BETTER THAN I HOPED.

I really enjoyed this audiobook and story. I didn’t quite know what to expect and I hadn’t read the synopsis. I just knew I love Leigh Bardugo and went for it.
This had my attention from the beginning. I loved the gothic atmosphere and the intensity of the story. The unique way the historical aspects wove into the fantastical was a great combination. It’s haunting and has awesome horror vibes too.
I liked the main characters and enjoyed the romance between them too. The last quarter had me on the edge of my seat because I truly had no idea where things were going to land for them.
This is multiple POV and I think helped build the story. The differences between those speaking gave way to insight and decisions made from multiple facets of the plot. I do think it slowed down a bit too much in the second half during a particular moment that dragged out, but otherwise, a great book.
Overall audience notes:
- Historical fantasy + romance
- Language: moderate-high
- Romance: fade to black
- Violence: high
- Content Warnings: loss of loved ones, suicide, antisemitism, colonization, abuse, sexual assault, torture, forced nudity, blood/gore depiction

A DELIGHT.
I think this series is so much fun. I love how unique it is in the urban fantasy sphere and the cozy vibes really play well into the story. I love this entire group of fae and they crack me up with the antics and shenanigans.
I’m not usually one to read an amnesia book, but this is definitely an exception to the rule. I loved how it played out and how the flashback chapters wove into the present timeline. There’s a good amount of backstory that makes so many things make sense as you go along.
The romance was sweet and I liked how it unfolded. I think I would have loved just a bit more romance, but I digress. I loved all of the banter and sass and even the nine-tailed fox.
I’m definitely looking forward to book three!!
Overall audience notes:
- Cozy Urban Fantasy
- Language: low
- Romance: kisses
- Violence: low-moderate
fast-paced

I knew going into this that it would be drama with a capital D. Honestly, knowing that going in allowed me to enjoy it more. I wasn’t overanalyzing everything and rode this rollercoaster in style.
Audiobook notes: The audiobook was fantastic. It’s a dual POV story with two narrators which worked wonderfully. Definitely recommend this format.
Anyways, this is a concentrated timeline of about 48 hrs with a few flashback chapters here and there. It kept the pace fast and I did find myself continually wanting to pick it up so I could see what spectacle was going to occur next.
There are some good moments of growth towards the end. And I didn’t mind the main characters. Yes, it’s filled with miscommunication but I also tried to remind myself these are 17/18 year old’s and I’m glad they worked things out in the end.
Overall audience notes:
- Upper YA Contemporary Romance
- Language: moderate
- Romance: one closed door scene; mild innuendo throughout
- Violence: low
- Content Warnings: mentions of inappropriate teacher/student relationship, homophobic remarks, cheating (off page), divorce, underage alcohol use

MY NEW OBSESSION.

I love the start of something new and this was an amazing starting point for the Sparrow Falls series. I was in love with Rhodes and Anson from the get-go and especially the way Anson used Rhodes nickname. I LOVE NICKNAMES.
And the plot was an enigma. I kept looking one way then the other trying to solve the case. Then I found myself up way too late because I NEEDED answers and the answers blind sided me in all the best ways. I love the way Cowles crafts the suspense aspects. It gives that look over your shoulder atmosphere, but mixed with all the heat of a couple falling in love.
I loved watching Rhodes and Anson break down walls and let each other in. The way they connected over the big and small things and every time Anson brought out his protective side. I was a swoony, puddle, tabbing all the moments kind of feral devouring this book.
I LOVE this family and am beyond excited to see the future stories in this small town.
Overall audience notes:
- Romantic Suspense
- Language: moderate
- Romance: 3+ open door
- Violence: moderate-high
- Content Warnings: serial k!ller, gun violence, near death experiences, car accident, loss of family, arson

Audio notes first: LOVED. The narrators brought this book to new heights. It felt like I was truly listening to the main characters tell me the story. I loved the way it was crafted.
Oh my gosh, how does Tarah Dewitt do this to me every time??? I’ve been reading her books from the beginning and each and every dang story has brought the humor and feels and love and ALL THE THINGS.
I was SMITTEN from the first few chapters. Where you just know it’s going to be a five star read. And it never disappointed me once. I loved the grump x sunshine balance and the banter and heat between these two was next level. I loved how both Sage and Fisher had intricate backgrounds that played into their story, and seeing the growth from finding love with each other. This really read like a grown up summer romance story in allllll the best ways. I felt transported to this small town and adored the whole set-up.
This is full of swoon and romance. It’s full of heart and finding the best step forward. Full of reigniting passions and holding onto the parts of you that you love. This swept me away as an absolute romance book BUT with so much space filled with the ups and downs and pure joys of life.
I loved it. I loved it all. And I loved the ending came together too.
Overall audience notes:
- Contemporary Romance
- Language: moderate-high
- Romance: 3+ open door scenes
- Violence: low
- Content Warnings: depictions of grief, death of a loved one (off page)

Honestly, I'm not sure what to tell y'all about this one. If you've already read Powerless than you know what happens and that doesn't appear to change in this novella.
It's written well, it's really sweet, but it also still guts you and I'm not sure of the necessity of having this story?
Maybe it'll be known in Reckless.

I love finding indie gems. AND THIS IS ONE OF THEM. I loved it so much. I loved all of the Greek & Roman inspired dynamics and how those + the meddling gods played into the larger plot. I loved both of these sisters and how much they cared for each other but also how they have to pursue their own paths for now.
I’m also weak for the subtle slow burn romances. The longing glances and heated kisses, good heavens, if I could ask for one thing, MORE of this. I loved both dynamics (each sister has a romantic sub plot). And the reveals??? I kept thinking I had figured something out and then was hit with new information that made me GASP. And tear up, let me tell y’all, things get emotional.
I loved all of the more prevalent side characters. I loved how much action and politicking was involved. I loved seeing glimpses of the emperor and the big journey these characters went on. The magic is really cool, and is one of those thick fantasy books I crave. It absolutely deserves all the love and I need more people to find it.
Overall audience notes:
- Upper YA/NA Fantasy
- Language: low
- Romance: one closed door
- Violence: moderate-high
- Trigger/Content Warnings: war themes, loss of life, near death experiences, weapons violence

WOW, SO GOOD.

I had no expectations going into this and found myself wrapped up in a wonderful YA fantasy debut. I loved the combination of sci-fi + fantasy this showcased. It was also very heavily medically based and I’m the kind of person that loves that stuff.
The plot was steady and filled with plenty of highs and lows. I loved seeing Nihka grow into herself and trying to take the next best step. The mystery was great too and I love grand reveals.
There’s a slow burn romance that’s woven throughout with the right dash of rivals to lovers vibes. I loved that Nihka and Kochin got many chances to get to know one another and they really grew on me.
And the ENDING. I have no idea where things will go next but I’m very invested now and look forward to the next book.

- YA Fantasy

HOLY DIALOGUE.
BLOG || INSTAGRAM
You will rarely find me saying too much dialogue, but y’all, there was too much dialogue. And I didn’t realize how much of a disconnect that created for me in understanding the main character’s emotions and decisions, and even their basic personalities. I struggled so much to FEEL something reading this.
The bones are there. It’s a second chance romance, there’s a lot of real life stuff to work through and talk, and I liked scenes here and there throughout.
This writing style got to me enough I was missing too much to reconcile my overall thoughts. I also think when I’m reading a romance, I want it to be realistic, yet I am cool with a level of romantic delulu because it’s a ROMANCE book and that’s fine. This was almost so realistic that it came across very bland and I watched the day to day of these characters without any true plot line woven in.
Overall audience notes:
- Contemporary Romance
- Language: moderate
- Romance: 2-3 somewhat cringey open door scenes
- Content Warnings: cheating partner (resulting is a divorce)
