I liked this book more as it went along, slow pick up but a hell of a kick at the end. Dashner did a good job at making us understand Thomas's frustration, as well as giving me such a strong mental image of things I couldn't help but watch the trailer and think 'that's so wrong'.

Eoin Colfer is pretty much amazing. Every book is a joy to read, and I love how this one brought in realistic aspects of early airplanes. Watching Conor grow, from an infant in a balloon to a fierce protector is amazing. I love his sense of self, I love his dream, and I even love the hard lessons he had to learn because they ring so true. I can't believe it took me so long to get around to reading this.

I think what really made me interested in this series (through the movie) was how it played on common cultural ideas and the imagination with which it did so. Gibson's story here is beautiful, aided by his illustrations, and I can't help but feel young again; awed by heroes, the idea of a Man in the Moon, and the power of belief.

couldn't help but feel a kinship with Pike based on her personal quest.
