This book is about Lady Almina, the Fifth Countess of Carnarvon. Lady Almina was the daughter of Alfred de Rothschild. Lady Almina's dowry saved the estate, and she threw herself into becoming a proper Lady of the house. She opened the doors of the house for the World War I wounded, and a lot of her characteristics and actions were included in the popular show Downton Abbey. I really enjoyed this book and learning about the real people of Highclere Castle. I am a huge fan of Downtown Abbey, and this book was suggested on a list for people who like that show. I am glad I got it!
