This book hits on pretty much all of my least favorite tropes: immortals who have met every famous person in history, training that should take years taking seconds, special twins with super rare magics they don't know about, characters who seem to have no depth, jokes that aren't funny, and so many more that I've literally lots count. I struggle to find anything good to say about this piece. It was so busy and yet nothing actually happened? For a book as long as it is very little actually happens. It's all lead up to the next book because literally nothing gets resolved in this one. I am disappointed on so many levels.

I haven't picked up a Manga in about eight years give or take. This was mostly because most Manga tend to have the same themes and the same characters. While Attack on Titan falls into a lot of the same tropes (I'm thinking specifically of character tropes here) it is a unique and interesting. The world building looks pretty solid from the first volume with lots of room for plots that are political, physical, and mental. I'm glad I bought the first two as I'm excited to find out where the story takes the reader next. I don't think that this means I'm returning to Manga full time. I like Titan but I'm reminded while reading it how much I struggle with the art (I often found it a struggle to understand what the pictures on the page were telling me). But I like the story enough that I'll keep reading.
