This was slow reading, but ultimately so worth it. I read this one physically because I heard great things about Brom’s artwork and I was not disappointed. If you were a kid who was obsessed with witch craft and the Salem witch trials this will be right up your street. While the actual plot wasn’t necessarily inventive or surprising, the presentation of this book was what made the reading experience special.

I was kindly gifted a copy of this book from the author in exchange for my honest review.
This poetry collection gave me very similar feels and vibes to I’m Glad my Mom Died by Jennette McCurdy in that it dealt with a lot of the same themes and parent/child relationship experiences. I can see this collection being very relatable for people who have ever felt alone, left out or unseen.
For me the most powerful poems were “disappear” and “my heart believes.” Depending on your life experiences you may find another poem more relatable.
I’m excited to read more poetry from this author. They have a very raw, vulnerable writing style that made this a very worthwhile read.

Once you’ve read one YA dystopic about brain washed girls, you’ve read them all. However this was still an enjoyable read. If you like the show Dollhouse this would be right up your street.

This one was a me problem. I wasn’t enough of a fan of the characters to have any interest in this story. The ambience was also just not really there for me.

This was my first time reading Practical Magic. The writing style was tough to get into and very disorienting. I’ve also never seen the movie…I plan to do this after finishing the book. I don’t know what I was expecting from the story, but this just wasn’t quite it.
