I usually don’t write full reviews of novellas because they often don’t warrant a full breakdown.

BUT, I want everyone to know about this so I want to throw a few sentences out there that this was an amazing holiday novella. I absolutely adored it and it found me when I needed this kind of escapism.

It won’t be for everyone, but if you feel like giving it a go, DO IT. I loved the chemistry between Birdie Mae and Nic. They had some great enemies to lovers vibes that turned into a heated reconnection blast from the past that worked so dang well. The age gap was just right and alllll of those small town winter vibes are alive and well.

The pacing was fantastic for such a short story. I felt like I got enough back story + forward progress to enjoy these characters and could only imagine a full length novel between them. I’m curious now about Olivia’s backlist and will have to check that out!

WANTED TO LOVE.

Another overall miss for this series. I think it’s me? Fantasy standalones within a series is a struggle for me. I love long sagas or one and done with fantasies. The difference seems to always leave me wanting.

The enemies to lovers vibes here worked for me a lot of the time. I liked the back and forth and plenty of forced proximity and banter. Where I struggled with was a particular [spoiler] scene that took me out of the story. After that point things kind of fell flat and I was speeding up the audio to move along.

I did enjoy all of the pirate related saga. On a treasure hunt type quest, hanging with the crew and some good battle scenes did fit the story well. The bond between the sisters and Dad is also one of my favorite parts. I love close knit family connections and find this a unique aspect to the fantasy genre.

I’m tempted to read the third, but will probably wait a bit like I did with this one.

I started out really enjoying this. Easily a holiday read, I liked the grump and sunshine set up (with easy nods to The Christmas Carol). Single mom trope is here too and I love a great kid in a book too.

There’s some good humor and I loved the slow burn romance. It was a well accomplished age gap and I was head over heels for Henry. He reminded me of Temperance Brennan (Bones from Bones). A very dry sense of humor and the way he viewed the world. I thought this was spot on and his growth was solid too.

Paige grew on me but we had some learning curves too. I struggled with her absolute inability to let others help her even though they’ve literally been helping her for years. It was a stubborn clash that made me shrug my shoulders a bunch.

Some of the trauma felt like it was approached with a bit of insensitivity. I think I got what the author was trying to do, but it was a miss for me.

It does have the perfect amount of holiday cheer and I thought the ending was really sweet. There’s a good combination of things here even if some of the stuff wasn’t clicking for me.

ABSOLUTELY LOVED.

This one took me by surprise and I am so happy it did. WHAT A GEM. This is a must read for my holiday romance fans!!

The angst between these two friends as they turned to lovers was immaculate. I felt the tension from the get go and within a few chapters I was completely wrapped up in watching these two fall in love. I loved the brief flashback moments that recounted all of their plane rides together. It set the stage well for where things landed in the end.

And OHMGEE SWEET ANDREW. I was very much misty eyed when I got to some of those later chapters. Straight PUDDLE. Andrew was amazing and I love him and couldn’t get enough. I really liked Molly as the FMC too. She was realistic yet willing to do what she could for her closest friend. I loved the whirlwind of an adventure they went on, literally around the world to get home for Christmas.

I loved all of the Christmas and holiday spirit, the families were stellar. Always love a supportive and loving family as side characters. The ending was all the best things and now I want to read this author’s other books.

DNF @ 35%. 
I gave it 160 pages.

I wasn't super connected to the story and the amount of spice in this already wasn't working for me. It felt added to give the story something because we were still wandering around a forest and I was getting booooored.

BIG YIKES.
And this was not a holiday book in the slightest.

I thought the FMC was wildly immature and ridiculous. The friends weren't stellar. The romance was meh.

I saw the potential but I'm frustrated by the execution.

This wasn’t on my radar until a few friends gave it glowing reviews and I’m here to add mine to the bunch. I thought everything got progressively better over the course of the book and now I’m definitely wanting the sequel.

I loved the fairytale vibes with a good dash of darkness (always here for some darkness). There was a magical quality to the writing that created a well formed story that I understood with ease. I loved the magic system with the cards!! It worked really well and was intriguing.

The romance grew on me. I thought the fake dating and tension worked well between them and I’m excited to see where that continues. It’s more of a well place sub-plot and the chemistry and dynamic is certainly there.

There’s some quirky demons who think they know best and a magical king missing from the game board. I thought the ending was WILD and can’t wait for more.

APPLE-SOLUTELY LOVED.

LOVED THIS ONE Y’ALL. It was so sweet and full of all the apple based puns I didn’t know I needed.

I loved Perry’s growth and his character arc as he worked through a lot of new things. He was sincere and swoony and just the right amount of grump. Everything felt so perfectly attuned to life and that made me feel all the more. I can’t imagine the thought process through deciding to become an instant Dad and I liked that there was an up and down to his journey. The ex-wife didn’t overshadow anything and I appreciate she was in the story just enough to understand the past and see the bright future ahead.

Lila & Jack were amazing too. I loved them and how Lila worked hard to be the best Mom she could be for Jack and also realize it was okay to find happiness for herself. Lila was full of confidence I wish I had. The body image conversations also hit my heart too. I liked the way this was approached and handled throughout. Jack was the perfect little side character. Sometimes kids can be hit/miss in a read, but he was GREAT. Incredibly sweet, full of love to give, and very much like a 5-year old.

I loooove this family and the support (and laughs) they provide for one another. The farm is a wonderful setting as always. Fantastic kissing scenes, all the honest moments and all the feels.

Worth staying up past my bedtime for this one!

NEW CHRISTMAS ROMANCE FAVORITE.

I am a flat puddle of emotions over this book. It is a new favorite and I want to read it every Christmas now. I AM IN MY FEELS. I don’t think I’ll be able to accurately convey how much I adored it so please GO READ IT.

ALL OF THE KISSING. There was so much and I loved every single moment. Ohhhmygosh Cindy Steel knows how to bring the heat without bringing the spice and it is impeccable. Miles and Olive were perfect for each other. It was always you is strong in this book.

The flirting and banter was flawless. I loved that Miles was relentless and so dang kind is in his pursuit of the fake dating scheme. All of the Christmas activities were wonderful and I now would like to plan an immediate trip to Vermont for the winter break.

There was a natural flow to everything happening and the third act was handled AMAZINGLY. It was charming and had me just as giddy as Miles and Olive.

I also loved the discussions about grief and valid emotions. Everything was handled beautifully and I got misty eyed with the impact of the story.

I am in bookish heaven over this book y’all. It is a MUST read for anyone needed something to bring them joy this holiday season.
