This is the book that hooked me into reading. Let me set the scene. I was in grade 5 and I was struggling with books for my age group. None of them interested me. My dad used to read tons of books when he worked night shift (this was before the age of cellphones and even really internet). He had read this book and he was talking about how good it was. I asked him if I could read it. He didn't think that I would be able to but he said if you can read it you can read it. I picked it up and I remember it took me about a month to read it but I was so proud of myself when I finished. I was then hooked on John Grisham's books. I loved being able to read them and then talk about them with my dad.
I used to keep a note book and write down any of the legal words that I didn't understand and then I would look them up in the dictionary LOL.

I did a book report on this book in grade 6. This resulted in my grade 6 teacher calling my parents and tattling on me (or so he thought). My dad already knew I was reading it he was the one who got it for me and he is the one who thought I would like it. My daughter is currently in grade 5 and I cannot imagine handing her this book to read but that is a whole different story lol. I my teacher then took me aside and said if I could answer his questions about the book then he would know I was understanding the book and actually reading it. We had a 2 hour long talk about the book and he realized I knew more about the book than he did. It is still one of my favourite reading memories growing up.
I read this book during my read all the John Grisham books I can get my hands on phase. I really liked this book. I think as far as all the John Grisham books I have read this was one of my favourites. Not a Tom Cruise fan so I did not like the movie as much as I liked the book. I actually ended up taking law in school and later working at a law firm as a legal secretary for a few years because of how much John Grisham novels I read in my youth. I now read totally different stuff as an adult but they are still nostalgic for me. This one is one of the ones I think maybe I should do a reread of to see if my thoughts have changed after working in the legal field.
This is another I read Ice Planet Barbarians, then I read Morning Glory Milking Farm and then I landed here. I heard tentacle porn, I was not disappointed. Katee Robert said something about this book and I love Katee Robert. I read this ridiculously fast and I will read it again. I don't know where I go from here.
I guess I am now into tentacle's...where do you go once you have hit tentacle's...

I read Lord of the Rings shortly after the seeing the first movie. I get crapped on for how I read them all the time. I tried to start the Fellowship of the Ring but I just couldn't get into it. So I read Two Towers first. Then I read the third book and then I went back and read this one. You kind of have to treat all three of the books as one giant book. I had a hard time with this one because there is just so much world building that my brain turned off and could not read it. This weird reading order did work for me though and I did enjoy reading this one last. Chaotic I know. I very much enjoyed reading this series as a hole the books are so well thought out and flow so magnificently.
And now back to Laura's chaotic reading of Lord of the Rings, I read the Towers first. I watched the first movie, couldn't get into the first book so I went to the 2nd book because I was too impatient to wait for the next movie to come out. I loved this book the most out of the three OG trilogy. I really got into this for whatever reason and sailed right through it. I was hooked. I couldn't even tell you a favourite part but the whole thing was great.
I finished the 2nd book with full intentions of going back and reading the first book before starting this one but I had to immediately pick this one up and just say screw it to the reading order. I loved the ending and I think it was perfect. Everything was wrapped up in a nice little package after an epic adventure. I don't think I would change anything and these books are very nostalgic for me. In fact maybe they are due for a reread at some point and a movie marathon!
I realize that I still haven't watched the movie for this book and I really should. I read this after reading the OG trilogy and I loved it more than the Fellowship of the Ring but not as much as the Two Towers or Return of the King. I loved the back story on Bilbo and getting to find out what happened there. I think if I was to reread the series after originally reading it I would read this first and then the Trilogy but if you haven't read any of the books I would read the Trilogy first. I think I enjoyed this more because I had read them first.
Okay so first thing you should know going into my review is that I found this book in a dollar discount bin as a teenager. The fact that I even read the entire thing and enjoyed any part of this book is a pure win in my book. I don't know why I loved this book so much. It's basically a B horror film in book form. I have however read this book at least 7 times since I was a teen and I weirdly enjoy it each time. Sure it may not be the best book in the whole entire world but the fact that I have read it so many times and enjoyed each reread gives it 5 stars.
Alice in Wonderland is such a great story. I own the most beautiful cloth bound version. I have read this book numerous times and seen most of the film adaptations. I love all the whimsical characters and the whole story. I have also read the book to both of my children who loved it.
