This book has a wonderful premise (two strangers forced to shelter from a storm together) that lends itself to rely heavily on dialogue. This may have increased my expectations and picture something along the lines of the Before movie series. Unfortunately, the dialogue rarely felt natural or engaging. There were many references to Disney, Star Wars, & Beatles that took me out of the experience. Also, the attempt at creating depth felt like trauma dumping rather. 

However, I can see this being enjoyed by other readers and I look forward to seeing what this author duo bring out in the future.

My Libby copy had to be returned was up and honestly I had such a hard time picking up this book. 
It’s a never ending list of stories from this women’s traumatic childhood. Which isn’t an issue in and of itself except for the way she tells the story — one after the other with very little liaison between them. Made me feel like I was drowning.
These would be great at a dinner party to mention one or two in a convo but this format (and quantity) was not for me.

I went into this blind. Medea’s story is not one I’m overtly familiar with however I enjoy Greek mythology and the comparisons made to Circe by Madeline miller did lure me to this.

However, this felt extreme slow and I found I would rarely feel drawn to read it. 

I think it’s for those familiar with the story (and know what to look forward to) and/or those more intrigued by Greek mythology.

The first quarter of the book was so fast paced as all the drama with the criminal husband unfolded.  

After that it started to feel extremely repetitive at times and sadly, their romance is just not hitting it for me.  

However, I adored her best friends, the daughters, and the sisters. Also the representation through both Soledad’s boricuan roots and Judah’s sons having autism (and how his coparenting works), etc. These grounded the story in a really lovely way.

I just couldn’t — this falls into that grumpy-sunshine troupe we’re the sunshine acts like they’re 4 for 80% of the time. 
The premise was fun tho
