I was super excited when I heard Rick Riordan created his own imprint with Disney to help bring other culture's stories to readers. After loving everything I've read of his so far, I pre-ordered Aru Shah and the End of Time as soon as I heard about it. Getting to read another story focused around Hindu mythology was great. Aru and Mini are a fun duo to follow through the experiences on their quest. There is also a lot of good humorous moments that brnig about a chuckle. My favorite being a Harry Potter reference during one scene. I'd say my only issue was the the writing/story wasn't that fluid in the beginning. As the story progresses though, everything finds a great pacing and I never really had that issue again. I definitely look forward to the sequel.
Truthwitch has a clunky start, but when it finds its stride it becomes a very fast paced and super entertaining read. I wish there was slightly more world building, but happy that it isn't overbearing about it. Nothing worse than treating the reader like they're too dumb to piece together some things on their own. Also Safi and Iseult are awesome! I look forward to following their experiences more in Windwitch!
