This was a really in depth history of Prohibition. I was concerned that it would be a tedious read, but it was written in a way that kept it engaging throughout. Certainly a good book, and one of the better ones I chose for the February 2021 Reading Challenge list.

This was a well researched book. I was slightly less interested than I hoped to be. It read fairly slow, but perhaps that was because I have the Audible edition. This book focused more on the people who were murdered, as opposed to the murderer. A lot of books always focus on the life of the murderer, so I enjoyed this other perspective. I had never heard of this killer and these cases, so I did learn quite a lot from this book. I would recommend it, but I may suggest a physical copy.

I bought this book for the sole reason that it was written by one of my favorite podcast groups. I have listened to all of the podcasts about the killers that were featured in this book, so I did not really learn a whole lot that wasn't covered in the podcasts. I loved the little snippet inserts of comments by Marcus, Henry, and Ben. I also really liked all of the artwork in the book. It was well written, and I know that Marcus worked very hard on it. I love this book simply for the fact that is a great piece to have in my collection, and I will most likely read it again! It would have been better if I was able to have it signed, but the show was cancelled thanks to corona. Maybe one of these days!

This is the personal account of Letitia Baldrige, who came from a modest background, but was able to attend some of the more elite schools. Her father was a Congressman, which opened up a lot of doors for her, as far as education and experiences. She was very social and well dressed, and attended many embassy functions in Europe. She had a really interesting collection of life experiences, but I was shocked to learn that working for Jackie Kennedy was the worst experience of her careers. She was not impressed with Jackie as a boss and I was really surprised by some of the comments that she made in this book. It was a pretty good read.

Alison Weir is a top notch historian. I have not read a book of hers yet that I do not like. This is a deep dive into the life and times of Anne Boleyn, first the mistress of Henry VIII and then Queen. She had an interesting life, and her manipulations and intrigues were very entertaining. She really moved herself to the top of the world before it all came crashing down around her for the whims of a man. The lives of women in this era are so interesting to me. I really liked this book a lot.

This is the continuation of the Lady Almina book by the same author. Catherine Wendell married Lady Almina's son, becoming the Sixth Lady Carnarvon. Lady Catherine became Lady of the House during a time when a lot of estates and great homes were in failure after World War I. It took a lot of ingenuity to be able to make the homes fiscal and in the black. I really enjoyed this book, and it would be great for those who are fans of Downton Abbey.

This book is about Lady Almina, the Fifth Countess of Carnarvon. Lady Almina was the daughter of Alfred de Rothschild. Lady Almina's dowry saved the estate, and she threw herself into becoming a proper Lady of the house. She opened the doors of the house for the World War I wounded, and a lot of her characteristics and actions were included in the popular show Downton Abbey. I really enjoyed this book and learning about the real people of Highclere Castle. I am a huge fan of Downtown Abbey, and this book was suggested on a list for people who like that show. I am glad I got it!

This book was a little bit boring to me, probably because I had heard so much about this case from the press and a couple of documentaries and podcasts. I think the facts were presented in an unbiased way, and the author did a good job on the book. What happened to Laci was disgusting and tragic, and I feel terrible for her and her family. Scott Peterson is a cretin.

I like the work of Simon Winchester, but I was disappointed in this particular book. I felt like it was extremely long winded, and I could not get into it. I am usually really interested in nonfiction history books, as well as disaster books. This was just not the one for me.

I cannot believe we are on book twenty one, and there still isn't much improvement. We are still nitpicking every single thing that happens in every one of her hundred relationships. She still cannot handle anything emotional without having to talk about it for a million pages. She is still having sex or talking about sex or thinking about sex absolutely all the time. There is a vampire afoot that is turning children and teens, and the focus could be on solving this mystery, but it barely touches on it, really. It's all about babying everyone's feelings. If conducting an open or poly relationship is this tedious and complicated, perhaps we need to cut some of the partners. Nobody can accomplish anything for all the whining and talking that they have to do. I could never.
