I remember this being the weakest of the series back when I read them as a kid. I never thought about it too much. I will say I wish Circe was not portrayed as an evil sorceress. Circe by Madeline Miller reigns as my bias haha.

Reread: 4.5
The beginning is slow, but the story and end are amazing overall.

My first ever reread of this book since either 5th or 6th grade.. WOW. Still stands the testament of time as a powerful YA.
This reread was amazing. I’ve always enjoyed the complexities of this book the most in terms of politics and such because you can tell Suzanne put a lot of thought into it. It’s hard to think about the fact that Katniss and Peeta are basically 17 since during the last games they were 16.. Reminding myself of this constantly along with the wedding and pregnancy truly just intensifies how messed up this world has become that these young adults resort to this. An impactful book 110% still to this day.
I know everyone hates this book for some reason, but I’ve always felt so satisfied by it. It’s certainly not the games like the last few books, but again the politics and blind sided moments are incredible. Just... it made sense to me is basically why I adore it. Nothing seems wrong.
Reread #2: Originally rated this 3.25 but upon this reread it has become a solid 4.
Edit: Upon even more recollection this book is a 5 haha because I keep going back to quotes and the themes of this beautiful book.
Reread #3: This time was more a skim than a true reread, but I flipped through each page searching for quotes to aid my paper about normative ethical theories in YA lit.. sooo.. I reread this basically haha. In my opinion, I did.

For the first time since 2016 I read The Bone Season, and my heart has never been fuller. I loved this book for a different reason back when I was 16, but now that I’m 21.. it’s just I see the adult themes better. I understand Paige better. I didn’t know I could love this book more.
