issue 1-2 werne't needed and disrupted the pacing.

Overall this was pretty fun. As someone who never cared about the character or read his stuff I found this pretty dang enjoyable. I'll sneak my score in at a 3 out of 5 and check out the rest of Jason's run.

I've been hearing I really have to pick this up so I finally did. Any good? Let's talk about it.

Booster Gold is a royal fuck up. Like, he's a cool guy, but he's also kind of a asshole and plays too much. Ever since we lost Ted though Booster trying to be better. He trying to take his superhero role a bit more serious. On top of that he gets a chance to visit very big moments in other heroes lives and try to change it for the better or fix things. Usually he can, sometimes not so lucky, but this is now his life.

Good: I enjoyed the start, it was campy fun and joyful superhero time. I also liked the Barbara issue a lot, a good lesson to teach someone like Booster. How great is Skeet? Funny little asshole robot worth the lolz.

Bad: The time jumping stuff can get a little too much. I also thought the whole father twist stuff was just a tad boring. Really issue 3-4 were issues with the idea and pacing for me.

Overall pretty fun little comic. I can see why he has such a cult following. I'll def be trying the next volume out hoping it stays entertaining.

Damn man it's no wonder everyone hates the Avengers books now. To top Hickman's run is near impossible from what I can tell.

So the New Avengers are planning on figuring out how to stop the end. We all know this. However, that means killing other timelines to ensure they live longer. The book opens with the death of two more timelines. Then we get to the meat of the storyline here. This one world is filled with Justice League like characters who somehow stopped their end and now the New Avengers decide that they'd like to meet them to figure out a solution. All doesn't go well, a fight breaks out, and we are introduced to the other side of our heroes who must do things they never wanted to do.

Good: The build up to the end is great. We actually feel the end coming and the stakes are high. The conversations between each character feel on edge, and rightfully so, and the battle with the alternate timeline is amazing and brutal. The ending leaves you in shock and awe and you can honestly say this is one of the best storylines ever for the Avengers.

Bad: The first two issues can be a bit hard to follow and confusing. I also thought the last two issues art got really meh compared to the rest. Like a huge step down and the reactions and emotional moments felt less impactful.

Overall though, New Avengers is fantastic. I still think Volume 3 of Avengers is the best in this series but this is very high up there. Time for "Time Runs out" next! This is a 4 out of 5.

So this was...something.

I haven't read much of venom outside of Agent Venom by Rick (Which btw is fucking amazing) and I'm always looking for new stories to check out (If have any drop 'em below!) but I decided to try this little mini-event out before the major event just because I like some of the creative teams here a lot. We have 5 different stories, all focuses on different characters from Laura, to Deadpool, to old man logan. Is it good? Well...

Good: I really enjoyed Laura's story. Matthew was able to capture the feeling and hatred she has in her as a young girl from all the horrible things they did on her, and even with Venom on her, she still remains somewhat good. I also enjoyed the Gwenpoole one because it remains fun just like the main series and Gwenpool's venom design is rocking.

Bad: The Deadpool and old man logan story were pretty bad. But nothing as bad as the Ghost Rider story which slams the breaks on the pacing of this event and makes it dreadful to get through. All the art is by different people, and while some artist I enjoyed here, it made it very hard to flow through (especially Ghost Rider issue) also the overarching Venom Captain America coming in at the end to recruit felt soooo much like Metal Event going on in DC right now.

Overall this is a big old meh pile. I mean, Laura's story and Gwenpool were fun What-ifs, and I guess I'll check out the main event, but don't expect this to turn you into a venom fan!

This is the best "New" X-Men title I've read in awhile.

It's time to enter the astral plane and face off against the Shadow King. Charles is back! OR Is he? People are obviously doubting him since he died awhile ago but he has the extreme psychic power to bring in a team of X-Men such as Gambit, Rogue, Old man Logan, and more. Together they go to save the professor and stop the Shadow King from breaking out. Twist and turns occur multiple times that lead to a very exciting ending.

Good: Loved the hell out of the art. Stylish and gritty enough to make it stand out. The characters all work together well, weather they agree or are bickering, it's all intense and interesting. The fights are great, and over the top action can only happen in the astral plane. Also the ending is fantastic and leads up to so many awesome stories that can come from this.

Bad: Some of the pacing slowed down in issue 3-4 and kind of a slog to get through a bit.

Overall this was fantastic for the most part. Funny, exciting, stakes, and great art. This is one of my favorite X-Men books in awhile. A 4 out of 5.

This is one weird as fuck Manga but it's kind of addicting to read.

So this one is just as weird if not weirder. The main character is forced to keep dating the girl he is madly in love with while his torturer is making him still wear her gym clothes that she once wore. The stakes get higher and the crazy girl forces the main character to confess he's a big fucking pervert and needs to express himself. It's so weird and out of this world but highly entertaining and interesting.

Good: The art solid, it's funny, it's weird as shit, and addicting to see what will happen to all these characters.

Bad: They hit a lot of cliches on Japanese "scared to do anything" man-tropes and "weak" woman but it fits the story I guess.

Overall trashy but fun. I can't stop reading. Give me more.

Really dug some of this, some not so much.

This is a bunch of one shots mixed in with a two part about a little girl going on an adventure to fit in with other kids and then Jack in the box guy's story and what he's dealing with. The main themes here is finding your place, and instead of being a regular outside look into superheroes these focus on the superheroes themselves and their internal mindset.

Good: The jack in the box stuff was great, interesting, and felt very mature for a superhero story without relying on darkness or death. I also thought the stuff with the kid going out on her own and trying to just be happy was nice and a good reflection to the fantastic four characters.

Bad: The other side stories in here were either dull or not interesting enough to remember. Sadly I can't remember any of them.

Overall a solid volume, some really great stuff, but uneven. I'd go with a 3 out of 5 because still very interesting at points, but it needs to find a main story per volume and stick to it.
