Thank you Macmillan Audio for the ALC.
I was interested in trying a new author but I'm just not into these types of books. And life is too short to listen to something I'm not enjoying.

The amount of telling vs. showing already happening was not a good sign for the rest of the book.

Y'all. PAGES without dialogue. I can't. There was no actual progression in plot, romance, characters, anything. Just repetitive inner monologues about the day to day at the castle.
UGH. I wanted to love this.
Moving on.

I didn't like all of the pet names. Sweets, baby love, sweetheart. It all did not work.
No world building, I am SO CONFUSED by all of the magic and what's actually happening.
By now I should be seeing a better plot set up and that wasn't the case.
Didn't enjoy much of the characters either. And why all the flashback chapters???

I can tell from the first 200 pages there's no way this book needs to be 800+ pages. A cool concept but too many long winded tangents that don't help the character development of plot.

I gave it 160 pages.
I wasn't super connected to the story and the amount of spice in this already wasn't working for me. It felt added to give the story something because we were still wandering around a forest and I was getting booooored.

Too heavy on the innuendo in the hero's POV. Just wasn't necessary and took me out of the story.
Could not handle the writing style.
I just wasn't feeling this and I would get frustrated having to pick it back up.
Not the way I want to enjoy reading so on to the next!
