This might be my new favorite Amy Lea book (I’ve read them all at present). Gosh this was so incredibly CHARMING. It had 13 Going On 30 vibes but with a rivals to lovers angle. And BOTH of them end up in a different year together. I thought this was the perfect set up to bring out the FEELS and it delivered.
I loved the banter and snark. It’s that perfect balance of sass while also noticing the intense chemistry between Charlotte and Renner. I was obsessed with them from the get go.
There were also some great themes woven in too. I loved how Charlotte and Renner learned to look deeper and had more understanding towards each other and their situations. I loved them Charlotte learned what it meant to not be walked over by a friend and how to stand up for herself. I loved that this book brought such joy balanced with the heartache that life can be.
This is a charming delight.
Overall audience notes:
- Contemporary Romance
- Language: low
- Romance: Kisses; low innuendo
- Content Warnings: mentions of divorce, loss of a parent

Y’all. I love this series with my whole heart and am so grateful it was put on my radar from bookstagram friends. These are GEMS. Every dang one of them. This is my favorite of the series (so far, I am saddened I’m now caught up).
I adore Emma. I love how much these make me laugh and smile. I love how much my heart feels squeezed and feet kicking giddy. There’s such incredible subtlety to every move made in the plot and I love watching it all slowly take place and seeing Emma grow.
I love the entire cast. Seriously, not one poorly crafted character. I am charmed, I am giddy and I beg of you to pick up these books.

ALL THE ACTION.

Audiobook notes: I loved the audiobook. No complaints here! I think it honestly helped me enjoy the book more after digitally reading Stars and Smoke.
I think managed expectations from my thoughts on book one helped me here. I wasn’t as focused on the romance, even though I do think it played a bigger role in this book. I love the push and pull between Winter and Sydney. Mixed with a pop stars world, dangerous agents and explosive action and this made for a fun an entertaining story.
The twists were a little predictable, but not something that took anything away for me. I loved how intense many moments felt and wondering who was going to survive. I thought it ended at a logical and good conclusion. I would read another book in this world if one’s coming.
Overall audience notes:
- NA Romantic Suspense
- Language: low
- Romance: one vague-ish open door
- Violence: moderate-high
- Content Warnings: loss of life, gun violence, explosions

I had seen this around a touch and didn’t know if it would be a hit or miss for me. But an opportunity presented itself, I took it, and then proceeded to binge this book in two days. There’s your review, clearly you need to pick this up too.
BUT, I will give you more. I loved Meera. I loved her strength and loyalty to her family and kingdom. Her journey was amazing and I loved how things came together. This is a standalone and while usually a struggle for me, I had none of those issues this time. I loved the world building, the magic, the DRAGONS and all of the characters. I felt like I got enough of everything needed to feel like it was a well rounded story and closed off all of the plot lines by the end.
There’s a subtle romance woven in that was sweet to watch unfurl. I adored the connection and how slowly but surely (through my favorite forced proximity) they started to work together and solving problems. I don’t want to give too much away in the romance aspects so trust me!!
This was truly a gem of a read. I had a wonderful time and it was the fantasy book I didn’t know I was craving. I look forward to more books by this author!

Okay, I’m officially a fan of this series. The depression rep for Weston made me cry. I felt so scene by that and it deserves a lot of love for that alone. I feel like the overall story had a little more substance that book one and the romance worked well for me.
I adored Ada and Weston. And I am actually smitten with how the third act situation was handled. It came across much more realistic rather than dramatic and loved watching it play out. This is one of the few times I wish I had been physically reading rather than the audiobook (the audio was great!!) because I had so many lines I wanted to highlight.
I’m also very much attached this family now and look forward to the next book in this series!

Oooo y’all know I’m a sucker for arranged marriages and I adored this one so dang much. I loved Konstantin and Suzana. They were incredible on their own and the chemistry between them was palpable.
I loved how strong Suzana was. And that all of the terrible hands she had been dealt didn’t deter her from being open to the softness and joy of a new path before her. I loved her ability to work with others and her resilient and tender nature was incredibly endearing.
And Konstantin?? A cinnamon roll of a Zupan who is also obsessed with his wife? Say less. I loved how he was balanced. Showing up to take down enemies when needed, and also working hard to show Suzana that he was a safe place to land. And when they both found comfort in each other I was a goner.
I love clearly well researched historicals and this was amazing. I felt like I was a part of this world, and learned a lot more about the time period and battles between vassals. There were betrayals and twists, perfectly scripted action scenes, and quiet moments of forgiveness and love. I loved all of the themes and care that went into the beautifully crafting of this story. I can’t wait for book two!
Overall audience notes:

- Language: none
- Romance: closed door between a married couple
- Violence: moderate-high

I’LL READ BOOK TWO.

This was a good series starter. I especially loved the audiobook because they had five separate narrators for all of the POV’s which made it much easier to follow along. I did like all of our main leads. They’ve each got secrets and strengths and weaknesses that you see played out though the book. I loved the ending betrayals and twists. A few took me by surprise which is always my favorite.
I liked most of the romantic aspects. Some times I felt like it was trying too hard to be sexy (and not in a lusty way, it’s hard to explain without spoiling) and it wasn’t coming off well. I do like the contrasting pairings and I’m curious how those will continue to unravel (or tie together) as the series continues.
The plot is simple, which works well against so many points of view. I liked seeing different pieces of the world and how the politicking and intrigue worked together. I’m very much interested in seeing where this series will go next.
Overall audience notes:
- Fantasy Romance
- Language: moderate
- Romance: fade to black
- Violence: high

THE RAGE.

The overwhelming feminist rage of this book about overwhelmed me. NOW. I totally understood and was behind much of it, I just think it became a bit much at some points where I was hoping to see growth and acknowledgement of the other things around her. And I didn’t love the way the book started off with Chrysantha. Rubbed me the wrong way.
ALSO NOTE: This is NOT YA. THIS IS NA. Definitely written for older audiences. I love NA, so that doesn’t bother me, but I’m pretty sure the marketing has been for YA and I wouldn’t feel comfortable handing this to a young teen.
ANYWHO. The characters did grow on me a lot. This is a TRUE enemies to lovers and really got my attention with the vitriol and sass between Chrysantha and Eryx. The slow burn brought them together and the beast that’s prowling makes a show for itself too. I was intrigued by much of this and I liked the general plot. I also loved that Chrysantha was able to reconnect with her sister. I loved seeing her and the king again too.
There’s some good themes and I did see the character growth eventually. I’m still a big fan of Levenseller’s books.
Overall audience notes:
- NA Fantasy Romance
- Language: moderate
- Romance: closed door, innuendo throughout
- Violence: moderate-high
