Read it in one day. It’s behind-the-music meets almost famous.
Blown away by how TJR can make these characters feel like real life people.
There is a twist at the end that changes your perspective of the entire book.

A quick read that will have you thinking about it long after it’s over.

Awful. No character investment. No chemistry. Very cringy.

There were too many characters and POVs for me to truly care about them.

Does pick up in the last 30% or so.

I think Evie Dunmore gets better with each book.
The historical aspect intertwined with a familiar love story (hades & Persephone) makes for a pleasing read.

Updated review:

Dunmore is my top tier historical romance writer because she does not take the historical part lightly.

The research that went into this book is refreshing. It grounds these characters and established an equal understanding.

I adored the transformation Hattie goes through. The way she goes from a naive and righteous girl looking for approval to an empathetic, curious and self assured woman.

Balm for the heart.
Incredibly cathartic in the light of how lonely disappear can be. But above all its hilarious.

I also adored the way suspense was built & things were revealed.

This is equal parts romance & self-reflection. Both of the main characters are in a place in their lives where they’re broken and trying to deal with the aftermath of traumatic events.

It’s wholesome, thought provoking & at times quite funny.

Incredible how Miller intertwined aspects of everyday womanhood with known Greek myths.
Circe’s life is one of hardship, misunderstandings, cruelty but also love, solitude and compassion.

My only con was how slow pace this book is. It’s written in the style of Homer.

Such a highly enjoyable book. Incredibly funny considering at the core of the plot is grief. Very wholesome.
