My favourite so far! I thought Rachel's book would be my fav out of the first 5 cus she's my favourite but this one plot wise was sooo good! I loved the exploration of the ethics around morphing, and I love that we got introduced to Ax!
A 5 star rating for a rom com is almost unheard of for me, but reading about happy people who love each other was exactly what I needed today

Wow. This was an incredibly dark book about a teenage girl who gets caught up in the idea of using her beauty to succeed in life, too naive to understand the danger she's surrounding herself with. She gets caught up with the owners of an exclusive resort for the elite who manipulate and take advantage of her. All the while she's also involved in the investigation of the rape and murder of an even younger girl who's body she discovers at the beginning of the book.
This book is full of triggers and it doesn't have a happy ending. It was honestly completely dreadful to read a lot of the time and the end has me reeling, but I actually really enjoyed it. It was very harsh but it also had a lot of truth to it and unlike a lot of books about this kind of thing, it didn't feel exploitative. I would definitely recommend looking up specific TWs before reading this but if you like dark dramas and crime thrillers you'll most likely enjoy this book.

I found this to be a pretty interesting take on what's basically a superhero origin story. The scientific aspects were super interesting and seemed well researched to me but then again what do I know about genetics.
I don't normally read action thrillers which this book kind of was. I enjoyed it but I ran into the same issue I have with action movies which is that the actual action scenes bore me and my attention drifts, so the last third of this book was harder for me to finish, but I liked it a lot up until to that point.
I really liked the way Logan related to his family and friends, the book definitely had a lot of emotional depth and it also brought up some very interesting ethical questions. It was fun to read about a world where brilliant scientists are basically gangsters.

have complicated feelings about this book tbh. First of all, am not the target demographic so get that out of the way first. feel the target demographic are people who really connected to the song/music video when it came out, and do feel this book will be super meaningful to those people. While certainly do like girls like boys do, that's not an aspect of my identity ever had to struggle with. I was privileged to have been raised by very liberal and open minded parents in a community that felt the same.
This book takes place in the mid-late 2000s which was the time of my childhood. Coley is a little older than would've been but definitely relate a lot to the time and the culture which is a lot of fun. It also feels more like the YA that was coming out around that time. YA romance these days often feels more like it's written for adults but this book feels kind of like a middle grade book except with swearing and more mature scenes. I don't know if that was the intention or if it comes down to a lack of skill in writing. It's certainly not a super amazingly written book, but I think that teenagers will enjoy it and do think that would have liked it a lot if read this book 10-15 years ago.
l'd definitely recommend this book to anyone who's ever felt like the song it's based on really spoke to them. I also think it would be a fantastic book for girls who are coming of age and questioning their identity.

There was a lot I liked about this book, but then there was a lot I didn't. I definitely enjoyed the first part the most. The descriptions of Alaska were lovely and I loved feeling the sense of friendship and community.
But this book also deals with some very heavy subjects and unfortunately I wasn't a big fan of the way those things were portrayed. I wish that we'd gotten more nuance or development for any of the characters that weren't Leni. The dad's character to me just felt so black and white, I don't understand why you'd make this story partially centered around PTSD without really delving into the subject at all. Same with mom's character, I've been in bad relationships before, I get why she stayed but I didn't empathize with her because I wasn't given the chance.
Near the end of the book it honestly kinda started to feel like trauma porn with everything piling on at once, idk. I guess some parts of this maybe just weren't for me. I know this seems like a lot of complaints, but I actually enjoyed the book. It had lovely writing and an interesting story, unfortunately the parts I didn't like were pretty distracting.

This one explored some really dark and powerful themes tbh. Toby is grappling with an issue that's obviously never actually happened to anyone before, but it still feels real because of the way teenagers (and humans in general) struggle with their identities. This book definitely felt darker than the first two and also was bit more gorey
This is a pretty cute rom-com about a small town that's trying to resist a big new development. The romance is cute and there's mostly very low stakes, not too much drama. I think it will really appeal to people who like small town romances (I'm not a huge fan of them myself). I rated it a bit lower because I did find it dragged a bit. I think it could have been a bit shorter but overall it was a nice light read.

Id say I liked this quite a bit more than the invasion (which I did like a lot). Always prefer female povs and Rachel is a badass. Always surprised at the mature themes in these books.
