I love the exploration of history with each book in this series. This one crossed the birth of aviation and the Salem Witch Trials. I liked seeing the comparisons and differences between the time periods and how each woman, Grace and Hope, interpreted what was happening.
I did think it had a little bit of a slow start. The 1692 chapters didn’t have the same pace as the 1912 ones and I kept wanting to get back to those. After the halfway point I though the plot started moving much better and I wanted to hustle to find out what happens next.
There’s always sweet romances woven in and I loved the way they both played out for the twins. I loved the love interests and the support and care they provided Grace and Hope through their trials. It’s all very sweet and heartfelt and only adds to the story.
I enjoyed many of the moments coming full circle with collision of past and present. I loved the faith aspects and the infused hope and love that was in this book. I can’t wait for more!
Overall audience notes:
- Historical Fiction + Romance
- Language: none
- Romance: kisses
- Violence: low-moderate
- Trigger/Content Warnings: falsely accused imprisonment, hangings (historical depictions of the trials), plane crashes

I have been anticipating this release since I read A Dawn of Onyx when it was an indie book. This did not disappoint! I thought it was a really solid book two. I added a half star back because of the ending, I love a chaotic and wild cliffhanger. All the intense action and me shouting WHAT HAPPENS NEXT.
I liked most of how the romance went throughout this. I didn’t understand the necessity of adding a brief love triangle. Besides that, I liked the push and pull between Arwen and Kane. Some good groveling and heated moments between them. And with the ending I think I’m going to love what book three holds for them too.
The plot takes a long time to truly move forward, but there was plenty of action and politicking mixed in with creature clashes. The audiobook was fantastic and I love that I can just enjoy this series.
Overall audience notes:
- Fantasy Romance
- Language: moderate
- Romance: 2-3 open door
- Violence: high

Gosh I love this writing duo. I have been so excited to start a new series and it delivered. I love the setting and plot. I absolutely love big families and all of the humor and love that’s woven throughout. I was laughing and swooning and just binging this book because it was making my heart feel joy.
I loved West and Jade. The banter was fantastic and I loved seeing Jade slowly but surely open up and realize what goodness was in front of her. And I was very much in the mood for an Alpha romance and West delivered on that front. I loved how protective he was and the way he cared for Jade and everyone around him.
My one tiny tidbit is how Jade handled a situation towards the end, it felt a little out of character after all of the growth she had. It didn’t ruin my reading experience, but I did get a little bugged by it.
I loved all of the wolfy things and the pacing and action and heat. All the tension and all the almost moments. I can’t wait for the next book!!
Overall audience notes:
- Paranormal Romance
- Language: moderate
- Romance: 2-3 open door; low innuendo
- Violence: moderate-high
- Trigger/Content Warnings: a past abusive relationship, loss of parents (recounted)

SO I DIDN’T HATE THIS?

I have been holding off on reading this book for a very long time. I just didn’t think it was going to work for me. But one day, I was like, I need a a cowboy romance, and here we are.
This was definitely a debut and I rode on vibes for it, which helped a lot. There was quite a bit of telling vs. showing that must be why it was such a quick read. I would have loved the scenes mentioned to have been expounded upon to get a better and deeper understanding of the characters.
For it’s benefit, the quick read also worked for me. I loved the setting. I loved the dynamics between this family and look forward to future books because of it. The brother’s best friend trope worked well and there were some really good swoony moments.
I think if there’s a bit more plot next time (rather than just hanging out around the ranch) I’ll turn into a big fan.
Overall audience notes:
- Contemporary Romance
- Language: moderate
- Romance: 3-4 open door
- Violence: low

I found this to be a good middle book. I liked the introduction of new characters and seeing the expansion of the story line. I miss Evar and Livira a bit but luckily they were most heavily present in the second half of the book. It’s such an interesting concept and a very intensely layered world building and magic system.
I think that’s also kind of my issue though? It’s so intricate that I still feel partially lost by the end of it each time. How the library is formed, who’s where and in what time period, all of the crossing back and forth through portals is a LOT. I do like listening to the audiobook as it’s helped me stay more focused on what’s happening.
Definitely still interested in continuing this series. I do enjoy Lawrence’s writing style and find this entire concept fascinating. This was a book I kept wanting to pick up and found myself even more attached to the characters. There’s plenty of great action, some good slower moments and even a few heart breaking ones too.

I LIKED IT.

I wasn’t sure how I would feel about this forbidden romance, but honestly, it didn’t bug me all that much. I liked the set-up and just kind of rolled with the fantasy of this plot. I was here for vibes, and I liked the vibes.
The FMC was a bit dumb though. I didn’t like her POV as much with how repetitive she was and kind of unobservant of her situation. I think multiple things could have been handled differently, but I did love that she was a volleyball player and eventually found her passion and dreams.
I adored Toren. He was a sweet and I could not get enough of this age gap. There is something in Perry’s writing that pulls me in and I find myself flipping pages as fast as I can. I enjoyed the plot and had a good time reading this.

Thank you Del Rey for the ARC.
I TRIED.
I have tried reading this author twice and I just don’t think we’re a match. I wanted to love this one, I was very intrigued by the summary, and ultimately a lot fell flat.
I don’t think I realized this was much more urban fantasy that I generally like. There’s coffee shops and police departments, real life cities, etc. That can be all well and fine, but my initial understanding was that this was much more fantasy and I had a hard time getting into this setting.
The “banter” between Seokga and Hani was more childish that that sweet spot of an enemies to lovers dynamic. I kept rolling my eyes and waiting for the story to move along rather than soaking up the page time they had together. It was missing that romantic vibe.
For the plot, I found it fairly predictable. All of the parts of this book were there, and the execution was not.

NOT QUITE.

I was intrigued by the opening scenes of this book, but ultimately a repetitive plot had me wishing for more. I liked Camilla as the FMC, mostly. She was strong willed and really loyal to her brother. Sometimes it led her to do some ridiculous things, but maybe that starts to change in future books? Hopefully so. I think most of the characters needed more development because I closed this book not feeling truly connected to anyone.
The very very subtle potential romance had my attention. I liked the initial dynamics and think that now the truth is out there could be some good development there as well too. I think that a lot of the bones were good, even if I don’t feel pulled to pick up the next book. I missed the world building and better understanding of what was happening. When some reveals happened I was confused as to how they fit the actual magic system.

I enjoyed this one so much. I loved all of the flower content and the whole plot set-up. The magical realism was at just the right level to add to the story without overwhelming it. This was a good second chance romance that brought some heated tension and angst, and some solid jealousy moments too.
There’s a lot of quirky side characters and sub plots that made me laugh. This book balanced not taking itself too seriously while covering some heavier topics too. There was a lot to work through for Romina and I loved where she landed in the end.
I thought a big third act full of nonsense was on the horizon, but pleasantly it was handled really well and with meaning. Unfortunately afterwards the last quarter of the book dragged on too long. I think things could have been wrapped up quicker with the same emotional hit.
Overall audience notes:
- Contemporary Romance
- Language: moderate
- Romance: 2-3 open door
- Violence: low
- Trigger/Content Warnings: grief from a break-up that also involves a child

MY NEW FAVORITE?

I have never been a SUPER fan of this series, but I have continually enjoyed them and was really excited that this one was featuring Oak as the only POV. I loved getting everything from his angle and his thoughts and desires.
This had a little more romance focus and I was obsessed with Oak and Wren. Every little touch or glance, longing look and heated kiss. YEPPPP. Give it all to me. It’s fast paced and filled with a good balance of pacing where I continually wanted to keep reading.
I loved seeing more of Jude and Cardan. And I loved where the plot rotated to as well. This was just an amazing conclusion. I have nothing to gripe over. Would absolutely say READ IT.
