I know I have said this before, but I am so interested in accounts from family members of serial killers and those who were involved in other such heinous crimes. This was the account of Lana Padilla, the wife of Terry Nichols. Nichols is the coconspirator of Timothy McVeigh, and they participated in the Oklahoma City Bombing together. It was interesting to see something about Terry Nichols, because mostly everything I have read about that just barely mentions him and is focused solely on McVeigh. This was a decent read.

I randomly followed this historian on Twitter, which is how I discovered this book. I got this on Audible, and listened to it the past couple of nights. Medicine was GRIM back in the 1800s. I knew that from reading Civil War books, but this book really went into detail about how unsanitary things were. I had never heard of Joseph Lister until this book, which is unfortunate because he did a lot of work and came up with a lot of processes that improved medicine. A lot of his methods are in use today in various ways. This was a really informative book. She really did her research on this, and she really painted a picture of how gross surgical procedures and hospitals were during this time period. You could almost smell the filth.

This book is on the reading list for The Last Podcast On The Left, which is why I got this with my audible credits. This book tells the story of Robert Hansen, who kidnapped, raped, and murdered women in Alaska. He focused mostly on transient prostitutes, as a lot of serial killers do, in hopes that their disappearances would not raise any alarm. Most people assumed that he was a run of the mill husband and businessman, but he certainly had a nasty side to him. Police estimate he had thirty or more victims, though the number he confessed to was considerably less than that. It was amazing how long he was able to get away with his miscreant ways. This was an informative, interesting book.

Ann Rule presents the facts of all the cases featured in this book in a way that is easy to read and factual. This book was just okay, in my opinion. I do not really care for the books that feature several cases in one. I like an in depth view of one specific case. I know there are a lot of die hard Ann Rule fans that love these types of books, and they can be a good introduction into the world of true crime for people who are just getting into it.

Natives in the United States have gotten such raw treatment throughout the years. They were repeatedly swindled and lied to. Genocide was perpetrated against them. They were killed, they were removed from their lands. Reading about this topic makes me so angry and truly breaks my heart. Wounded Knee was a terrible event in and of itself, but the experience of so many Natives and what they endured is tragic as a whole.

In this seventh book of the Anita Blake saga, Anita is recruited by the fire captain to help solve a series of mysterious arsons. There is an issue that involves Anita and the wereleopard pard, an issue with the werewolf pack, an assault against Jean-Claude, and the insufferable Richard makes another appearance. The death toll in this book was surprisingly small in comparison with some of the earlier books, but it was a good book overall.

This book outlines the events leading up to the Battle of Bunker Hill and the beginnings of the American Revolutionary War. The Battle of Bunker Hill was fought on Saturday June 17, 1775. The hill was actually not the sight of most of the fighting, that was actually Breed's Hill, which I had never heard about previously. Colonial troops under the command of William Prescott occupied both Bunker and Breed's Hill when they discovered that British troops were on the move. The resulting battle wound up being fairly brutal, with the British losing over 1,000 and the Colonials losing over 400. The British wound up winning the ground, but the implications of this event for the Revolution were massive.

I really enjoyed the quotes in this book from some of these notable names, and the author did a great job including those and doing the research for this book. I really enjoy the work of Nathaniel Philbrick, and I have never been disappointed in any of his work. This book was no exception. I learned a lot from it, and even had a few laughs from some of the quotations included. This book is certainly necessary reading for people interested in the American Revolution, especially if you are just starting out.

This is the story of Bobby Kent, who was, by most accounts, a bully in his town of Fort Lauderdale, Florida. Someone lured Bobby Kent out to the Everglades, where he was later found dead. This book covers his death and the investigation into his murder. It was not really shocking to me to read about the things that he did to other people, and the things that were done to him. People are just generally cruel to each other. I checked this book out from the library, and it was a good read.

Blessed union of souls. This was another let down. I am doing my best to be a loyal fan, but it is getting a little difficult. This is more vampire issues, body snatching, sex, and tedious relationship nonsense. I really do not even have much to say, other than I am continuing to hope the upswing in this series comes soon, before I drown in disappointment.

This book was about the Buffalo Creek mining disaster. Reading about the negligence of the company was infuriating to me. So many companies want to cut corners and cut costs, and terrible things happen and they hate to be accountable for what they did or did not do. I cannot imagine a tidal wave of coal waste washing away everyone and everything I knew. These people really went through a terrible experience. I hate to say this was a good book because it covered something so awful, but it was a good read.
