This book is the exact reason I love Helena Newbury’s work and have read most of her books. You always know you’re going to get a great action packed romance from her. Before I started reading her books, I didn’t really know action romance was a genre but she made me fall in love with them!
The plot centres around an FBI agent - Hailey - who has to go undercover to infiltrate a Russian Bratva Boss’s organisation - Konstantin. She does this by having reconstructive plastic surgery and making herself look like Konstantin’s current girlfriend who the FBI picked up after she was in a car accident.
Hailey thinks she knows what she’s getting herself I to, she thinks she knows the bad guys from the good guys, but then she’s absorbed i to that world and she starts to see parts of Konstantin that no one has ever seen before.
The mixture of steamy sexual romance (and this book I’d say is one of helena’s steamier ones), danger, constantly being on the edge of your seat to see if Hailey will be discovered...it’s addictive and brilliant.
I love that there’s quite a few scenes where the romance isn’t shown by someone saying I love you, but by the little things they do for each other, and the actions of the characters.
Highly recommend and personally think it’s her best book!

My favourite of the brothers stand alone novels!
Louise is desperate to raise enough money to help her sister get life saving treatment. Sean, her troublemaker scary neighbour is the only option.
And it just gets better from there!
The chemistry between the two is palpable from the very first interaction and it grows and grows and grows until all it can do is snap! However the building is written so well you’re not even mad tou had to wait a bit to see it.
And when the characters are together (STEAMY) it’s just wonderful.
With the usual undertone of danger that comes with helenas other reads, this book is addictive from the first page!

It’s the perfect mix of danger, action, rescue, romance and sex.
With well written scenes and good character development this book is also incredibly enjoyable to read.

This was the first brothers standalone book I read before I knew they were all interlinked slightly, and in hindsight it is unfortunately my least favourite. However it’s completely essential to lay the ground work for the final Brothers book which concludes all 4 brothers journey.
The plot is pretty interesting - the daughter of the president and a body guard (no it’s not the same as the Mandy Moore movie) with a sinister plot to take down the president that his daughter and the body guard uncover and fight against. However my problem with the plot is that it’s so big. Kind of like a movie plot, and so I think it’s too big to mesh with the other 3/4 books of the series (although technically the first four are standalones so that’s far enough).
Still got the same good writing, good romance and good levels of steam.

The first book that led me onto the Helena Newbury train and I’m so glad it’s the one I started with!

We’ve got hot bad guys that actually are kind of good too, it’s got steamy (STEAMY) sex scenes, cute heart-melting moment, suspense, drama and action.

I was really looking forward to this book as the characters had been being introduced in a previous one and I was excited to get to know them. However unfortunately it fell a little flat for me.
Sex scenes aside, I thought the rest of the story was rushed, it went from 0 to sex really quickly and then didn’t stop. And the action/thriller part I’ve come to expect from every story was a little flat too in my opinion.

I think this is the first James Patterson book I’ve actually read, even tho I have a few on the shelf.
pros: -great writing. Super easy to follow along with
-loveable characters

- not super gorrie so suited for younger readers starting off in the crime genre

Overall really enjoyable, heartfelt romance that I’d definitely recommend to people. I read this as part of a book club and have been so glad since that it was there or else I may never have read it.
