THIS WAS DARLING.

I adored this book and it is officially my new favorite by Amanda. I loved the connection between Tyler and Kelsey. There’s some playful banter and a prank war that doesn’t get out of control and lots of good forced proximity moments. (*note: I do consider this a sweet version of enemies to lovers not a full blown enemies mode). And I will say I LOVED how the preconceived notions were handled between them.

I loved watching Tyler and Kelsey interact and constantly found myself wanting to pick up this book. It’s light and sweet and brought me some joy. The chemistry was FELT and gosh do I love good kissing scenes.

There was a minor quip I had about the third act and with Evie. Do five year old’s have homework every day and ballet dance solos? Because that didn’t quit click for me. Otherwise Evie was really cute and a fun addition to the story (and maybe we get her mom’s book too??).

ANYWHO. A delightful read. I love a strong female friendship group. The Taylor Swift references are fun and I look forward to reading more in this series.

 WELL I LOVED THIS.

This one found me at the right time because I just had a good time with this. 600 pages who? It did not matter because I was glued to my headphones devouring this story.

I loved Celie’s journey. With a substantial character arc woven throughout, you definitely got a feel for everything she went through. I loved that she maintained a soft, feminine nature while also showing how strong and filled with perseverance you can be too. It’s a beautiful balance.

And I was obsessed with the romance (it is very open door so I would not call this a YA book). I loved the heat and swoon and all of the between Michal and Celie.

I felt satisfied with how everything wrapped up with the ending. The characters had the conclusions I needed and getting a little epilogue was exactly what I was hoping for.

- NA Fantasy Romance
- Language: mild
- Romance: 2-3 open door
- Violence: high

WORTH THE WAIT…MAYBE?

I have been waiting for this book for a LONG TIME. I loved The Stardust Thief and have been waiting to see where all of my favorite characters are up to. Did I love this as much as I hoped? No, unfortunately I didn’t. Definitely enough to read book three, this one was just harder to move through.

Mazen and Loulie are my favorite POV’s and I liked the journey they went on the most. There’s some good turns and rising levels of action as another quest begins. I liked the expansion of the world and magic systems and seeing some of those character arcs really blossoming.

Aisha had a good journey too and it did help set up some of the plot lines for book three. I like that this has complicated antagonists and that it’s hard to trust every person who walks on page.

I think if you enjoyed book one you would still enjoy this book. I think the turn from more action driven rather than character driven took away from some of the moments I was hoping to see turn up.

 REALLY SWEET.

This book just made me smile. I feel like all of these books have brought the smiles. This series has been such a delight!!

I loved both of the main characters, Nori and Cash. I thought there was charming banter and chemistry from the beginning. The way Cash constantly found ways to be around Nori (even when he was resisting his feelings) was my absolute favorite. I love when a man is GONE.

The mirror aspect didn’t quite click for me, I felt like I never understood what was happening? I’m not sure it was needed for this book. (**I’ve also noticed that this is the third book in this multi-author series with the same dating a bunch of guys format and that felt a little repetitive**).

I enjoyed the Cash and Nori overcame their problems and started to lean on each other. There were really great characters ARCs. This was sweet and romantic and easy recommend.

WELL THAT WAS INTERESTING.

I read dark fantasy fairly often, I like dark fantasy, I liked dark academia, but I’ve neve read a dark romance. And this email caught me in a mood and that mood wanted to try this author out. Will I read another one?? I don’t think so, even though I did like this book.

What I loved circled around all of the mystery and atmosphere. This is quintessential dark academia and I loved the vibes. It felt haunting and the suspense elements alongside the secret societies are what I expect and what I like when I pick up a dark academia book (though this is being tagged as fantasy and there’s no fantasy elements FYI).

And I will say there were pieces of the romance I did like. I am who I am and I love a good jealousy moment so those worked for me. The spice though? Yeah, that’s not for me. And there were more scenes than I had anticipated needing to skip which took me out of the book often too.

I do think this wrapped up things well for a standalone and that you got the overall answers you needed. I loved that there was a epilogue at the end to get that happy ever after feeling. This book had good writing and story telling, and I’m not upset that I tried it out.

ENJOYABLE CONCLUSION.

I appreciate that all of these books can be read as standalones. I’ve read only books seven and eight and haven’t had any issues in enjoying the stories. You do get to see all of the previous characters so I imagine reading them in order would add to that, but it’s okay if you want to start here too!

This is a sweet historical romance with one of my favorite tropes, marriage of convenience. I liked Sampson and Grace a lot and looooove getting dual POV and understanding both of their mindsets and decisions. The only thing I was missing were some more interactions between them. I would have loved the relationship to have more development and really see that chemistry being built.

I liked the suspense elements added in and not quite knowing how things were going to work out in the end. It’s a wonderful balance of light and dark and I think the faith aspects are preachy, just woven in to add another layer to the story.

I loved seeing the epilogue and where all the characters have ended up and thought this was a beautiful book.

FANTASTIC CONCLUSION.

Where do I even begin?! I devoured this audiobook in two days (I had a long excursion one day so admittedly that helped) BUT ANYWAYS. I couldn’t put this book down!!! The audio production is amazing and really brings this book to a new level for me. I love listening to these characters.

I was a little worried about some plot points and different pieces but when I finished the book and realized the necessity of the decisions behind the journey, I felt more at peace with what went down.

The romance is once again a JOURNEY. The banter between Kai and Pae is still absolutely everything to me!!! And I might have to read this physically to highlight all of the moments between them. There’s sweet, and heat, and passion, and anger, and fear, and ALL THE EMOTIONS. I love all the emotions.

And I do think it wrapped up in the ways that made the most sense. I loved having a third POV (you’ll see!!!) because that story made me theorize HARD and when my theories were correct I was pleasantly shocked because I don’t think I’ve read that before and I love new to me things.

This book had a little bit of everything and is truly one of the most solid YA trilogies I’ve read in a hot minute. The conclusion I’ve been hoping for delivered.

- YA Fantasy Romance

- Romance: one closed door
- Violence: moderate – high
