CHARMING SECOND CHANCE.

Audiobook notes: I love two narrators for a two POV romance. I thought both were amazing and I was swept away to historical England.
This was another good read for the series! It does lean a little away from romance and focuses a lot on grief and self growth and finally severing the ties that are holding you back. I absolutely adored Felix. He was carrying so much on his shoulders and worked hard to make things work the best he could.
Anne, I struggled with a little. I thought her Mom issues held her down for SO long and I was waiting for that freedom moment where Anne had the spotlight. Because when she showed up in that dress? I SWOONED. Felix has been pining for years and that man deserved a break. I actually loved that this didn’t have big flashback chapters and that we got to see more at present what was happening.
I loved seeing the other Belles and just being back in this world. Mimi Matthew’s books are always wonderful reads for me and this was no different.
Overall audience notes:
- Historical Romance
- Language: none-low
- Romance: kisses
- Violence: moderate
- Trigger/Content Warnings: toxic parent, mentions of child labor

ABSOLUTELY LOVED.
This is now my new favorite Erin Hahn book. I love the way she writes new adult stories and wow did this one just hit every single thing right. I LOVED the setting and all of the cowboy content. The ranch and horses, bull riding and rodeos, it was all magnetic and I was entranced.
And the romance?? ARE YOU KIDDING ME. This was the softest friends to lovers. That genuine, I am here to be your friend, and then realizing that person means a whole lot more to you. Oh my gosh I was WEAK. I adored Case, I loved seeing his grief and his awakenings and the way he cares for those he loves. And how he found what made him passionate and the future he wanted to pursue (which also was one of the 10 reasons I was tearing up reading this). Winnie was also spectacular. I was cheering her on from the beginning. Her tenacity and strength, bless her for finding ways to lets others help in her life too. I loved the deep sibling bond she had with Garrett and Jesse and the way everything worked out for them in the end.
This book was pure magic. I have zero complaints. NO NOTES. It was everything I needed when I picked it up. I loved the story and how Walker was woven in. I loved the friends and so many small moments that packed a punch and really brought this entire book together. There’s even no third act nonsense, AND IT WAS BLISS Y’ALL. The whole book, just go read it. Thank me later.
Overall audience notes:
- NA Contemporary Romance
- Language: strong and high
- Romance: 2 closed door scenes
- Violence: low
- Trigger/Content Warnings: loss of a friend (grief depictions throughout), underage drinking, absentee father

SOME GOOD.

Oh y’all. I have tried, but I just don’t think this writing style is for me. There’s a handful of quirks that kept taking me out of the story.
I did like some of the tropes in this one. The forbidden romance was fun and the mutual pining was really sweet. I liked Duke a bunch. He was a swoony lead who was really trying to put his best foot forward into the future he wanted. The years of this tension worked well into many forced proximity moments.
The small town vibes are there and I love the strong connection between friends and others around them. There’s some humor and lightness. It’s flirty and pleasant and a great slow burn.
Overall audience notes:
- Contemporary Romance
- Language: none
- Romance: kisses
- Trigger/Content Warnings: brief mention of a fatal car crash

I hoped for more y’all. Did I have too high of expectations? I don’t know, but this didn’t hold everything I wanted.
Once of my biggest issues was lack of plot. It’s very meandering and didn’t feel like a lot of thought was given to it. And the world building and magic system still felt out of my grasp. As if I was missing some bigger explanation that would have made everything make sense.
There was some good banter (like book one) between Alessa and Dante. I do think they’re a great match even if I thought things were up and down. They eventually made some strides and the ending does put you through an emotional ringer (regardless of the fact I wasn’t too emotionally rung because of my other issues).
Not the conclusion I was totally after, but I felt like it did wrap things up well enough to give a solid ending.

THERE WAS A LOT OF MUSIC.
BLOG || INSTAGRAM
And I totally get it, that’s the theme of the whole book. But dare I say, I felt like there were too many musically related things? I felt like every page was dedicated back to some song lyric Riley had written or how the day felt lyrical or about every little thing involving the tour. The whole vibe SCREAMED at you (and maybe that’s your thing??).
There were some solid second chance romance things though. I liked the bit of push and pull and there were tension filled moments too. I could truly feel the bond between them and that we’ll find out way back to each other-ness that I adored. Max was a lovable quiet guy who finally took the big shots he deserved.
Riley was a bit up and down for me. She frustrated me and I also saw her thought process. I think I was hoping for a turnaround about song writing in this book and not just one brief moment towards the end. The grand gesture deserves a star on its own though. I thought it was perfect, well placed and balanced for the story. Loved that so much!

- Romance: 2 open door; low explicit
- Trigger/Content Warnings: mentions of divorce

NOT MY FAVORITE.
BLOG || INSTAGRAM || TIKTOK
I kept wanting to love this book and then I kept struggling with the FMC. My biggest hold up is this idea that a woman can’t handle being in a relationship (that she wants to be in) AND have the career she want too. So when the inevitable third act breakup happens I get cranky. Are you truly not able to balance both things? It’s okay to be in love!
Cord was a golden retriever gem though. I loved his unwavering support and the fact that he was just gone for Pearl from the get go. I thought the flashback chapters did enhance the story and we got to see this fated side of their romance. Though I could have done without the benefits vibe for most of the book.
It’s a very quick read, there’s some good themes (and as mentioned, frustrating ones). Not my favorite book by this author, but I am hopeful about the next!

A HISTORY BOOK.
BLOG || INSTAGRAM || TIKTOK
I am a bit disappointed by this book. It felt closer to a history book rather than an indie version of Addie LaRue (of which I loved). The years chosen for all of these jumps didn’t feel random necessarily, but there wasn’t a good flow of the plot of the jumps Anna hangs around different critical moments of history, talks about how horrible they are, and then goes to the next one.
Khiran is kind of a love interest? They seem to talk only ever few hundred years (until later in the story) and I honestly never felt a true connection. Yes, there’s some good moments but nothing I’d rave about.
I’m confused by the magic system, we had one story at the very end that kind of described what was happening, and that was it. We meet some other immortals with no background info and I wish this was more fully put together.
I don’t have plans to read the next book.
Overall audience notes:
- Historical Fantasy Romance
- Language: a little
- Romance: one low explicit open door
- Violence: high
- Trigger/Content Warnings: witnessing a lot of humanities crimes, attempted sexual assault, loss of life

THE MUTUAL PINING.
BLOG || INSTAGRAM
I was a smitten puddle of goo after finishing this book y’all. I feel like I am officially a Hailey Gardiner fan girl. I love the way she writes stories and conveys love in such a beautiful and positive light.
The combination of mutual pining and banter was my favorite. Oh they way they battled with wits and charm and clearly I’m so into you vibes. GAH. It was everything. It was light but with the right level of passion and concern. The song writing aspects were great and I was just really invested in this whole thing.
I wouldn’t dub this an off limits romance with how a few things panned out in the story but that’s a minor issue. The grand gesture at the end WAS EVERYTHING I NEEDED AND MORE. I love a well placed moment like this and I just can’t get enough.
