Beautiful, unusual story with an unexpected ending. The book seems to be for children, though I think it will have more of an effect on adults. Would highly recommend for an emotional read that takes 10 minutes or so.

I loved these poems. The only reason I’m giving four stars instead of five is that the word usage and subject matter is repetitive. Honestly though, the poems are beautiful and have great ambience. I feel the translations likely don’t do the originals justice but I enjoyed them nonetheless. My favorite poem by far was “On Climbing Up to P’ei Ti’s Small Terrace”. It effectively communicated the relationship between friends and the distance between people and their mindsets. I would recommend these poems to anyone who prefers simplistic, ambient poems that focus on nature or loneliness.

The ideal queer coming of age story. Gorgeous art and a diverse cast. Emotional and genuine and perfect.

What an interesting book and experience. This book is very short, takes place during a 24 or so hour period and revolves around a man whose gay partner/ boyfriend recently passed away. Being that it is such a short period and does not have a strong/ clear climax, it feels somewhat similar to Catcher in the Rye, though perhaps more mature in tone/ narration. The book definitely makes you think about the human condition and gives no clear answers as to the solutions of life’s problems. It was intriguing yet painful and lovely. Some points were weaker than others though I’d still recommend it.

A detailed, accurate telling of the crimes of the US imperialist government, particularly around the time of the Gulf war and the Iraq war. If you want accurate accounts of things the US/ major media outlets may have lied to you about, this is a good place to start.

Gorgeous art and wonderful aesthetic. Great for sci-fi lovers of 80’s fans. The only thing holding it from 5 stars imho is that it’s too fast paced and there’s not a lot of time to process all the info.

What a wild ride. Tons a surprises, tons of action. Beautiful art and a plot that seems intensely complex. My only critique is that it moves almost *too* fast. Super enjoyable though.

I expected this to be a great, 5 star read but unfortunately that wasn’t the case. This novel follows an old woman who loves animals and hates the hunters that kill them. She is obsessed with astrology and tends to ramble often. Her neighbors are being murdered and she is often thrown in the mix one way or the other. While some of the writing was fascinating, the main character’s ramblings were a bit repetitive imho. Additionally, the ending left me feeling a bit underwhelmed. I had hoped the book would take a fabulist/ magic realism turn and make a forest spirit, wild animal, or similar power the one committing the murders. This isn’t the case. Unfortunately, the ending is mundane and more psychological than anything else. This book has one of those murder mystery endings that involves withholding information from the reader on purpose rather than giving the reader a chance to solve things themselves. While some of the writing and atmosphere was good, this book wasn’t for me.
